Is your desk covered with post-it notes or notebooks filled with keyword ideas? Or do you keep a spreadsheet of keyword ideas and stats that are a pain to keep up-to-date?

You should use Keyword Lists! This feature allows you to save and group keywords alongside their latest search data. Color-code, sort, add notes, and add more keywords as you research.

Benefits

Use this feature to save search terms you find in your keyword research and group them together in easily-accessible lists.

Compare search data and make notes. Color-code terms if desired. Use the Listing Builder to compose a title and tags on a virtual clipboard and copy it to your Etsy listing.

How to use

In the Main Menu, select "Keyword Research" and then "Keyword Lists."

You can also click the "Keyword Lists" button at the top of your dashboard.

Creating keyword lists

Click the gray star next to any tags that appear in the Keyword Tool, Listing Audit or any other pages on eRank that contain keyword data tables. The star will turn gold and save that term to your active keyword list.

Free members can save up to 5 keywords to one list, Basic members can save up to 50 keywords to 25 different lists, Pro members can save up to 50 keywords to 50 different lists, and Expert members can save up to 100 keywords to 100 different lists.

Managing keyword lists

Use the blue button floating in the bottom left corner of Keyword Tool, and Listing Audit to manage your keyword lists. This button indicates which list will receive the keywords. You can expand this button into a popup window to perform other tasks.

Editing keyword lists

Click the orange "Edit Lists" button in the popup to go to the Keyword Lists feature. Here, you can view all of your keyword lists along with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) data related to each term.

Click the pencil to change the title of a list.

Click the gray circles under the "Flags" column to color-code your lists. This is a great way to group lists by season, holiday, priority, etc.

Viewing keyword lists

Click any of the Keyword List names to be taken to a detailed view of that list.

In each keyword list, you will see the following trend, search, and competition information for each keyword. This helps you compare keywords and figure out which are best for your items.

Column

What It Means

Keywords

The search terms saved in your keyword list.

Trend Graph

These graphs display each keyword’s changes in popularity over the past 15 months. From this data, you can get a sense of a keyword’s seasonality and whether it is becoming more or less popular.

Character Count

The number of characters in the keyword phrase, including spaces and punctuation.

Flags

Use flags to color-code your lists. Click any gray dot to assign a color to that keyword.

Average Searches*

The average monthly searches for that keyword in the marketplace you chose based on the past 12 months of Etsy data.

Average Clicks*

The average monthly clicks that listings in searches for that keyword get in the marketplace you chose, based on the past 12 months of Etsy data.

Average CTR*

The ratio of clicks to searches in the marketplace you chose for that keyword (shown as a percentage) based on the past 12 months of Etsy data.

Etsy Competition*

If you chose Etsy for a marketplace, use this column to see much competition you can expect with this keyword on search results pages.

Google Searches

The estimated number of searches performed on Google each month for that keyword. Google search data is also useful for your website (if you have one) and can help you understand broader user-interest levels, keywords, and products.

Long Tail Keywords

Long tail keywords are keywords or key phrases that are more specific than more commonly searched-for keywords. Long tail keywords get less search traffic, but will usually have a higher conversion value.

Notes

Use the Notes column to add a note to any keyword.

Listing Builder

Use this column to add tags to (and remove them from) the Listing Builder section, which is located above the keyword list.

*This data is color-coded as follows:

Color

What It Means

Green

The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is very high. A green Etsy competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is very low.

Yellow

The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is high. A yellow Etsy competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is low.

Orange

The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is low. An orange Etsy competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is high.

Red

The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is very low. A red Etsy competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is very high.

Click the orange "Columns" button on the right side of the table to choose the data you'd like to view.

Sort your data using the small gray arrows at the top of each column.

Click the pencil at the top of the page to change the title of a list. Add a description of your list in the field just below the dropdown menu.

Please note that every time you retrieve any of your Keyword Lists, eRank automatically refreshes the columns with the most current data available for each keyword.

Managing keywords in a list

To copy terms from your list, check the box to the left of your keywords of choice and then click the bright blue "Copy Tags" button that appears at the bottom of the page.

Color-code any keyword by clicking the circle underneath the "Flags" column:

Click the "Notes" column to add a note to any keyword.

Listing Builder

Use the Listing Builder to create titles and tags for new Etsy listings.

Click the orange "Add" buttons under the "Listing Builder" column to add those keywords to the Tags section in the Listing Builder. If you change your mind about any keywords later, click "Remove" to remove them from the Listing Builder.

Add a title to your listing and then click the "copy" icons to copy everything to your clipboard and paste directly into your Etsy listing.

If you click the padlock icon on the left, this section will follow you down the page as you scroll. This is helpful if you are browsing a lengthy keyword list.

Adding keywords

Click "Add Keywords" in the top left corner to type in keywords to add to this list. Use a comma to separate each word.

Filtering keywords in a list

Use the "Filter keyword…" field in the blue bar to search for a particular keyword. This allows you to easily narrow down the list to specific keywords.

eRank supports other marketplaces as well -- including selling platforms such as eBay and Amazon! Click on the dropdown menu to the right of the "Filter keyword..." field to see all of the marketplaces that eRank supports.

Use the dropdown menu on the right to select which country you would like to view keyword data from.

Bulk Rank Checker, exporting data, and customizing columns

Use Bulk Rank Checker to check all of the keywords in a list to see if any of your listings on Etsy are ranking in search for those keywords.

Click the orange "Export" button to export or print your keyword data for future reference.
