The biggest surprise here is how little turnover there is compared with 2024’s Top 20. That one had nine climbers; 2025 has just five! For Etsy especially, that is remarkable. (These post-pandemic years on Etsy have been a wild ride, haven’t they?)
These top Etsy keywords climbed highest fastest
Ranked 4th: “personalized gift,” up from #21 in 2024
11th: “gift for him,” up from #80 (but the plural ranked #44)
15th: “gift for her,” up from #43
17th: “crochet,” up from #36
18th: “press on nails,” up from #77
The first of these, “personalized gift,” barely qualifies as a climber. It only missed 2024’s Top 20 by one spot. And “gifts for him” plural ranked #44. About the same annual climb as “gift for her” had, so let’s look at the latter.
Ranked 15th: “gift for her,” up from #43

And how about that: “gift for her” has both gold badges. “High Conversion!” means many shoppers who used this keyword in the past 30 days added to cart and purchased. And “Trending in Search!” tells us it’s continuing to trend this week, the first week in January 2026. Might be Valentine searches?
Another of these top Etsy keywords that didn’t have far to climb is “crochet.”
Ranked 17th: “crochet,” up from #36

Like “gift for her,” it’s another sporting both gold badges. Here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy? Well, no mortal seller is going to rank for “gift for her.” Conversely, crochet’s related searches might be worth researching. And demand has been less erratic; “gift for her” dropped below 10,000/mo three of the past 15 months. “Crochet” searches have stayed above 20,000/mo.
Even more impressive is the Avg. CTR (click-through rate) for “crochet:” 130%. On Etsy, a 100% click-through rate indicates buyers are highly engaged, often clicking multiple listings in search result pages. So, a 12-mo average of 130% signifies stellar purchase intent.
Tip! Top Etsy searches and purchase intent
Anyone new to selling online? Here’s a useful tip.
On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of ‘purchase intent.’ These are people more likely searching with the intention to buy, as opposed to those just browsing.
You’ll want to keep up with the top Etsy searches. But for insight into which are the top-selling items on Etsy, look to their click-through rates. It’s why we end all our trend reports with a CTR Roundup. You’ll see which of the 250 top Etsy keywords have the highest CTRs. First though, we’ve got one more promising climber. And then a word about 2025’s sliders.
Ranked 18th: “press on nails,” up from #77

Of 2025’s climbers, “press on nails” is the one that covered the most ground this past year. We’ve taken a closer look at this product more than once in our monthly Etsy trend reports. It’s got a lot to love! Those gold badges, of course, and the highest CTR of our climbers.
“Press on nails” also boasts exceptionally stable demand. In 15 months, search volume only dropped below 20,000/mo once (and not by much). It also had an impressive spike in September that took it above 170,000. Here looking for ideas of what to sell on Etsy? This niche is worth exploring.
Now, about those sliders…
Five climbers means that five of 2024’s top Etsy searches dropped out of this year’s Top 20. Here they are, in order by their former rank.
Ranked 9th in 2024, “bracelet” slid to #27
12th: “womens clothing” fell to #22
13th: “personalized gifts” is #97 (but the singular ranks 4th)
14th: “mugs” is #73; singular is #37
19th: “wall decor” is #40
Huh. Two of these, we’d already had our eye on for months: “mugs” and “wall decor.”
Ranked 14th in 2024: “mugs,” now #73

Yes, “mug” singular ranks #37. But even when combined with “mugs,” search volume doesn’t come close to recent years. And it’s not just the US either; we’ve noticed mug/s slipping in other top Etsy countries too.
To be clear, we aren’t seeing anything close to catastrophic here. And “mugs” has both gold badges as we speak. But 2025’s downturn is undeniable. To those of you looking for what to sell on Etsy, we’d suggest steering clear for the time being. Add “mug” and “mugs” to a Keyword List first; let that tool track them a while.
Ranked 19th in 2024: “wall decor,” now #40

Given that “wall art” ranks No. 3 overall for 2025, why worry, right? Well, here’s “wall art.”

For years now, “wall art” has frequently topped monthly Etsy Top 20s. Indeed, it ranked No. 1 overall for 2024. Yet look at both of these 15-mo line charts. They show a detectible downward trend. And given those Competition figures, we see no reason to enter this niche. With or without AI. And despite those gold badges.
Now let’s go see what looks more promising!
Roundup! 2025’s top Etsy searches with 125%+ CTRs
Of the ecommerce sites we cover, Etsy has the most keywords with high CTRs. That said, even on Etsy, CTRs above 125% are rare, especially on our annual lists. We hope some of these prove to be profitable leads for you!
Ranking from #1-50
Note: to keep this as readable as possible, we’ll only shout out CTRs that are 145%+: sky high!
2024’s Top 20 had just two qualifiers. For 2025, we have triple that! First there’s #7 shirt, then pokemon, halloween, crochet, press on nails, and christmas; Christmas has 145%.
Moving on to the rest of the year’s Top 50, at #21 is phone case. Skip one and there’s a pair: poster and ring. Then at #26-29, a quartet: keycaps, bracelet, labubu, and t shirt. The rest are singletons: #33 cat, #37 mug, #41 custom, #45 digital products, and #48 fursuit. Our pick of these Top 50 qualifiers?
#48 “fursuit” – annual CTR: 126%

We’ve been watching furry gear climb our charts for five+ years now. Two takeaways from these two charts. The 15-mo line chart shows that search volume hasn’t dropped below 18,000/mo. And yet, the stats bar chart shows Competition from your fellow US sellers is still relatively modest.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: we see opportunity in this niche. Every year, furry gear searches have climbed. This is the first time it’s made an Annual Top 50. “Fursuit” ranks higher than “gifts for him!” And now back to our Roundup.
Ranked #51-100
Off to a fine start here with a trio of qualifiers, #51-53 hoodie, dice, ita bag. Then we jump ahead to #57 for vtuber model, and again to #62 for bookmark. Skip just one and there’s candle; skip one again for labubu clothes. At #69 is png, then pins, and at #75 there’s bag with an annual CTR of 145%.
Next are #80 mask and #83 deltarune. Then at #87-88 there’s a pair, anime and dog, followed by #90 clothing. The final qualifier in 2025’s Top 100 is #99 halloween shirt. Wondering how a seasonal item like “halloween shirt” could make an Annual Top 100? Here’s how.
#99 “halloween shirt” – annual CTR: 144%

What’s really wild is when its peak search volume occurred: August!
From #101-150
The first qualifier here is #103 journal; skip two and there’s a pair: badge reel and charms. At #111 is plants, then at #116-115 another pair, tarot and one piece. Skip two for yet another pair, #120-121 phone charm and taylor swift. Then at #123 we have hoodies, followed by book and dragon.
At #134-135 are jewelry box and bookmarks, then #141 tarot reading, and #146 sword. Sword is well up; it ranked #278 for 2024! Let’s take a look.
#146 “sword” – annual CTR: 136%

Are any of you unaware of how huge cosplay is on Etsy? “Cosplay” (costume + play) is the practice of dressing up as a character from a book/anime, film or video game. And cosplay is what we data geeks refer to as a “roomy” category. One that offers plenty of room to find a niche you can make your own.
Next, ranked from #151-200
Here we start with a pair, #152-153 watch and sweater. Skip two and there’s elden ring (more cosplay). At #162 is forsaken, followed by hat, charlie kirk and shoes.
There’s a pair at #172-173: ornament (with an annual CTR of 147%!) and lord of the rings. Skip just one and there’s another highflyer: #175 pink has 146%. Next up, at #183-184 are locket and desk mat. Skip one and we have flower with 145%.
The last two for this group are #194 christmas shirt and #199 homestuck. “Christmas shirt” has an annual CTR of 149%! That’s the highest CTR so far.
#194 “christmas shirt” – annual CTR: 149%

Overall, looks like you’re better off with “halloween shirt.” But no reason you’d need to choose between them; you could do both. Just note that Competition is twice as high for “christmas shirt.”
Finally, ranking #201-250
Wow, a quintet of qualifiers: #202-206 y2k, blue, fnaf, lighter, and green. Two of these have notably high annual CTRs: “blue” has 147%; “green” has 149%.
Every Etsy Roundup includes several single-word color searches. For this one, we’ve already seen #175 pink with its 146% CTR. Let’s take a closer look at “green.”
#206 “green” – annual CTR: 149%

“Green” makes every Roundup, always with stratospheric purchase intent. Early on, we wondered whether its popularity might be due to searches for green in the ecological sense. It does not appear to be. For instance, other than green day, green yuri, and green goblin, all the top related searches are for the color. In order by Average Search count, after “green,” the highest-ranked are green rug, green earrings and green curtains. And all three have well above-average CTRs.
Back on our 2025 Roundup, next are #208 beads, #215 leather, then #217-218 wicked and gold. Skip three and there’s cyberpunk, followed by #229 fall.
Interesting! Of the four seasons, neither “winter” nor “spring” make the year’s Top 1000. And “summer” ranks down at #793. “Fall” not only rules by virtue of search volume and CTR. It is also the only season with more than one entry in the Annual Top 1000. It has seven! In rank order: fall decor, fall, fall gift, fall style gift, fall wreath, fall host gift, and fall style. So here’s a quick look at “fall.”
#229 “fall” – annual CTR: 126%

“Fall” is even trending in search now! That’s unexpected.
Winding up our Roundup, there’s a pair of qualifiers at #232-233: psychic reading and kpop. Then just three more: #241 perfume, #246 runescape (with 145%), and at #250, custom plush.
That’s a wrap for 2025. We’ll be back in a few days with the first of our usual monthly trend reports, then Q4’s. Meanwhile, we hope you’re getting some rest before it’s back in the saddle for Valentine’s Day!
