Well, as you can tell at a glance, NVIDIA and Pokemon continue their near-total dominance of eBay’s Top 20. Only four are neither one. Huh. Not something we’ve seen before on eBay – nor on any other site we cover here. Not to this degree. Let’s go see what we can see, shall we?
Top 20 eBay searches climbing highest fastest
As we mentioned in January’s report, normally the pace of change in eBay’s Top 20 is glacial. That said, the reason the subject came up was because it wasn’t the case in January. In January, eBay had seven climbers – Top 20 keywords not on the previous month’s Top 20 list. We were shocked. In terms of Top 20 turnover, eBay’s norm is to have about three be new Month on Month.
So we were twice as shocked by February’s data. First, we discovered that Etsy’s US Top 20 had only four climbers – less than half of its current norm. And then when we got to eBay, we found the opposite. It has eight climbers this month, more than double its average.
Here are eBay’s, in order by current rank, their former rank last.
#1: 5090, up from #32
#3: rtx 5090, up from #74
#7: 5080, up from #848
#8: rtx 5080, up from #714
#15: rtx 4070, up from #23
#17: 3ds, up from #31
#18: 4070 ti super, up from #55
#19: rtx 4080, up from #34
As we said, NVIDIA is absolutely dominating! But we’ve been talking about NVIDIA every month for months. Those of you not into (quote) “high-performance graphics cards designed for gaming enthusiasts” (unquote), must be yawning already.
So, let’s just do their two climbers that covered the most ground to reach the top this past month. Then we’ll take a quick look at the one climber that’s not NVIDIA’s. As quick as we can. Because we’re eager to get to this month’s CTR Roundup. See what we can tell about what’s been selling best on eBay these days.
7th-ranked “5080,” up from #848
On January 6, NVIDIA unveiled the GeForce RTX 5080 at the CES tradeshow in Las Vegas.

But it didn’t actually launch though until the last day in January. By then, 150,000+ shoppers had already been ransacking eBay for it. Which is odd; when it comes to the latest, hottest tech, Amazon usually gets the traffic.
Curious now, we did a little digging, and aha! Reportedly, by mid-January authorized retailers were already offering preorders at 70% above NVIDIA’s $999 list price. If true, mystery solved; any product that can be scalped will be on eBay. We just did a quick google now (March 16). All the top Google results we got for “5080 eBay for sale” appear to be sold out. Including those listed at three times list price.
In light of this, do we even need to look at “rtx 5080”? Just for the record then, quick as we can.
8th-ranked “rtx 5080,” up from #714
To be crystal clear, this is the same product, just with more of its proper name included. Its full name is something like “NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5080 and AI-powered DLSS 4 Founder’s Edition graphics card series.” Which gets even longer once it’s passed on to NVIDIA’s add-in board partners. (NVIDIA focuses on the core GPU technology. Its AIB partners handle the manufacturing, branding, and distribution of the final product.)

That said, of the five 5080-related searches in February’s Top 1000, the longest is #253 “nvidia rtx 5080 series.” Since they’re all for the same product, we added up their search volumes. There were 477,250. Just in February. Just for the 5080.
And February’s No. 1 search, “5090,” which launched alongside it, has 409,010. Just for that top search. Altogether in the Top 1000, there are nine 5090-related searches. We won’t tally their search volume; suffice to say, it’s oodles.
Instead, let’s move on to our sole non-NVIDIA climber.
17th-ranked “3ds,” up from #31
This one only had to leapfrog 13 places to get back in the Top 20. We say, “back in” because it’s been there before.

The 3DS is a Nintendo handheld game console released in February, 2011. It’s sure had a good run, making eBay’s Top 20 fourteen years later! Especially given that it was officially discontinued in September 2020. Yet it’s currently got 10,010 searches more than its previous high, which was January 2024. Year on Year, it’s up 71%.
Why is it still trending in 2025? According to Google’s AI:
The Nintendo 3DS is experiencing a resurgence in popularity in 2025, particularly among retro gaming enthusiasts and collectors, due to its strong library of games, modding scene, and ability to emulate other consoles.
As for why it was trending in February specifically? On February 3, MSN featured an absolutely rhapsodic story, which appears to have echoed throughout YouTube and TikTok. (Or coincidence maybe, all these gamer content creators praising it to the skies at the same time.)
We just hope it doesn’t wind up bricked like poor Car Thing was this past December. Because out of these three climbers we’ve looked at, “3ds” shows the most purchase intent for the month.
Quick tutorial: Click-through rates and purchase intent
Are you new to selling online? If so, here’s a useful tip!
On ecommerce sites, click-through rates indicate how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs reflect purchase intent. That is, a shopper who’s more likely searching with the intention to purchase (as opposed to people just browsing).
Yes, discovering what eBay’s most popular products are now is vital. But for insight into which products are selling best, look to the click-through rates.
Note too that of the marketplaces we cover, eBay CTRs are the lowest, by far. Whether they are 12-mo Average CTRs or calculated for a specific month. And eBay also has the fewest high CTRs, count-wise, while Etsy has by far the most.
This has been consistently true since we began covering eBay. In last month’s eBay trend report, we speculated about why. Etsy’s an outlier; so is eBay. We do believe it’s mostly due to their respective customer base.
Many who shop Etsy are seeking something unique. They may only have a vague idea of what they want; say, a gift for their mom. In fact, plenty do start their search literally with “gift for mom.” Then just click a lot of listings in their search results for ideas.
Conversely, eBay bills itself as the destination for “Top brands, low prices.” Our data suggests that more of eBay’s customers arrive on site already knowing exactly what they want. An RTX 5090, for example, as 318,920 eBay shoppers searched for in February – at a bargain price. Only 64% of shoppers clicked through, and those probably didn’t need to. There couldn’t have been many, if any, bargains on those.
Roundup! Top eBay trending searches with 70%+ CTRs now
For these, we analyze the Top 500 eBay trending searches. See what they have to tell us about what’s selling best on eBay these days. Using our latest full month of data (February), we’ve calculated which have the highest monthly CTRs. Regardless of their 12-mo Average CTRs, these are the products that show the most purchase intent now.
Oh, and one last thing before we begin. A good number of these are trademarked. Or otherwise prohibited or tricky to sell on eBay. Look before you leap!
Ranked from #1-100
In February’s Top 20 eBay searches, there was one that came so close! It’s #4 pokemon with a 69% CTR for the month. And from here, for readability, we’ll only shout out individual CTRs that are 100% and up. (Sky high for eBay!) But all qualifiers will have at least 70%. As you’ll see, eBay CTRs even that high are exceptional.
We need to skip ahead quite a bit for our first true qualifier. But it’s worth it: at #33 is macbook with a monthly CTR for February of 130%! Then nothing until the 80s, where there’s a flurry. At #80 is xbox; then #84 ssd; and then #87 roblox account; it has 126%.
From #101-200
Straight out of the gate here is #101 fortnight account. And at #116, our highest flyer yet: digital camera has a monthly CTR for February of 150%! Following along behind at #129 is pc case.

Ranked #301-400
At #315 is simply 0 [zero]. We tried it in eBay search; the top autocomplete it suggests is “0w20 full synthetic oil.” Do with that what you will. Thereafter, three highflyers in a row: #324 michael jordan with 135%; #329 new 3ds with 105%; and #345 psp 3000 with 137%.
Next are #352 morgan silver dollar and #364 apple watch ultra 2. Then at #366-367 another pair: hard drive (150%!) and windows 10 pro key. Skip ahead and at #379 there’s mm2 with 107%. And the last qualifier in the Top 400 is #398 shure sm7b.
And finally, from #401-500
The final stretch starts off strong: it’s #408 converse with 134%. Next are #412 2ds xl and #431 nintendo switch games. Then another as high as they go: #442 lebron with 150%.
Next, two pairs in a row. The first is #448-449 logitech g29 and anime adventures (it’s got 129%). The second pair: #452-453 canon powershot (120%) and xbox 360 controller (100%).
Thereafter, we have to skip a bunch to get to the next few. #479 dsi xl; #484 rog ally; #486 sony walkman. And wrapping up February’s Monthly CTR Roundup on a high is #493 chrome hearts with 149% for the month.
We hope some of these prove to be profitable leads for you.
