This tool performs detailed analyses of the top 100 listings found in Etsy search results for the keyword you specify. The Keyword Tool will help you get a sense of the most popular tags used by Etsy sellers, how often the keywords in those tags are searched for on Etsy, common price points, and other data to help you select keywords and optimize your listings.

How to Use

Keyword Statistics

Located in the Main Menu under Tools > Keyword Tool, type your search term in the “Enter keywords” text box and click the Search button. In the Keyword Statistics section, you’ll find the average number of Etsy searches per month, number of clicks and click-through rates (CTR), and estimated Etsy competition for your keyword.

“Average Clicks” reflects the count, averaged over the past 12 months, of listings that were clicked on. Average CTR shows the ratio of clicks to searches. Keywords with a high number of clicks or CTRs tell us that buyers are interested in the search results that they are seeing. These keywords may generate more views and sales than other choices.

Search Trends and Long Tail Graph

The Search Trends chart is interactive: hover over the lines to discover how this search term has performed over the past 15 months. The Long Tail Graph indicates how broad or how closely targeted your keyword is.

Word Cloud

Next on the Keyword Tool page you will find the “Most Popular Tags” word cloud. It too is interactive; clicking on any search term there will open a new Keyword Tool page for that keyword.

Most Popular Tags

Below the word cloud, you will see a table that includes the most popular related tags that eRank found in the listings it analyzed. You can export and print this table, as well as filter the keywords, and sort the columns. Tip: click on the column heading to sort the data by that column.

For each of these related tags, you can see the following information:

Tag Occurrences: the number of times eRank found that tag in the top 100 listings that were analyzed.

Average Searches (US): the average monthly searches the keyword has had over the past 12 months.

Average Clicks (US): the average monthly clicks the keyword has had over the past 12 months.

Average CTR (US): the average monthly click-through rate (CTR) the keyword has had over the past 12 months.

Competition: this shows you how many other listings can be found in search results for the keyword you specified.

Search Trend: this graph shows you how the popularity of the keyword has changed over the past 15 months.

Pinterest Searches: the average monthly searches on Pinterest by people in the US over the past 12 months.

Google Searches: the estimated number of searches on Google each month.

Google Competition: indicates the level of advertiser competition on Google for this keyword. The score ranges from 0 to 1, with 0 being no competition and 1 being high. High competition is a good indicator of customer purchase intent.

Google CPC: the estimated CPC (cost per click) being paid by advertisers who are bidding on this keyword.

Long Tail Keyword: these keywords get less search traffic but likely have a higher conversion rate because they are more specific.

Google Trends: links directly to the Google Trends website that will show you more information about how the popularity of that keyword on Google changes over time.

Price Range

The Price Range bar chart shows you the price range of the top 100 listings that have this search term. Hover over the chart to see the number of listings found at the various price points to help you competitively price your products.

Top Listings

In the Top Listings section, you’ll see the top 100 listings for this search term. Here you can assess your competitors’ titles, tags, listing age, views, and more.

For each listing, eRank will show its thumbnail, shop name, title. and tags used, as well as the following statistics:

Listing Age: how old the listing is (in days).

Total Views: the number of views the listing has had since it was created.

Daily Views: the average views per day the listing has had since it was created.

Hearts: the total number of hearts (or favorites) the listing has had since it was created.

Price: the price of the item (converted to USD if required).

Most Popular Categories & Synonyms

Here you will find the top five categories in which this keyword appeared. In Synonyms you’ll find just that: suggested alternatives for the words in the search term you are researching to help you further describe your item.

About the data

Etsy and other marketplaces do not disclose their keyword search and click volumes. We get our data from a leading 3rd party data analytics company that is trusted and used by many Fortune 500 companies. To ensure the highest possibly accuracy, the search volume, click, and click through rates are based on the search behavior of millions of opt-in panelists. While great effort goes into making sure these numbers are as accurate as possible, they should be considered estimates. The numbers reported here may differ from what other companies provide due to different data collection methodologies and data providers.
