In a competitive marketplace, attention-to-detail makes all the difference in attracting customers to your Etsy shop. A misspelled word or a grammatical or typing error in your product listing tags hinders your visibility in search results.
Per Etsy, their search redirects shoppers to correct results for commonly misspelled words. Therefore, it is not necessary to use up your 13 tags to intentionally account for these types of misspellings. eRank’s Spell Checker is designed to help Etsy shop owners identify and correct spelling and grammatical errors in their product tags, ensuring that they are error-free and optimized for success.
Multiple Languages
One of the key benefits of the Spell Checker is its multilingual capability. Unlike many other spell checkers that are limited to a single language, eRank’s tool supports multiple languages, allowing Etsy sellers from around the world to access its powerful features. Whether you are writing listings in English, French, Spanish, German, or Italian, eRank’s Spell Checker has you covered.
English is automatically selected for eRank users. However, you are able to change or select as many languages as needed. Once a different or additional language is selected, click the CHECK AGAIN button to refresh the information. This flexibility ensures that the tool is effective, regardless of the language in which your listings are written.
Error Identification
The Spell Checker seamlessly integrates into eRank’s platform, streamlining the process of managing your Etsy shop and ensuring that you can make quick edits to your listings as needed.
There are two ways to access the Spell Checker directly:
- From your eRank Dashboard, locate the section HEALTH CHECK and click on SPELLING ISSUES, if present.
- Expand the SHOP INSIGHTS section of the eRank menu and select SPELL CHECKER from the list.
Any listings with potential spelling errors in their product tags are listed with the error highlighted in red in the TAG column. Under the SUGGESTIONS column, eRank provides some possible correct spellings for your convenience. Click the blue FIX ON ETSY button to navigate to the listing and make any necessary corrections.
But what if the word is spelled as it should be?
Safe List
eRank uses standard dictionaries for the spelling review. Some abbreviations and non-standard or “slang” terms may not be found and therefore, show as being misspelled. If the word is spelled correctly, click the green IGNORE button to add the term to your Safe List in eRank.
The Safe List is also good for any terms that you may have “invented” as part of your shop’s branding or abbreviations and acronyms your listing tags use that the standard dictionaries do not recognize. If you add a word to your Safe List by accident or if you change your mind about a term being on the list, select the Safe List tab at the top of the Spell Checker and click the orange REMOVE button next to the appropriate word.
Additional Places in eRank
Besides viewing misspellings directly within the Spell Checker, other areas of eRank display a notification that a possible misspelling is found in your listing tags. These additional areas allow Etsy sellers to identify any spelling errors quickly.
The first place where the spell check results also display in eRank is in your Health Check report. The Health Check report, found under the LISTING OPTIMIZATION menu, includes a column specifically for SPELLING ISSUES. A green checkmark means no issues, while a red X indicates a spelling issue has been identified.
The Listing Audit is the second location where spell check results display in eRank. When viewing an audit of a particular listing, accessed by selecting LISTING AUDIT in the Health Check or under the LISTING OPTIMIZATION menu, the SUGGESTIONS section notifies you of any possible spelling errors to resolve.
If either report identifies misspellings in your listing tags, open the Spell Checker to identify the specific spelling error and click to either FIX ON ETSY or IGNORE, whichever is appropriate.
Availability
The Spell Checker is available to all eRank users on all plan levels. No limitation exists as to the number of times that eRank can run a spell check on your Etsy listing tags.
