Warning: Beware of trademarked terms. This report may contain keywords that are trademarked. USPTO Trademark Database. NOTE: In order to get you this report as soon as possible, search-volume figures in this report are based on eRank’s best early estimates. By mid-month, keyword search counts get confirmed; some ranks change a bit but not by much.
We’ve got typical turnover this month in Etsy’s Top 20, including a couple searches we’ve not seen before. (Which spells fun for us data geeks!) Altogether, July has nine climbers – Top 20 keywords that weren’t on the previous month’s Top 20 list. We like to start with these because they’re currently the hottest; they climbed highest the fastest.
Of these nine, two are what we fondly call “screamers.” These are searches that didn’t crack the Top 1000 just a month back. Now, here at eRank, we’re partial to screamers. Some can be fun, figuring out how in tarnation they screamed to the top, seemingly out of nowhere. With other screamers though, we’ve learned it’s just Etsy flinging spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks. Let’s go find out which we’ve got this month!
Top Etsy searches climbing highest fastest
Here are July’s climbers and screamers in order by current rank, their June rank (if any) listed last.
Ranked 1st: “gift,” up from #63
5th: “halloween,” up from #46
7th: “wedding gift,” up from #530
9th: “kpop demon hunters,” up from #222
11th: “gift for host,” screamer
14th: “vintage gift,” screamer
15th: “phone case,” up from #25
18th: “t shirt,” up from #29
20th: “crochet,” up from #35
We won’t discuss all these; we know you’re busy. And we need to leave time at the end for our Roundup of what’s selling best on Etsy now. (Including a quick tutorial on how to niche down keywords that have tons of Etsy competition.) So, let’s skip the Top 20 “frequent flyers:” phone case, t shirt, and crochet; none had far to climb. As opposed to our first climber – July’s No. 1 – which came as a surprise.
Ranked 1st: “gift,” up from #63
How could “gift” have dropped so low in rank on Etsy in June? “Gift” ranked #2 on Etsy’s US Annual Top 1000 last year. Gifts are nothing if not an Etsy mainstay. So it’s off to Keyword Tool we go!

Well, now! Looks like that giant Nov-Dec peak was what secured “gift” second place on 2024’s Annual Top Etsy searches. And it hit No. 1 in March this year, too. Of course, “gift” is as ridiculously broad a keyword as can be on Etsy. So let’s move on, shall we? Because this next climber may come as a surprise to some, and it’s more fun!
Ranked 5th: “halloween,” up from #46
Were any of you surprised to see “halloween” already ranking so high in July? Understandable, but we weren’t; Halloween really is the most popular holiday on Etsy US. It ranked 9th last July, up from #40, and that was actually down Year on Year, as we reported then.

“Halloween” has recovered nicely! Year on Year, it’s up 41%. And just like last year, we saw slews of related searches when we reviewed this July’s Monthly Trends keywords yesterday. Including some we spotted for “halloween gift.” That one does seem newer, right? So let’s sneak in a quick look at that one.

Note that this data includes near matches like “gift for halloween.” The two biggies though are “halloween gift” and “halloween gifts” plural. We’re not sure: have lots of people started exchanging gifts on Halloween? Or are these shoppers searching for Halloween-themed gifts to give to year-round Halloween enthusiasts?
Whatever the case, Year on Year, “halloween gift” is up 45,800%. Excellent Average CTR (click-through rate), too: 113%. Plenty of purchase intent!
Tip: top Etsy searches and purchase intent
Are any of you new to selling online? Here’s a useful tip.
On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of ‘purchase intent.’ These are people more likely searching with the intention to buy, as opposed to those just browsing.
It’s always good to keep up with the top keywords on Etsy now. But for insight into which of these trending products are selling best, look to their click-through rates. And that is why we’ve begun ending all our trend reports with a Monthly CTR Roundup. It’s a list of which of the top Etsy searches have had the highest CTRs most recently. But first, the rest of our short list of climbers.
Ranking 7th: “wedding gift,” up from #530
Whoa, another that’s unexpected!

We’d assumed “wedding gift” was popular year round, with an annual high ahead of June weddings. Could more people be getting married in the fall this year? Leading to lots more shoppers searching for gifts in July?
We ticked the box for including Near Matches; doing so added another 20,000+ searches to July’s haul. Still, its July spike was as striking as this one. And its Year on Year increase was even more dramatic. Which means something has driven this niche of products way, way up.
So, we asked Google. Its AI had this to say:
September and October are predicted to be the most popular months for weddings in 2025.
And Brides magazine agreed, citing late September 2025 in particular.
Late September is also shaping up to be a popular period for 2025 weddings.
– Cascella, Rachel, “The Most Popular Wedding Dates for 2025, According to Industry Experts”, Brides, published January 07, 2025.
Looks like that prediction is proving to be right! We’ll keep an eye on this one.
In 9th place: “kpop demon hunters,” up from #222
This is a movie that released on Netflix in late June. It also made Etsy Canada’s Top 20 this month, and in Etsy Australia, it’s their July No. 1 search! On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a score of 97%. All of which is to say: clearly, it’s popular.

But tempting as that 150% CTR is, resist! We’re data geeks, not attorneys, but this is bound to be protected intellectual property. Moving right along, then!
Ranked 11th: “gift for host;” screamer
Here’s the first of July’s two screamers. Both this and 14th-ranked “vintage gift” we suspect are Etsy’s doing. For one thing, both are screamers on the Top 20 lists in other Etsy countries this month.

And yep, to us, that single-month spike above right confirms it. If you’re on a small screen, “gift for host” got 70,870 searches in July. Zero searches last July, and all the rest of the months except September, when it got just 60.
Tl;dr: add it to a Keyword List if you like, but we doubt we’ll see this keyword trending again.
Ranked 14th: “vintage gift,” screamer
This one has better search history than “gift for host.”

“Vintage gift” got to 30th place this past March. And had about a thousand searches in December. That’s pretty much it though.
That said, the broad keyword “vintage” did rank 7th last month. Maybe Etsy is promoting “vintage gift” because Etsy’s all about gifts? And July is a month without a holiday specifically related to gift giving. The Fourth of July isn’t one – unless we count gifts for those hosting 4th of July parties? (Which could explain their promoting “gift for host,” haha.)
Get a load of that Etsy Competition stat, though. We do wonder sometimes at the number of Etsy shops using keywords with such a dearth of searches. Or did they all jump on this one when it spiked from nothing to 35,000+ searches in March? If so, good for them! Hope they’re selling like hotcakes.
And speaking of selling like hotcakes, let’s see what else is selling well on Etsy these days!
Roundup! Top keywords on Etsy now with 125%+ CTRs
These Roundups give you insider access to which of the top searches on Etsy have the highest CTRs now. Remember, high click-through rates are the best indicator of purchase intent. So, if you’re here looking for ideas of what to sell on Etsy, then this is for you!
Notably, of the top online marketplaces we cover, Etsy has the most keywords with high CTRs. That said, even on Etsy, CTRs this high are rare. Note too, we based these calculations exclusively on our most recent full month of data. Therefore, regardless of their 12-mo CTRs, of the 250 most-searched keywords on Etsy, these show the most purchase intent now.
Just a word of caution before we begin. Some of these shopper searches could cause an Etsy seller problems. Whether protected by intellectual property rights or possibly prohibited by Etsy, please look before you leap!
Ranked from #1-50
(Note: While all qualifiers will have at least 125%, for readability we’ll only shout out individual CTRs above 140%. Which is sky high, as you’ll see as we go along.)
Another good start for this month’s Roundup. Last month, there were five qualifiers in the Top 20; July also has five. And three of them are as high as CTRs go: 150%! In rank order: #4 stickers has a July CTR of 150%; #5 halloween is just short of 140%. As already mentioned, #9 kpop demon hunters is sky high; its July CTR is 150%. The next is qualifier #15 phone case, and then #18 t shirt is another high flyer with 150%.
Moving on to the rest of the Top 50, wow: next are four in a row, all with 150%! These are #22 halloween shirt; #24 deltarune; #26 pokemon and #33 cat. The next qualifier is #35 vtuber model, then we shoot right back up with #38 digital products. It has 148% for July.
Then comes #45 christmas. And for any of you wondering whether July’s too soon to list Christmas stuff, have a look.
#45 “christmas” – July CTR: 150%

For those reading along on a small screen, “christmas” garnered close to 33,000 searches in July. Its 12-mo CTR is 131%, and for July, it’s got a perfect 150%!
Ranking #51-100
Another perfect score, this one for #52 mug. And the next four are high flyers too: #54 decor has 141%, then the pair at #57-58 have 150%. These are candles and back to school shirt. The fourth is #60 keycaps with 144%.
The next qualifiers are #69 candle and #74 clothing, then another string of 150%ers! The first of these is #79 kpop.
#79 “kpop” – Monthly CTR: 150%
Is everyone here aware of the global phenom known as the Korean Wave? Also referred to as K-culture and Hallyu, K-pop is part of it. With well over 23,000 searches in July, “kpop” is at its 15-mo high now. And unlike our Top 20 climber “kpop demon hunters,” plenty of items in this niche are safe to sell!

So: are you here looking for what to sell on Etsy? And are you fond of cute stuff? Then check out K-pop and K-culture. Because “Korean Wave” is an apt name for this phenom. We data geeks here at eRank have been watching it rise since 2019; it’s world-wide now and truly, it is HUGE. Could well be bigger than former mega trends “mid century modern” and “minimalism” put together!
And now, back to our list. After “kpop,” there are four more in a row with 150% July CTRs! There’s the pair at #82-83 pins and dice. Then at #91 is spells. The last (and also the last qualifier in July’s Top 100) is invitations.
Ranking from #101-150
Straight out of the gate, at #100 we have a qualifier: mask. And then another remarkable run of eight 150%ers straight (making it look easy; it’s not!) First there’s #105 star wars; #107 quilt; #126 gold; and #134 hat. Then at #138-140, a trio: flower, undertale and alien stage; the eighth is singleton #145 love and deepspace. And the last qualifier here is #147 chain.
Skimpy pickings among this fifty! And over half are protected IP. But “flower” is fair game! So, let’s take a quick look. Because “flower” is definitely trending!
#138 “flower” – July CTR: 150%
In fact, Year on Year, “flower” is up 164% now.

Of course, “flower” is a broad term, and it’s got daunting competition. No worries, though; you just have to niche down.
Quick tutorial: How to use Keyword Tool to niche down
On flower’s page in Keyword Tool, we scrolled down to its Keyword Ideas table. There, for Keyword Match type, we chose “Broad” (circled here in yellow). This will show us all of Etsy’s US shopper searches with the word “flower.” Then, to see which are trending most recently, we sorted the data by the Search Trend column. Just click the header circled below in orange.

Ranked by current search volume, right after “flower” and “flowers” is “flower girl basket.” In July, it got over 5,000 searches. Yet fewer than 12,000 Etsy listings use the term.
And ranked fifth from the top is a rare find for the jewelry category: competition below 14,000! “Birth flower necklace” got over 3,500 searches in July and has an inviting Average CTR: 102%.
The whole birth flower trend hasn’t (yet) reached the stratospheric competition that birthstone jewelry has. Another positive: unlike birthstones, birth flower items aren’t limited to jewelry. Products could be anything with the birth flower, from pillow cases to stationery to mouse pads to clothing.
And again, let’s get back to our Roundup.
Next, ranked #151-200
Gracious, talk about a strong start: at #155-158, there’s a quartet, all with 150%! These are tarot, mtg, tenna, and knife. Then a couple of singleton qualifiers with less, #160 dnd dice and #164 phone charm. And then yet another 150%er: #169 backpack. At #173-174, we have a pair of qualifiers: sword and coasters, followed by #176 homestuck with 150%.
Also with 150% is #178 neon sign. It’s another Etsy trend we’ve been watching for years now, at least as far back as 2019. So for those of you wondering what to sell on Etsy, here’s a quick look at “neon sign.”
#178 “neon sign” – July CTR: 150%
“Neon sign” also has an excellent 12-mo CTR, too: 139%. (This is what’s fun about these Roundups. We get to talk about trends that don’t make the Top 20 but are well worth a shout-out.)

In the past 15 months, the lowest “neon sign” has dropped was actually last July. And it got 7,700+ searches that month. This July, it’s up 103%. Last year, it peaked in December. Might be worth looking into now so that you can ride that holiday high. Because according to reports, there’s no sign (ouch!) of this trend petering out.
As for the rest of July’s Top 200, there are just a few qualifiers left: #181 ateez (150%); #186 anklet. And at #197 we have mushroom; it too has 150% for July.
Finally, ranked #200-250
Another section starting off with a bang! Right at #201 is umamusume, a popular Japanese game, manga and anime series; it’s got 150%. From there, we have to jump down to #217 but it’s worth it: wedding planner also has 150%. Next is qualifier #222 chess set.
And then, four more with 150%: #224 y2k; the pair at #227-228 keyboard and flag; and #231 fnaf. The next qualifier is #232 coloring book, followed by still another high flyer with 150%: #234 helldivers.
And that’s the last of July’s Top 250. (Although we’re giving runner-up #255 leather a nod. It’s got 150% for July, which is remarkable. In the best of leather years, July is typically a low-search month in the US (temps are high). And then in August, even in years when leather isn’t trending, leather sales pick up for Back to School.
And while we’re on the subject of Back to School, how are sales this year? (For anyone new, July and August are big shopping months on Etsy due to Back to School purchases.) Here’s how that search looks so far.
#25 “back to school” – July CTR: 97%
Jeepers, Year on Year it’s WAY up!

And Etsy is ON it! Here’s the top of its homepage today, August 3.

Thanks, Etsy!
