Warning: Beware of trademarked terms. This report may contain keywords that are trademarked. USPTO Trademark Database. NOTE: In order to get you this report as soon as possible, search-volume figures in this report are based on eRank’s best early estimates. Keyword search counts and rankings get confirmed by mid-month; some ranks change a bit but not by much.
We like to start with what we call “climbers.” These are the Top 20 keywords that weren’t on the previous month’s Top 20. Which means they climbed highest fastest most recently. In our last report, you had fourteen! Including two screamers – searches that ranked nowhere in the previous month’s Top 1000.
As for March? Welp, now you have sixteen climbers, four of them screamers. And that spells fun to us data geeks!
These climbed highest fastest in March
In order by current rank, here are your March climbers, their previous rank (if any) shown last.
#1 gift (screamer; didn’t make the Top 1000 in February)
#2 elbows up (screamer)
#5 birthday gift for her (screamer)
#6 rings, up from #32
#7 mug, up from #22
#8 wall art, up from #48
#10 stickers, up from #31

#12 dog, up from #147
#14 canada, up from #138
#15 vtuber, up from #142

#17 ring, up from #299 (but rings ranked #32)
#18 personalised necklace gift (screamer)
#19 phone case, up from #28
#20 vtuber model, up from #227
Much as we’d love to, we can’t discuss them all; we know you’re busy. And we also need to save room here at the end for your Monthly CTR Roundup. So let’s see how we can whittle it down, starting with the screamers.
Your top Etsy searches that climbed highest fastest from farthest down
Three of these screamers we can skip. Doing the US and UK reports, we tracked them down to Etsy homepage promo buttons. So that takes care of screamers #1 gift, #5 birthday gift for her, and #18 personalised necklace gift. Which leaves us with just one: #2 elbows up, and we’re sure we’ve never seen it before on any Top 20 list.
First, for anyone reading along who’s not Canadian: “elbows up” is a hockey term conveying readiness to fight. Specifically, legend Gordie Howe’s practice of keeping his elbows up to ward off belligerents on the opposing team. And now that we all understand why it’s trending, let’s go check it out in Keyword Tool.
Ranked 2nd in your Top 20 Etsy keywords: “elbows up”
A screamer, alright: check out this classic spike.

Hmm. Disappointing it doesn’t have the Trend Alert banner that indicates it’s still trending this week. That said, given zero search history in the prior 14 months, it’s doing well. In your March Top 1000 alone, there are twelve more shopper searches with the phrase!
In rank order, here they are.
#2 elbows up
#176 elbows up canada
#217 elbows up sticker
#686 elbows up tshirt*
#688 elbows up t shirt
#689 elbows up sweatshirt
#690 elbows up shirt*
#692 elbows up merchandise*
#695 elbows up hoodie*
#698 elbows up decal*
#699 elbows up bracelet
#700 elbows up canada shirt
#701 elbows up canada fridge magnet
Those with asterisks have a March click-through rate (CTR) of 100% or higher. Which means plenty of purchase intent! If you’re nimble, maybe you can catch some of this wave.
By the way, speaking of waves, did that “purchase intent” reference leave anyone at sea? If so, here’s a useful tip.
New to selling online? On ecommerce sites, click-through rates reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs signal “purchase intent.” That is, a shopper more likely searching with the intention to purchase (as opposed to one who’s just browsing).
Knowing what the most popular search terms are now with Canada’s Etsy shoppers is crucial, yes. But for insight into which of these trending products are selling best, look to their click-through rates.
Ranking 12th: “dog,” up from #147
We don’t recall “dog” ever making your Top 20 either. If it has, it’s been years.

But bow WOW! For March, “dog” has a monthly CTR of 149%! (150% is as high as ours go.) And its Average CTR is nothing to sneeze at either: 119%. In your March Top 1000 alone, you have 18 shopper searches with the word “dog.” Too many to list here.
So we’ll just say this: don’t be daunted by that red Etsy Competition stat. Because we checked dog’s Related Searches table in Keyword Tool, and it’s got more good news. The broad keyword “dog” is the only one there with competition in the red! And only a few are even yellow – which means nearly all are green for go. So, are you here looking for what’s selling best on Etsy in Canada now? This niche appears worth researching.
In 14th place: “canada,” up from #138
This is the third keyword in a row we don’t believe we’ve ever seen make your Top 20. So we’re eager to have a look.

To include any keywords with “canadian,” we searched your Top 1000 keywords for “canad.” Didn’t matter; they’re all “canada” and there are 14. Three you’ve already seen; they’re on the “elbows up” list above. Including them, here’s all 14 of your top Etsy searches with “canada.” Those with asterisks have March CTRs of 100%+.
#14 canada*
#176 elbows up canada
#251 canada patch
#304 shop canada*
#312 canada is not for sale*
#495 elegant canada is not for sale magnet
#529 canada hat
#624 canada is not for sale
#694 dog tags canada*
#700 elbows up canada shirt
#701 elbows up canada fridge magnet
#997 canada sweatshirt
#999 canada shirt*
#1000 canada tshirt
Maybe hold off and keep an eye on these for just a bit. See if any get a “Trending Now” banner back.
15th-ranked “vtuber,” up from #142
It’s #20 “vtuber model” that has the highest monthly CTR in your Top 20 Etsy keywords for March. But “vtuber” is not bad; its CTR for March is 130%, fourth-highest of your Top 20. And even for Etsy, which has the most high CTRs of the ecommerce sites we cover, 130% is remarkable.

Look at that: superb Keyword Stats! But first, in case anyone’s wondering, here’s a quick explainer. Originating from “Virtual YouTuber,” Vtubers are online entertainers who use animated avatars (“Vtuber models”) as virtual personas. To establish a unique identity and stand out from the crowd, many invest in custom-made avatars. And that’s where Etsy sellers come in.
Your Top 1000 only has these two searches, though. So to find out more, we entered “vtuber” into Etsy search to see what autocompletes it might suggest.

As you can see, it goes beyond customizing or creating unique avatars. The models need clothes! Backgrounds! Assets! (Like props, accessories, overlays, emotes, alerts, the works!) And because these involve specialized skills, competition from your fellow Canadian sellers is virtually nil.
Ranked 20th: vtuber model, up from #227
While a “vtuber” search could be for any of a range of products, “vtuber model” is more specific. So it has fewer searches; in March, a thousand less than “vtuber.”

Because it’s more specific though, its March click-through rate is higher: 150%! These shoppers want avatars, not necessarily the accessories and sundries a search for “vtuber” includes. Therefore, the listings in “vtuber model” search results got more clicks. (Which illustrates nicely why we recommend using longer-tailed keywords.)
That said, for 12-mo CTRs, these two are running neck and neck. With 119%, vtuber’s actually ahead by a nose. It will be fun to see where they (and their superb stats) go from here. In terms of March search volume, they’ve outperformed a handful of your Top 20 regulars. They even trounced “poster” and “keychain” and “rug” – three on your Q1 Top 20 but not March’s.
And that’s it for this Top 20! Next, we’ll analyze what your Top 250 keywords tell us about what’s selling best on Etsy Canada now.
Roundup! Canada’s top Etsy searches with 125%+ March CTRs
As mentioned, of the online marketplaces we cover, Etsy has the most keywords with high CTRs. That said, even on Etsy, CTRs of 125%+ are rare. Note too, these calculations are based exclusively on our most recent full month of data. Therefore, regardless of their 12-mo CTRs, of your 250 highest-trending products, these show the most purchase intent now.
Just a word of caution before we begin. Some of these shopper searches could cause an Etsy seller problems. Whether they be protected by intellectual property rights or prohibited by Etsy, please look before you leap!
Ranked from #1-50
(For readability, we’ll only shout out individual CTRs above 140% – wildly high. But all qualifiers will have at least 125%.)
Interesting! Etsy lists typically have just one or two qualifiers in their Top 20. So this is probably a record: yours has five this month! #7 mug; #12 dog (149%); #15 vtuber; #19 phone case, and #20 vtuber model with its 150%.
Moving on to the rest of your Top 50, there’s a pair at #22-23: keycaps (149%) and candle. Skip two and there’s another pair: #26-27 birthday gift (146%) and phone cases. The next three are all high flyers! #29 t shirt has 145%; #32 print on demand and #34 box both have 149%. Next, from #101 through #150
The first qualifier here isn’t until #118 but it has got a March CTR of 149%: wedding mirror decal. And then come a flurry: the pair at #120-121 vintage and wedding guestbook both have 148%. Skip just one and there’s another pair: #123-124 bachelorette shirt (149%) and birth flower gift. Right after at #126 is sewing patterns, also with 149%.
Next, beginning with #133, are five in a row with 147%+. The first is valorant, then two pairs: #135-136 birthday, beetle; and #139-140 alien stage and anime the eras tour. Skip just one for #142 plr, and then with a whopping 150% is #144 spoon rest. And this section wraps with three in a row with 147%+ CTRs: #146 one piece; #148 naruto; and #150 lamps.
Ranked #151 through #200
Straight out of the gate, the next eight all have 147% and up. First is #151 lsu tigers football. Then the trio at #153-155: felt, expense tracker, and digital camera. The next of these is #160 fivem, followed by #163 spiderwood, and #165-166 anime and arcane.
Following that run of eight high flyers is humble qualifier #167 matcha bowl. And then the list goes quiet until #183 chrome heart glasses with a fancy 148%. As have the final three here: #188 cheese board; #196 sewing pattern; and #199 gift box.
And finally, from #201-250
First off here is #202 owl with a suitably distinguished 148%. And then, while sparse, all the rest of your Top 250 qualifiers have 147%+ CTRs for March. These are #210 y2k; #219 chrome hearts; #233 menu; #236 ocean orb; and the last is #242 home.
We hope some of these prove to be profitable leads for you!
