Monthly Trends lets you browse the most popular Etsy keywords in over a dozen categories. This feature includes 15 months of historical data for terms in each category. Add terms from this feature to your keyword lists for future reference in just a few clicks.

Benefits

This feature provides the top keywords in Etsy’s most popular categories. Monthly Trends is a great tool for fine-tuning your listings’ search engine optimization (SEO) and predicting seasonal shopping trends.

How to Use

In the Main Menu, click Trends and then Monthly Trends.

Use Like a Top 20 Chart

Use this page to view the most popular keywords on Etsy over the past 15 months in 16 different categories. Come back each month to see if these terms are one-offs or part of an ongoing trend. Free members can view the top 5 keywords in each category, while Basic members, Pro members, and Expert members can view the top 100 keywords in each category.

However, if you plan to use any of the terms you see here in your listings, please heed the warning in the orange bar regarding trademarked terms. If you are unsure if a term or phrase is trademarked, click the link to the USPTO Trademark Database and search the word or phrase to check.

Choose and Filter Data

Select a category from the list of categories on the left to view its top keywords.

If you are looking for top keywords related to print-on-demand items, check out the POD section at the bottom.

Use the Filter keywords… field in the blue bar to search for a specific term or phrase. This is useful for when you need to investigate the performance of specific keywords. 

Use the dropdown menu to the right to select the month you would like to view top keywords from.

Keywords that were very popular yesterday are marked with a red flame symbol. Click on any keyword to navigate to our Keyword Tool feature, where you can perform a detailed analysis of the top 100 listings found in Etsy search for that specific term.

To the right of each keyword is a trend graph that shows how the popularity of the term changed over the last 15 months. From this, you can get a sense of seasonality and whether a keyword is becoming more or less popular. 

The Etsy Searches column, located on the right side of the page, shows you the estimated number of searches for that keyword on Etsy within the month you specified. This is useful for determining if a term is actually popular or if it has simply increased in popularity. 

Sort your data using the small gray arrows at the top of the Etsy Keywords and Etsy Searches columns.

Utilize Keywords

Click the star next to any keyword to add it to one of your Keyword Lists. Take a shortcut to your most recently edited list by clicking the floating blue button in the bottom left corner of the page.
