Summary

The Keyword Tool performs detailed analyses of the top 100 listings found in Etsy search results for any keyword you specify. 

This tool will help you gather information on the most popular tags used by Etsy sellers, and how often the related keywords are used in Etsy search. You can also see price ranges for items using these keywords and other data that will help you optimize your listings.

Benefits

The Keyword Tool gives you insight into your competitors’ listings. Use it to view how they write their titles, which tags they use, how they price their items, and how many views and favorites these listings get.

How to Use

In the Main Menu, select Tools and then Keyword Tool.

Type any keyword into the Enter keywords field in the blue search bar and use the drop-down menu next to it to select either which country you would like to view data from.

Access your search history via the Previous searches drop-down menu on the right.

Keyword Statistics

Use the Keyword Statistics section to view the keyword’s average number of Etsy searches and clicks per month, as well as its click-through rate (ratio of clicks to searches, abbreviated as CTR). These figures are based on the past 12 months of Etsy data. You can also view the keyword’s estimated Etsy competition.

Keywords with a high number of clicks and/or a high CTR tell us that buyers are interested in the search results that they are seeing. These keywords may generate more views and sales than other choices.

Basic members and Pro members can use the interactive chart displaying Etsy and Google Search Trends to gain insight on how the keyword has performed over the past 15 months. To provide a broader perspective, eRank shows you how popular keywords have been on both Etsy and Google. 

Etsy Searchers by Country

Basic members and Pro members can use this section to view the location of the people who have searched for the keyword.

Search Results Analysis

Use this section to view a detailed analysis of the top 100 listings found in Etsy search for the keyword you entered.

In this section, you can view the following information:
Number of listings analyzed
Average item price
Average hearts (number of favorites) each item has
Total views all of the listings have had, combined
Average number of views each listing has
Average number of daily views each listing has
Average number of weekly views each listing has

Use Most Popular Tags to view a word cloud of the most commonly used tags eRank found in the top listings for the keyword you entered. Click any tag to open a new Keyword Tool page for that term.

Use this section to view the top 5 categories (and subcategories) in which the keyword appears, based on the current top 100 listings containing it. 

Keyword Ideas

Use the Keyword Ideas table to view the keyword’s most popular related tags and searches.

However, please heed the warning in the orange bar regarding trademarked terms. If you are unsure if a keyword or phrase is trademarked, click the link to the USPTO Trademark Database and search the word or phrase to check.

Basic members and Pro members can export or print the table for future reference.

Feel free to filter keywords and adjust your results to include popular tags, related searches, or both if needed.

Click on any column’s headings to sort the data (ascending or descending) by that column.

Use this table to view the following information for each related tag:

Tag Occurrences: The number of times eRank found that tag in the top 100 listings that were analyzed

Average Searches (US)*: The average monthly searches the keyword has had over the past 12 months

Average Clicks (US)*: The average monthly clicks the keyword has had over the past 12 months

Average CTR (US)*: The average monthly click-through rate (CTR) the keyword has had over the past 12 months

Etsy Competition*: How many other listings can be found in search results for the keyword you specified

Search Trend: How the popularity of the keyword has changed over the past 15 months. This helps you figure out which terms are seasonal, evergreen (always popular), gaining popularity, and losing popularity

Google Searches: The estimated number of searches on Google each month. Google search data is also helpful for your website and can help you understand broader user-interest levels, keywords, and products

Long Tail Keyword: Keywords or key phrases that are more specific than commonly searched keywords. Long tail keywords get less search traffic but will usually have a higher conversion value, as they are more specific

Google Trends: Takes you to the Google Trends website where you can analyze more keyword trends

*This data is color-coded as follows:

Green: The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is very high. A green competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is very low

Yellow: The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is high. A yellow competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is low

Orange: The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is low. An orange competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is high

Red: The average number of monthly searches, clicks, or CTR for the tag is very low. A red competition bar means that competition with the tag on Etsy is very high.

Please note that Average Searches, Average Clicks, and Average CTR are viewable by Basic members and Pro members.

Price Range

Use the Price Range bar chart to view the price range of the top 100 listings that have this keyword. Hover over the chart to see the number of listings found at the various price points. Use this data to competitively price your products.

Processing Times

Use this section to view the average time shops using this keyword require to prepare and ship an order.

Synonyms

Use this section to view suggested alternatives for the words in the keyword or phrase you are researching to help further describe your item.

Top Listings

Use this section to view the top 100 listings for this search term. Assess your competitors’ titles, tags, listing age, views, and more. Basic members and Pro members can export or print the list for future reference. Click any listing title to view its Listing Audit page.

eRank displays each listing’s thumbnail, shop name, listing title, tags used, and the following statistics:

Listing Age: The number of days since the listing was created

Total Views: The number of views the listing has had since it was created

Daily Views: The average views per day the listing has had since it was created

Hearts: The total number of hearts (or favorites) the listing has had since it was created

Price: The price of the item (converted to USD if required)

About the data

Etsy and other marketplaces do not disclose their keyword search and click volumes. We get our data from leading 3rd party data analytics companies that are used by many Fortune 500 businesses. To ensure the highest possible accuracy, the search volume, click, and click through rates are based on the search behavior of millions of users who have opted in to share their data. While great effort goes into making sure these numbers are as accurate as possible, they should be regarded as estimates. The numbers reported here may differ from what other companies provide due to different data collection methodologies and data providers.

This tool is available to all eRank members. Free members can look up 50 keywords per day, Basic members can look up 100 keywords per day, and Pro members can look up 200 keywords per day.
