Huh: a year ago in April, your Top 20 had four gift searches with the word “mum.” This year, there are none. In fact, “mum” only appears one time in this entire Top 1000, #155 “personalised gift for mum.” However, there are two gift searches that use “mom.” And 12 that have “mother,” including No. 5, “mothers day.”
Ranked 5th: “mothers day,” up from #462 in March

We know the spelling “mom” is more commonly used in Canada. So it’s possible all those 2025 “mum” searches (seven altogether) were Etsy’s doing. Canadian shoppers clicked Etsy homepage promos and, whether labeled as “mom” or “mum,” Etsy saved them as “mum” searches. We’ve seen this before.
So, which should you use? As search engines improve, they will recognize gift searches for “mother” and “mom” and “mum” are synonyms. That said, we are not certain they’re quite there yet, so hedge your bets. Include all three somewhere in your Mother’s Day gift listings.
Canada’s top Etsy searches climbing highest fastest
These nine climbers are the keywords in this month’s Top 20 that weren’t in your last Top 20. We’ve listed them in order by their current rank, followed by their rank in March. This way, you can see at a glance what climbed highest fastest, and which are new.
Ranked 3rd, “homedecor” (new; not in March’s Top 1000)
5th: “mothers day,” up from #462
8th: “rings,” up from #98 (but “ring” was #24)
10th: “gift,” up from #32
12th: “lamp,” up from #22
14th: “crochet patterns,” up from #378 (but “crochet pattern” was #31)
16th: “sonic birthday invitation,” up from #330
18th: “wedding,” up from #57
19th: “press on nails,” up from #62
The US had “homedecor” (yes, one word) in their Top 20, too. Here’s yours.

The key question is similar to that for “mum” and “mom.” If you use “homedecor” in your listing, will it bring shoppers who searched for “home decor”? Might “homedecor” work as well as “home decor,” yet retain its own Keyword Stats? Because compare them (above) with these stats for “home decor.”
Ranked #405: “home decor,” down from #33

That Competition stat: over a million listings, yikes! Wouldn’t it be nice if you could attract “home decor” shoppers with “homedecor” and benefit from its low competition? That’s the dream. But we just don’t know yet whether it would work that way. We data geeks here at eRank are investigating this. If you want to do some A/B testing, we’d love to hear how it goes.
As for the rest of your climbers, all but two are Top 20 frequent flyers. And while “sonic birthday invitation” is making its Top 20 debut, you’d need a license for that. Sega owns the intellectual property rights to Sonic the Hedgehog, including character merchandising. But your other climber is another story; it’s a unicorn.
Ranked #19: “press on nails,” up from #62

For anyone new, “unicorn” is our pet name for products that so many naysayers claim do not exist. They say Etsy is hopelessly over-saturated. They insist a high-ranked product with established search history and low competition that’s selling well is impossible to find.
Yet, we keep on finding them. Indeed, we found bumper crops for this month’s US trend report and the UK’s. (Just search them for “unicorn.”) And “press on nails” here is clearly one of yours.
It looks pretty perfect in every respect. We especially like that CTR: 129% for a 12-mo average shows exceptional purchase intent. Here’s our customary explainer on that for anyone could use one.
Top Etsy searches and purchase intent
Especially for those of you who are new to eRank or selling online, this will be a useful tip.
On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of ‘purchase intent.’ These are people more likely searching with the intention to buy, as opposed to those just browsing.
You’ll want to keep up with Canada’s highest trending Etsy searches, of course. But for insight into what’s selling best on Etsy now, look to their click-through rates. It’s why we end our trend reports with a Monthly CTR Roundup. You’ll learn which of Canada’s top Etsy searches have had the highest CTRs most recently.
Roundup! Canada’s top Etsy keywords with 135%+ CTRs now
Here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy? Then this is for you! It’s your insider access to which of this month’s 200 highest trending Etsy searches show the most purchase intent. Note that these calculations were drawn exclusively from your most recent full month of data. So, regardless of their 12-mo CTRs, most of these products are what’s selling best on Etsy Canada now. Any related to Mother’s Day, add to a Keyword List for next year.
Ranking #1-50
Note: For readability, we will only shout out individual CTRs that are sky high. Just keep in mind our 135% threshold indicates exceptional purchase intent. Which means any qualifying keywords you see here that interest you are worth researching.
There are four such qualifiers in your Top 20 this month, up from three last month. Pokemon, digital planner, sonic birthday invitation, and wedding. Let’s take a quick peek at high flyer “digital planner.”
#15 “digital planner” – April CTR: 149%

A bit too much competition to qualify as a unicorn, but “digital planner” looks promising. As mentioned, a 12-mo average CTR this high – 132% – is extraordinary. And the consistency of demand over the past 15 months is also exceptional. Searches never dipped below 1,700 and that low only once.
Moving on to the rest of your Top 50, next up is #24 pokmon [sic] birthday invitation. Then there’s a pair, #30-31 keycaps and 3d print. And even though we just did “digital planner,” you have to see this one.
#30 “keycaps” – April CTR: 144%

It’s another unicorn, and like “press on nails” is pretty darn perfect in every respect. Here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy? How about what’s selling best on Etsy? Here’s a lead for you.
Resuming the Roundup, next up is another pair, both high flyers: #42-43 bachelorette and bridesmaid gifts. “Bachelorette” has a current CTR of 150%: they get no higher!
Ranked from #51-100
At #54-55 are deadlock and bathroom, followed by #68 notion templates. Then at #80-82, a trio: engagement gifts, baby announcement (149%), and personalized jewelry. Next: #84 gold necklace, #87 book stamp, #94 tarot and #96 sofa. And the final three in the Top 100 are suncatcher, svg and sticker. “Sticker” has 150%, but “suncatcher” is a unicorn.
#98 “suncatcher” – April CTR: 148%

“Suncatcher” made both the US and UK Roundups this month, too. It’s also got a “low-barrier of entry” – a product that’s easy to make from inexpensive materials. Hard to believe competition isn’t higher. In the US and UK, it is. So, make hay while the sun shines?
Next, ranked #101-150
Straight out of the gate, another unicorn! What’s more, this one’s a unicorn for the US and UK, too.
#101 “pngtuber” – April CTR: 148%

In your trend report last month, we featured “vtuber model.” VTubers use rigged 2D or 3D models with real-time motion tracking. PNGTubers use static images (PNGs) that just swap or jump when they speak. For streaming content creators, it’s a popular alternative to the advanced avatars VTubers need.
PNGtubing offers an accessible, low-cost entry point into virtual content creation. And for Etsy sellers, it might also be a good way to begin. Looking for ideas of what to sell on Etsy in a niche you could make your own? Judging by the low competition (so far!), this one’s certainly worth researching.
Next, three more high flyers: #102-104 printables, candle, basketball picture. They are followed by another at #108: embroidered; it has 148% for the month. Skip just one and there’s a quintet: custom keycaps, carnelian (149%!), cats, chatgpt, and chrome hearts glasses. Skip one again and there’s #116 frame with 149%. From there though, no more until the pair at #146-147: halloween and perfume oil. Both have 148%.
Finally, ranking #151-200
Here we open with another pair of high flyers, #164-165 ruby and selenite. But then there’s not another qualifier until the final three, a trio: #198-200 necklaces, pins, and digital download art.
And that’s a wrap for this month, fam. We really hope some of these leads prove to be profitable for you.
