So: is everybody ready?
These top Etsy searches climbed highest fastest
Here are August’s eight climbers” – the Top 20 keywords that didn’t make our last Top 20 list. We’ve put them in order by their current rank, followed by their previous rank. This way, you can see at a glance which are climbing highest fastest now.
Ranking 8th: “ring,” up from #51
9th: “rings,” up from #26
10th: “crochet pattern,” up from #22
11th: “home decor,” up from #101
15th: “christmas,” up from #29
17th: “mug,” up from #32
18th: “personalized gift,” up from #48
20th: “spiderman,” up from #68
As you can see, the only one that did any real climbing is “home decor.” Let’s have a look.
Ranked 11th: “home decor,” up from #101

Makes sense “home decor” searches are up. Between Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, more people will be sprucing up their home decor.
And that’s it for the Top 20’s most popular search terms that are hottest with Etsy’s US shoppers now. So next, let’s go see which of the month’s Top 200 searches are Etsy top sellers these days, shall we? But first, a quick explainer for those of you who are new sellers.
Click-through rates and purchase intent
If you’ve just started selling online, this will be a highly useful tip.
On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of ‘purchase intent.’ These are people more likely searching with the intention to buy, as opposed to those just browsing.
You’ll want to keep up with the top keywords on Etsy now, yes. But for insight into which are selling best, look to their click-through rates. It’s why we end all these trend reports with a Monthly CTR Roundup. You’ll find out which of the current Top 200 keywords have had the highest CTRs most recently.
Analyzing monthly CTRs is how we spot opportunities for you. The items we get most excited about are in the Top 200 and have:
- 125%+ CTRs for the current month
- 100%+ Average CTRs
- 5+ out of 15 months with 1,000+/mo searches
- Low competition (green in Keyword Tool)
We call these “unicorns” (because everyone on Etsy claims they don’t exist). And yet in every Roundup, we do seem to find a few. So, fingers crossed for this one!
Monthly CTR Roundup!
Here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy? Then this is for you! Your insider access to which of the 200 most-searched keywords on Etsy have 125%+ monthly CTRs. Keep in mind, these calculations are drawn exclusively from our most recent full month of data. Which means that whatever their 12-mo CTRs, most of these products are what’s selling best now. As for any that are Back to School-related, add them to a Keyword List for next summer.
For readability, we’ll only shout out a few individual CTRs that are sky high. Just keep in mind that our 125% threshold indicates truly exceptional purchase intent. So, any keywords here that interest you will be worth your while researching.
Ranking #1-50
There are 10 qualifiers in the Top 20, including several high flyers, two of them climbers: ring and christmas. Since we’ve already looked at “christmas,” let’s have a gander at “ring.”
#8 “ring” – August CTR: 150%

“Ring” and “rings” tend to take turns in the Top 20, although having both is not unprecedented. Usually though, that happens closer to big gift-giving months. Could shoppers really be getting this early a start on Christmas shopping? Whatever the case, “ring” singular has a hefty lead over “rings” in terms of current purchase intent. “Rings” has 120%: quite good! But not as stratospheric as 150%, which is as high as these go.
The rest of the Top 20 qualifiers: shirt, halloween, tshirt, digital products, earrings, jewelry, pokemon, and spiderman. Curiously, there isn’t another until #37 bracelet, followed by #40 painting; “painting” has 150%. The final three in the Top 50 are custom, sonic birthday invitation, and shirts.
Ranked from #51-100
Straight out of the gate here we have #51 blanket, then #58 stl, and #61 watches.
#61 “watches” – August CTR: 150%

And “watch” (which we’ll get to shortly) also has 150% for the month! These must be selling like hotcakes!
Next up on our Roundup, we have #65 palworld followed by a pair, #67-68 custom plush and carfax. “Custom plush” has a monthly CTR of 150%. Now, we featured “custom plushie” back in our April trend report‘s Roundup. That one had 150% too. If you’re here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy, check out “custom plushie.” Because unlike “custom plush” (which has too much competition), “custom plushie” is a unicorn. And so is this next one.
#75 “vtuber model” – August CTR: 140%

Vtuber-related searches are Etsy Roundup regulars – including the UK’s, Canada’s and Australia’s Roundups. And since there is no shipping involved with Vtuber gear, you could easily serve all four markets. As for the US, we doubt that Competition stat will stay green much longer. So if this niche is of interest, the sooner you get to it the better.
Meanwhile, back on the Roundup, at #77-78 are watch and ebook, then #90-91 art print and jewelry box. All four have sky-high monthly CTRs. And just four more in the Top 100: #93 spiderman mask, plus trio halloween png, ayn thor, and beads.
Next, from #101-150
Here we open with a quartet of qualifiers! Ranking #103-107 are decor, dog, wallet, minimalist, and journal. Skip just one and there’s lighting and then a trio, all high flyers: tumbler, twitch overlay, candle. Then skip ahead three for #117 silver; skip three again and there’s blue. As usual, “blue” has 150% for the month, as does this next one.
#126 “one silly goose birthday invitation” – August CTR: 150%

Anyone happen to remember how irked we were last month by all those trademarked birthday invitations? Four made the Roundup, two of them in Top 20. Well, finally here is one you can use! At least, as far as we can see. But since we’re data geeks not intellectual property attorneys, please do your due diligence.
Because what is even more wonderful about this one is that it is a brand-new unicorn! Of the past 15 months, this is its sixth with 1,000+ searches. And speaking of August, its searches are up Year on Year by 115,800%! And just feast your eyes on its average CTR: 134% is way above average: yay!
Resuming our Roundup, at #130 is CTR high flyer alpine baby blanket crochet pattern. Then from #142, there’s a quartet: coffee, tarot deck, suncatcher, tote bag. All four have 144%+ CTRs for the month. And two more here: #148 embroidery designs and #150 perfume. “Perfume” has a perfect 150%.
Finally, ranked #151-200
And so does #151 handmade! (We love to see it!)
Of course, its Competition stat is over half a million listings, but so what: “handmade” is more category than keyword. We’re just glad to see shoppers are flocking to buy handmade. You all know how to niche down, right? And by the way, have you noticed Keyword Tool’s latest upgrade?

Cool, right? These suggestions are drawn from recent shopper activity on Etsy. So, to niche down further, you can just click any there to see data for that keyword. For now, this dropdown only appears for Etsy US keywords. However, eRank developers assure us there can be “endless future iterations” of this latest Keyword Tool feature. But only if they see you guys are using it, so if you do, let them know. Just hit that “Feedback” button with the big “E” in the lower right corner of the tool’s page.
In the meantime, back on the Roundup we have a quintet of qualifiers, every one a high flyer! From #151-157, these are butterfly, men, twitch emotes, black, and back to school png. Skip one and there’s a pair: playmat and mask; both have 150%! Then skip five for a trio: pokmon [sic] birthday invitation (down from #18 last month), limbus company, and keycap.
#168 “keycap” – August CTR: 150%

Unicorn alert! Did you spot it? Plenty of months with 1,000 searches. In fact, it’s barely dropped below 3,000/mo. Competition still deep green, and its 12-mo CTR is a remarkable 133%.
Of course, that competition stat is low for good reason. Keycaps take more skill to make than, say, keychains. So they have what’s called a “higher barrier of entry.” But only compared with keychains! The materials and equipment to get started making keycaps are under $200.
And in case you’re wondering whether stats for “keycaps” plural are another story, well yes, they are. They’re actually better on all counts! Have a look.

We’ve talked about this niche in past Roundups, in all four countries we report on here. Here looking for ideas of what to sell on Etsy? Get in on these while the going is still good!
Resuming our Roundup once more, we have two more with sky-high CTRs: #171 christmas ornaments and #176 bookmark. Then there’s bts shirt and a pair, #183-184 crochet patterns and coloring pages. At #186 is svg; it has 150% for the month.
Winding up, we have an octet! From #191-198, these are witchcraft, tarot cards, dragon, flower, dice, horse, pink, and red. Then skip just one and we end on a high note: #200 cardigan has a perfect 150%. And that’s a wrap for this month, friends. We hope some of these prove to be profitable leads for you!
