This tool performs detailed analyses of the top 100 listings found in Etsy search results for the keywords you specify. The Keyword Tool will help you get a sense of the most popular tags used by Etsy sellers, how often the keywords in those tags are searched for on Etsy, common price points, and other data to help you select keywords and optimize your listings.
The Keyword Tool gives you insight into your competitors listings, what tags they use, how they price their items, how they write their titles, and how many views and favorites these listings get.
How to Use
Located in the main menu under Tools > Keyword Tool, type your search term in the Enter keywords text box and click the Search button. Under the Keyword Statistics section, you’ll view the estimated number of Etsy searches per month, competition, clicks and click-through rates (CTR) for listings, and can explore various statistics.
Clicks is the estimated number of listings that get clicked on. CTR (click through rate) is the ratio of clicks to searches. Keywords with high clicks or CTR’s tell us that buyers are interested in the search results that they are seeing and may generate more views and sales than other keywords.

Hover over the interactive “Etsy and Google Search Trends” line chart to discover how this search term has performed over the past 15 months. See at a glance where it sits on the “Long Tail” graph.
Below these on the Keyword Tool page, you will find the Most Popular Tags word cloud. It too is interactive; clicking on any search term there will open a new “Keyword Tool” page for that keyword.
Most Popular Tags
Below the word cloud, you will see a table that includes the most popular related tags that eRank found in the listings it analyzed. You can export and print this table, as well as filter the keyword list and sort the columns. Tip: click on the column heading to sort by that column.
For each tag that is display, you can see columns containing the following information:
Tag Occurrences: the number of times we found that tag in the top 100 listings that were analyzed.
Average Searches (US): the average monthly searches the keyword has had over the past 12 months.
Average Clicks (US): the average monthly clicks the keyword has had over the last three months.
Average CTR (US): the average monthly click-through rate (CTR) the keyword has had over the past 12 months.
Competition: this shows you how many other listings can be found in search results for the keyword you specified.
Search Trend: this graph shows you how the popularity of the keyword has changed over the past 15 months.
Google Shopping Searches: the average monthly searches the keyword has had on the Google Shopping over the past 12 months.
Google Searches: the estimated number of searches on Google each month.
Google Competition: the estimated competition level for advertisers bidding on this keyword. This is a range of 0 – 1.0.
Google CPC: the estimated CPC (cost per click) being paid by advertisers who are bidding on this keyword.
Long Tail Keyword: a simple indicator to help you identify potential long tail keywords.
Google Trends: a convenient link to the Google Trends website that will show you more information about how the popularity of that keyword on Google changes over time.
The Price Range bar chart shows you the price range of the top-100 listings that have this search term. Move your mouse over the chart to see the number of listings found at the various price points to help you competitively price your own products.
In the Top Listings section, you’ll see the top 100 listings for this search term. Here, you can assess your competitors’ titles, tags, listing age, views, and more.
For each of the top listings, eRank will show the thumbnail, shop name, title and tags used, as well as the following statistics:
Listing Age: how old the listing is (in days).
Total Views: the number of views the listing has had since it was created.
Daily Views: the average views per day the listing has had since it was created.
Hearts: the total number of hearts (or favorites) the listing has had since it was created.
Price: the price of the item (converted to USD if required).
Most Popular Categories & Synonyms
The Most Popular Categories section displays the top five categories by rank for this keyword or phrase. In Synonyms you’ll find just that: suggested alternatives for the words in the search phrase you are researching to help you further describe your item.
About the data
Etsy and other marketplaces do not disclose their keyword search and click volumes. We get our data from a leading 3rd party data analytics company that is trusted and used by many Fortune 500 companies. To ensure the highest possibly accuracy, the search volume, click, and click through rates are based on the search behavior of millions of opt-in panelists. While great effort goes into making sure these numbers are as accurate as possible, they should be considered estimates. The numbers reported here may differ from what other companies provide due to different data collection methodologies and data providers.
