Warning: Beware of trademarked terms. This report may contain keywords that are trademarked.  USPTO Trademark Database. NOTE: In order to get you this report as soon as possible, search-volume figures in this report are based on eRank’s best early estimates. By mid-month, keyword search counts get confirmed and some ranks change but usually not a lot.

There’s even more turnover in this Top 20 than you had last time. But none of October’s 17 climbers are as odd as some of those were. And from six screamers you’re down to three. Including one fun one we don’t believe we’ve ever seen make a Top 20 before. Since we’re too curious not to, we’ve got to stop for a quick peek at that one.

Ranked 16th: “cat” (screamer)

Eight keywords with the word “cat” did make the Top 1000 back in September. It’s just the one-word search that didn’t, qualifying October’s Top 20 appearance as a screamer.

On the left, Etsy UK keyword stats for the search “cat.” The line chart shows its search trend performance over the past 15 months. A pale gold badge indicates it continues to be popular with UK shoppers this week.

Seeing these search-history results (above right), we did a bit more digging. Turns out that three times last year, “cat” actually got more searches than it has now. But those months had higher overall search volume, so “cat” came just short of breaking into the Top 20. And this September was the same story: search volume in its Top 1000 was higher than usual.

From what we can tell, this does appear to be cat’s all-Etsy Top 20 debut. Oh, and did you notice the light gold badge above the Keyword Stats chart? That tells us “cat” is still trending in search this week. And we found it’s also got a monthly click-through rate for October of 150%. That’s as high as they go, which means “cat” has loads of purchase intent right now.

Tip! Top Etsy searches and purchase intent

For those of you who are new to selling online, this will be a useful tip.

On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of ‘purchase intent.’ These are people more likely searching with the intention to buy, as opposed to those just browsing.

So yes, it’s smart to keep up with the UK’s top Etsy keywords. But for insight into what’s selling best on Etsy, look to their click-through rates. It’s why we end these trend reports with a Monthly CTR Roundup. It lists which of your top 250 keywords have had the highest CTRs most recently.

Now, Etsy has the highest number of high CTRs of the top ecommerce sites. At least, Etsy’s Top 1000s do. That said, for one month this past summer, Etsy UK’s Top 1000 had more high CTRs than we’d ever seen. Then the following month, they reverted to the norm.

Welp, they’re back! A year ago, for the month of October your Top 20 monthly CTRs averaged 100.5%. That was on the high side of typical for Etsy Top 20s, which range around 96-100%. But the UK’s average monthly CTR for this October’s Top 20 is 137%. That’s wild! And it’s not only your Top 20. Throughout this entire Top 1000, your shoppers are showing a lot of purchase intent!

The UK’s top Etsy keywords climbing highest fastest

October’s climbers, listed in order by current rank, followed by their rank (if any) in September.

Ranked 2nd: “jewellery,” up from #88

3rd: “adult costume,” up from #245

5th: “christmas,” up from #102

6th: “personalised clothing gift,” screamer (didn’t make September’s Top 1000)

7th: “tote bag,” up from #48

8th: “digital products,” up from #765

9th: “earrings,” up from #31

10th: “stickers,” up from #54

11th: “wall art,” up from #40

12th: “poster,” up from #930

13th: “pokemon,” up from #22

14th: “womens clothing,” up from #35

15th: “tshirt,” screamer

16th: “cat,” screamer

17th: “christmas cards,” up from #42

19th: “3d printed,” up from #360

20th: “ring,” up from #266

We know you’re busy. And given your bounty of high CTRs, we want to devote what time there is to your Roundup. Let’s see if we can make quick work of these.

September’s launch of Etsy’s Marketplace Insights tool shook up every country’s Top 1000. Then in October, they all returned to normal. The only reason these climber counts are high is because favorites and seasonal searches reclaimed their rightful places. Take “tshirt:” it’s made several of your Top 20s this year.

Ranked 15th: “tshirt”

Both singular and plural forms are always in your Top 1000. Indeed, “tshirt” ranked 11th on the UK’s top Etsy keywords for all of 2024. For 14 of the past 15 months, “tshirt” has not dropped below 10,000 searches/mo – until September.

Same goes for “poster.” In September, it plummeted to #930, its only drop below 8,700 searches/mo in 15 months. “Digital products,” similar story. None of these are a climber in the usual sense, a keyword that’s suddenly gotten really popular. These have been among the UK’s top Etsy searches all along.

Only two keywords made their Top 20 debuts this month. “Cat” is one; this next is the other.

Ranked 6th: “personalised clothing gift”

The US also had this as a screamer this month. As we explained in their trend report, it’s got “Etsy promo” written all over it. And the US has several other brand-new keywords just like this one. All of them familiar search terms, just with “gifts” tacked onto the end.

Left, Etsy UK keyword stats for “personalised clothing gift.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.

Did anyone see this one anywhere on Etsy’s UK homepage? Or maybe it was a promo labeled “personalised clothing” under the “Gifts” tab. That could get recorded as a search for “personalised clothing gift.”

You seldom have searches for “personalised clothing,” though.

That Average CTR: under 20%! It doesn’t appear either version is worth your while to try to rank for. So, let’s go find more promising prospects, shall we?

Roundup! The UK’s top Etsy keywords with 125%+ CTRs now

If you’re here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy, then this is for you! Your insider access to which of the 250 top Etsy searches have had the highest CTRs most recently. Remember, high click-through rates are the best indicator of purchase intent. These calculations are based exclusively on our most recent full month of search and click data. Whatever their 12-mo CTRs, these products should be what’s selling best on Etsy in the UK now.

Before we begin, our usual word to the wise. Some of these shopper searches could cause an Etsy seller problems. Whether protected by intellectual property rights or prohibited by Etsy, please look before you leap.

Ranked #1-50

For the sake of readability, we won’t shout out individual CTRs. Instead, we’ll just list all shopper searches with CTRs of 125%+. Even for Etsy, a CTR that high is exceptional – certainly worth adding to a Keyword List for further research.

Back in September, its Top 20 had 11 qualifiers, down from your historic high of 14 in August. October easily breaks that record; it has 16! In the Top 10: halloween, adult costume, home decor, christmas, personalised clothing gift, tote bag, stickers. Ranked #11-20: wall art, poster, womens clothing, tshirt, cat, christmas cards, wedding, 3d printed, and ring.

In rank order through #30 are birthday, lingerie, press on nails, candles, wedding invitation and birthday card. Only two qualifiers between #30-40: dragon and pet costume. But starting at #41, there’s a bunch: candle, bookmark, bracelet, anniversary gift for her, birthday cards, t shirt, digital download, and home decor gift.

Ranking from #51-75

Wow, there are so many, right? So, from here we’ll batch the rest in groups of 25, starting with #51 hollow knight. Next you have mugs, doorknob, book lover gift, digital and lighting. Then phone case, wall decor, wall art and decor, stardew valley, personalised gift. Then from #70: anniversary, jewelry, christmas shirt, painting, liverpool, and cosy accessories gift.

From #76-100

This set begins with world of warcraft, stl and website. “Website” caught our eye; we don’t recall seeing that search before. So we looked it up.

#79 “website” – October CTR: 149%

Left, Etsy UK keyword stats for “website.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.

Interesting! For such a broad keyword, “website” has remarkably low competition. We scrolled down to its related searches table; the default sort is by search count. No. 2 was “wedding website.” That one got over 5,000 searches in September and has a 12-mo average CTR of 142%. If you’re here looking for what’s selling best on Etsy, this niche might be worth exploring.

Back on your Roundup, ranked #81-88 is an octet of qualifiers. Nails, football, f1, eurorack, book, skyrim, slaanesh daemon prince with wings, halloween shirt. Just five more in the Top 100: anniversary gift, christmas card, cat tree and halloween printable.

Ranking #101-125

Haha, #100 was halloween printable and #101 is stocking stuffers. Three times a year many of you UK sellers have to quickly pivot. First from Christmas to Valentine’s, then Valentine’s to Mother’s Day, and again from Halloween to Christmas. T’is the season: we hope it’s a good one for you!

Your next qualifiers are rugs, dad birthday card, twitch emotes, gift box, iphone 17 case. All with sky high October CTRs, by the way. And just as high are #111-113 keychain, arsenal, funny tshirt. Gracious, same for the rest here! From #116-125 are ten in a row, all with 140%+ for the month. Custom cd; cushion cover, courdory [sic], bulbasaur, chainsaw man, green, modded gamecube, modded psp, palestine and origami.

From #126-150

At #126 is plarail. We haven’t seen that keyword before. Being incorrigible data geeks, of course we had to investigate.

#126 “plarail” – October CTR: 149%

UK keyword stats for “plarail” and a line chart showing its 15-mo search trend performance. Right, a pie chart showing searchers by country; the UK has 100% for this keyword.

Turns out it’s a toy train and track system introduced in 1959 Japan by maker Takara Tomy. Characters “Thomas and Friends” were added in 1992 (we had heard of them). Its aesthetic is Kawaii – Japanese for “cute.” Certainly, all things cute and nostalgic are trending now, but that has been true for years. And Plarail’s fanbase was well-established before then.

As to why this is suddenly one of the UK’s top Etsy searches now, we’re stumped. But, for whatever reason, looks like the UK has the entire pie for people searching for these. And having 147% as an average CTR is nearly as rare. One for you vintage sellers?

Returning to the Roundup, next up are playmat, disney christmas shirt, demon slayer. Then at #133-136, there is a quartet, all CTR highflyers: zine, axe, bag, 3d print. But they are it for this section.

Ranked #151-175

From #156-159 is another quartet: metal wall art, personalised gifts, engagement gift, engagement gifts. Skip one and there’s boyfriend. Then #164-167, yet another quartet: wedding invite, taylor swift, baby shower gift, bags and accessory gifts. Skip two and there’s a quintet. Birthday gifts for her, birthday invitation, bathroom art, kpop demon hunters, and groomsmen gifts.

From #176-200

Straight out of the gate, nine in a row, all with CTRs of 140%+ for the month! Keffiyeh, iphone 17 pro max case, book nook, morse code bracelet, santa sack, cafe curtains, halloween wall decor, green rug, personalised christmas bauble. Skip one and there’s stray kids.

Skip two and at #189-195 you have another run of highflyers. With 147%+ CTRs: life of a showgirl, guitar strap, gundam, herbalism, herbs, iphone case, japanese. “Herbalism” and “herbs” are two more keywords we don’t recall seeing in any Roundups before. So we paused here to look up “herbs.”

#193 “herbs” – October CTR: 148%

Left, Etsy UK keyword stats for “herbs.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.
Left, Etsy UK keyword stats for “herbs.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.

There was a spurt this year in February (100 searches), March (200) and April (350). Otherwise, little interest until October’s spike. But if you’re wondering what to sell on Etsy, “herbs” might be worth adding to a Keyword List. See if it develops from here. It does have the gold Trending badge, so UK shoppers are still interested through the first week of November.

Only four more in this Top 200: they are helmet, hedgehog, junipurr 12g and kanga. Note that “hedgehog” ranked 14th in the US Top 20 this month! That was sure a first. But their hedgehog had a sad October CTR of just 28%. Yours has 148%!

Ranking #201-225

Off like at shot at #201 with a trio, all with 147%+ CTRs for the month: key, strade and tea. Then four in a row that start with “wall” (they all had 2,550 searches in October). These are wall clocks, wall mounted cat tree, wall mounted scratcher, wall mounted scratcher and hammock.

Next are four strong qualifiers beginning with “W”: warriors, watch box, wolves, wrathion. Then at #214-217, another quartet: yshtola, wednesday, spiderman mask, spiderman costume. Skip one and there’s starwars (yep, one word). Then this section wraps up with another quartet, all highflyers. From #221-225: tshirt design, tshirts, tote bags, towels and runescape.

And finally, ranked #225-250

At #226 is “slash ship” sambucky. Skip two for a septet: scourge, skincare, slayers, silver jewellery, snoopy, pngtuber, pikmin. Then at #238-243, a sextet, all with 147%+ CTRs for the month. Fallout, dwarf, doll house, digimon, diary, gothic. And hey, all the rest are highflyers, too! Cufflinks, calendar, bodypillow (one word) and bookshelf.

We hope some of these prove to be useful leads for you!
