Struggling to stand out on Etsy? With millions of sellers competing for visibility, finding low-competition, high-search keywords can feel impossible. eRank’s latest Keyword Tool update makes it easier than ever—saving you time and giving you a competitive edge. Let’s dive in!

Access the Keyword Tool

Start by typing a keyword into the search bar at the top of your eRank dashboard and then click the magnifying glass.

This takes you to the Keyword Tool results page, where you’ll see valuable data like keyword statistics, search trends, and searches by country. Scroll down to the “Keyword Ideas” section—this is where the magic happens! Here, you can refine your search and uncover niche keywords that buyers are actively searching for but have less competition.

Filter for Lower Competition Keywords

The Keyword Tool provides key metrics such as average searches, clicks, click-through rate (CTR), and competition. To customize which columns you see, click the “Columns” button above the keyword list.

Step 1: Apply a Competition Filter

Let’s say we’re researching “silver ring.” The top keyword results often have high competition, making it harder for new sellers to rank

To find lower-competition alternatives, click the funnel icon next to the Etsy Competition column. From the dropdown menu, you can select “Greater than”, “Less than”, or “Equals to” and enter a numerical amount for the filter.

For this example, let’s select “Less than” for the filter, enter 50,000 as the threshold, and click “Apply” to filter out highly competitive keywords. The results show only those keywords with competition lower than 50,000.

Step 2: Sort by Search Volume

Once you’ve filtered for low competition, click on “Average Searches” to sort results from highest to lowest. Now, you’ll see keywords that balance lower competition with strong search volume—exactly what you want!

From these results, you’ll notice several high-potential keywords with a strong click-through rate (CTR). A high CTR suggests that shoppers are engaging with these keywords, making them ideal for your product listings.

Refine Your Results Further

The column filters work on multiple metrics including:

  • Average Searches: Find keywords buyers are actively searching for.
  • Average Clicks: See which keywords shoppers are clicking on most.
  • CTR (Click-Through Rate): Identify keywords that lead to engaged shoppers.
  • Competition: Focus on keywords where your listings have a better chance to rank.

Experiment with different filters—combine them or test them separately—to uncover the best keywords for your niche.

Next Steps

If you see a keyword that you want to save for easy access later, click the star next to that keyword. This saves that keyword to your most current Keyword List. Use the three dots menu beside it to add that keyword to multiple keyword lists, remove a list, or add a new list.

Curious about a keyword? Click on it to unlock even more insights by accessing the Keyword Tool results for that specific keyword to analyze more thoroughly.

You can also adjust the filters for Average Searches, Average Clicks, or CTR to uncover additional hidden opportunities in your niche.
