Half the list this month are either climbers or screamers. That is, half didn’t make the last Top 20; three of them not even the Top 1000. Still, for Etsy Top 20 lists, it’s an average rate of turnover. And we suspect all three screamers are Etsy’s doing. Mostly because the UK, Canada, and Australia also have them too. Here’s one.

Ranked 5th: “last minute gifts,” screamer

This many Etsy shoppers around the globe suddenly decided to type “last minute gifts” into search? For the first time ever? It’s more likely Etsy had an enticing promo on its homepage that got all these clicks. And it looks like Etsy knew what it was doing. Because lots of its US shoppers not only clicked the promo. They went on to click through lots of listings they were shown. Which in turn indicates lots of purchase intent.

Top searches on Etsy and purchase intent

Any of you new to selling online? This will be a useful tip.

On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of ‘purchase intent.’ These are people more likely searching with the intention to buy, as opposed to those just browsing.

You’ll want to keep up with the top Etsy searches, yes. But for insight into which are selling best, look to their click-through rates. It’s why we end these trend reports with a Monthly CTR Roundup. You’ll see which of the current Top 250 keywords have had the highest CTRs most recently. First though, let’s get to the rest of this month’s Top 20 climbers.

Top 20 keywords climbing highest fastest

In current rank order, here are December’s climbers, followed by their rank (if any) in November.

Ranked No. 1: “gift,” up from #52

2nd: “jewelry gift,” screamer (didn’t rank in November’s Top 1000)

5th: “last minute gifts,” screamer

7th: “personalized ornaments,” up from #968

8th: “wall art,” up from #28

14th: “kpop demon hunters,” up from #78

15th: “mug,” up from #29

16th: “crochet pattern,” up from #46

17th: “personalized portrait,” screamer

19th: “crochet patterns,” up from #70

Speaking of last-minute gifts, we’re always dismayed to see searches for personalized items hitting December Top 20 lists. Getting these made-to-order sales last minute has to be so stressful.

Ranked 7th: “personalized ornaments,” up from #968

Left, Etsy keyword stats for the shopper search “personalized ornaments.” The line chart shows its search trend performance over the past 15 months.

For pity’s sake, shoppers had all of November to order these, yet we see most weren’t even searching yet! We feel for you. And the next climber had even fewer searches in November; this one didn’t even crack the Top 1000.

Ranked 17th: “personalized portrait” screamer

Well, that “Trending in Search!” gold badge tells us that it’s still trending now, the first week in January. Hopefully, it’s people shopping for Valentine gifts. Fingers crossed!

The most surprising Top 20 climbers this month are the two for crochet patterns. Especially given how competitive it is for any search to make the Top 20 in November and December. Nevertheless, “crochet” was a climber in November, and this month there are two.

Ranked 16th: “crochet pattern,” up from #46

Left, Etsy keyword stats for the search “crochet pattern.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.

It’s got eRank’s gold badge for High Conversion. Meaning many shoppers who used this keyword in the past 30 days added to carts and purchased. The plural, #19 “crochet patterns,” has that same badge and also the one for trending in search this week.

Altogether, 18 searches with the word “crochet” made December’s Top 1000, up from 12 in November. Yet a year ago in December? There were just five, none of them in the Top 100. If you’re here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy, this is a niche to watch.

Roundup! Top keywords on Etsy now with 125%+ CTRs

Here’s your insider access to which of this month’s 250 top searches on Etsy show the most purchase intent. Note that a click-through rate of 100% indicates buyers are highly engaged, clicking multiple listings in search result pages. CTRs of 125% are exceptionally high.

For these Roundups, we base our calculations exclusively on our most recent full month of data. So, regardless of their 12-mo CTRs, lots of these products should be what’s selling best now. As for any Christmas-related searches, add them to a Keyword List. That way, you’ll be a step ahead on product research for next year’s holiday shoppers.

Ranked from #1-50

Anyone remember that November’s Top 250 yielded a bumper crop of high CTRs? Looks like December has more; could well be a record number. And they start right off at No. 1.

#1 “gift” – December CTR: 150%

Left, Etsy keyword stats for the search “gift.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.
Left, Etsy keyword stats for the search “gift.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.

On Etsy, “gift” has to also be the No. 1 broadest of all broad searches. No ordinary mortal will rank for “gift” on Etsy. Over 33 million listings use it. Still, it’s only four characters, so why not?

The rest of the 125%+ CTRs in the Top 20: personalized gift, christmas, last minute gifts, earrings. Skip one and there’s wall art, shirt, necklace, pokemon, stickers and jewelry. Skip one again for mug; skip two for tshirt; skip one more and there is rings.

Moving on to the rest of the Top 50, the next is #25 keychain. Then phone case, homedecor (one word), jeffrey epstein quarter zip, ornament and stocking stuffer. At #32 is gift for her, followed by crochet, womens clothing, stranger things and ring.

From #37 there’s a run of 140%+ CTRs. These are star wars, ita bag, keycaps, fallout, sweatshirt, bracelet, custom, cat, gifts for dad, wallet. The final three qualifiers in the Top 50 are furniture, hoodie and snoopy.

Ranking #51-100

At #53 is ornaments. Then, another run of highflyers: one piece, gift for couple, 3d printed, elden ring, smiling friends and vintage. “Vintage” has a perfect 150% CTR, as high as they go. So, let’s take a quick look.

#59 “vintage” – December CTR: 150%

Left, Etsy keyword stats for the search “vintage.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.

Nice! Of course, “vintage” is more category than a keyword you’d aim to rank for. But we’re happy to see it doing so well! Year on Year, “vintage” is up 64%. It’s also got both badges, for High Conversion and trending in search through the first week in January. Yay!

Resuming the Roundup, more highflyers! Gifts for her, harry potter, book, candles, cutting board, vtuber, fnaf, sticker, taylor swift. Then from #69-77: hoodies, poster, christmas shirt, dog, kitchenanddining (one word), candle, pins, minecraft and dragon.

At #79-80, there’s a pair: watch and socks. Skip one, then we have blanket, christmas sweater, jewelry box, homestuck, lighter. Qualifier hazbin hotel ranks #87, followed by gift for mom, dnd, valentine, tote bag, coffee. Winding up the Top 100: arc raiders, digital products, miffy, berserk. Skip one and the last three are grinch, witch and journal.

Next, ranked #101-150

And here we begin with three more that have 150% CTRs for December. These are #101-103 planner, locket, furry. We featured “locket” in November’s Roundup; it had 150% then, too. And in our annual trend report, we talked about “furry” and furry gear. For those of you wondering what to sell on Etsy, we see opportunity there.

At #105-107, we have another high-flying trio: ayn thor, hat, and art. Then qualifier #108 stocking stuffers, followed by t shirt, zelda, bracelets and spiderman. Skip one and we have #114 press on nails with 150%. We talked about that one too in the annual report; “press on nails” ranked 18th overall for the year! And selling like hotcakes.

Next up, two more with 150% CTRs: beanie and christmas card. “Beanie”? Huh; we didn’t recall seeing that one in recent Roundups. So it was off to Keyword Tool for us.

#115 “beanie” – December CTR: 150%

Left, Etsy keyword stats for the search “beanie.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. It has the gold badge indicating it’s continued to trend through the first week in January.
Left, Etsy keyword stats for the search “beanie.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. It has the gold badge indicating it’s continued to trend through the first week in January.

Well, how about that: turns out “beanie” made two Roundups back in late 2024. Then this past November, it had a perfect 150% CTR, but it ranked #294, so it missed the Roundup cutoff.

Searches continued climbing though, reaching an 18-mo high in December. Year on Year, “beanie” searches on Etsy are up 60%. And for the year, it ranks #398 overall. Google AI predicts beanies will continue to trend in 2026. Those of you looking for ideas of what to sell on Etsy, take note!

Meanwhile, let’s get back to the Roundup. The next qualifier is “gifts for book lovers” and then #118 gifts; like “gift,” it has 150%. And still more highflyers: #120 wicked, followed by homeware. The latter brought us up short: “homeware”?

#121 “homeware” – December CTR: 150%

Left, Etsy keyword stats for the search “homeware.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.
Left, Etsy keyword stats for the search “homeware.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.

No gold badges here. But as you can see, nor is it a search term Etsy shoppers used before August. Odd, right? Maybe Etsy began featuring “homeware” in homepage promos that month. And judging by the click-through rates, shoppers responded well!

Yet apparently, Competition hasn’t caught on, which gives you a chance to rank. So if you sell anything in the home furnishings line, add “homeware” to your SEO. (Not your listings that are already performing well, though; don’t change the SEO on those!)

Moving on, next are expedition 33, bag, scarf, magic the gathering, png. Skip two and at #129 is 3d print. Skip one for two more highflyers, coasters and plants. Again skip one and there’s dice. Skip another and there’s a pair with 150%: tarkov and tarot.

At #138 is qualifier digital planner. And then all the rest of the Top 150 are CTR highflyers! Starting with the quartet at #139-142: coaster, svg, lighting, and posters. Skip one for another quartet: pngtuber, frieren, music, lord of the rings, then at #150: charms.

Ranking from #151-200

First is #152 painting; skip one and it’s followed by 11 more highflyers. The first five are lamp, sweater, puzzle, chiikawa, crochet blanket pattern. The rest: kirby, stl, runescape, necklaces, vtuber model and christmas gifts.

Qualifiers christmas sweatshirt and christmas png break the spell. But then CTRs soar again for #167 anime and the trio at #170-172: hollow night, love and deepspace, umamusume. Skip one for three more: the pair at #174-175 pikmin and dnd dice, and #177 tarot cards.

Next is qualifier chess set, followed by two with 140%+: books and bookmark. Then qualifier #181 rug and a trio of highflyers: mom, stocking, and green. “Green” is another keyword we featured in our Annual report’s Roundup; it had a 149% CTR for the year!

The next five are also highflyers. At #186-188: ebook, riftbound, book embosser, then roblox and stray kids. At #193 is qualifier golf. And then another pair with 140%+ CTRs, #194-195 desk mat and carfax, followed by qualifier twitch overlay.

After that, it’s back to the stratosphere with #197 engagement gifts’ 150%, trailed by qualifier home decor. And the Top 200 closes on a high note with #199-200 heated rivalry and silksong. They both have 150% CTRs for the month.

Finally, ranked #201-250

Next, a sextet with 149%+! These are #201-206 nails, lego, labubu, housewarming gift, iphone 17 case, and funny shirt. Skip just one and there’s another: horse.

Like “homeware,” we couldn’t recall seeing “horse” before. So, being incorrigible data geeks, we had to investigate and holy cow!

#208 “horse” – December CTR: 150%

Left, Etsy keyword stats for the search “horse.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.

Currently at its 15-mo high, Year on Year, “horse” is up 187%! And it’s got both gold badges, too. What the heck? So for clues, next we checked its related searches in Keyword Tool and sorted by the Search Trend column. That shows us which keywords are trending highest most recently. About a dozen down, look what we found.

Sure enough, in Chinese astrology 2026 is the Year of the Horse. (Specifically, a rare Fire Horse year, with themes of bold action, creativity, and new opportunities. Sounds like a good year for Etsy sellers.) Anyone looking for what to sell on Etsy, three of these show promise. At least for 2026. No idea whether “stick horse” is popular due to its being a Horse year. But that’s the pick of the four.

Returning to the Roundup once more, two more top performers follow “horse:” minimalist and mugs. At #211 is qualifier anniversary gift. Then we return to the CTR stratosphere for wedding, balaclava, chainsaw man, and sword. “Sword” was another we featured in the Annual trend report; it had a 136% CTR for the year. It’s got 150% for the month.

The next eight in a row are also CTR highflyers. First off, a quintet: batman, rose, stained glass, tumbler and embroidery. Skip one and there’s #222 wedding dress. Skip one again and there’s a pair: mousepad and car accessories.

At #226 is qualifier mom gifts. Then highflyer shark, followed by qualifier grandma. Up again for disney, and back down for qualifier ugly christmas sweater. And then from #231-237, another run, all with 148%+: printable wall art, leather, key chain, groomsmen gifts, handbag, keycap, deltarune.

Skip four and we have our final streak of top flyers. These are sticker book, lightsaber, overwatch, katseye, stream overlay, calendar. And the last qualifier for this Roundup is #249 gifts for sister.

We hope some of these prove to be profitable leads for you! We’ll be back soon with what’s trending on Etsy UK, followed by the rest of our usual monthly trend reports. Then later in the month, we’ll also have our Etsy Quarterly Report on Q4. Those are always interesting because they cover Oct-Dec, Halloween through the holidays, Etsy’s top three months.
