NOTE: In order to get you this report as soon as possible, search-volume figures in this report are based on eRank’s best early estimates. Later in the month, keyword search counts get confirmed and some ranks change but usually not a lot.
So interesting! Last month, we expressed how disappointed we were by July’s Top 20. We thought the four-day Prime Day sales event would really switch it up. But quite the contrary. There was only one Top 20 shopper search that hadn’t made June’s Top 20. That just might be the lowest turnover we’ve ever seen on Amazon.
July’s sole climber was 12th-ranked “youtube.” Let’s see how it’s doing now.

Oops, “youtube” has slid down to #268. Now, as you can see, that’s still far above where it was before July. Its former high had been just over 60,000 searches back in February. For August, it has nearly 191,000.
We are eager to see where it goes from here. Several of us here at eRank have our own YouTube channels. More and more artisans are using it to promote their work. Have you explored that option? The more that social media platforms become “pay to play,” the better YouTube looks.
Top 20 sliders in August
Nearly as unusual as July’s low turnover was, so is a Month-on-Month turnover of seven for Amazon. Here then, in order by their rank back in July, we present The Seven Sliders of August.
Formerly ranked 6th: “lego,” now #21
8th: “tv,” now #22
12th: “youtube,” now #268
13th: “nintendo switch 2,” now #45
15th: “switch 2,” now #64
19th: “iphone,” now #25
20th: “gaming laptop,” now #26
The majority of these (lego, tv, iphone, gaming laptop) are frequent flyers on Amazon’s monthly Top 20 lists. As you can see, none of the four fell far.
The decline in August of the two searches for Nintendo’s Switch 2 was expected. Before Switch 2’s official launch on June 5, Nintendo pulled its products from Amazon (drama!). The reason cited: before launch, some rogue Amazon third-party (3P) sellers sold unauthorized, bulk-imported consoles at undercut prices.
Switch 2 is back on Amazon, but sold exclusively by Amazon (i.e., no 3P sellers). And customers can’t just put one in their cart and check out either. They must first request an invite on the product page to receive an email with a link to purchase. Ouch: that extra hurdle has to be hurting sales.

Yep, that 44% Average CTR is not looking good. But now, on to the seven climbers of August.
Top 20 climbers in August
“Climbers” is our term for Top 20 keywords that didn’t make the previous month’s list. These are the shopper searches that have climbed highest the fastest most recently.
Ranking 3rd: “the summer i turned pretty,” up from #34
8th: “backpack,” up from #21
10th: “office chair,” up from #31
11th: “amazon gift card,” up from #25
12th: “mouse pad,” up from #30
18th: “creatine,” up from #23
19th: “toilet paper,” up from #28
Too many to discuss each one; we need to save lots of time for this month’s Roundup. See what all 500 of Amazon’s top keywords tell us about what’s selling best on Amazon now.
Two of these, none of us can sell. “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is a hugely popular Amazon Prime Video property. Nor can 3P merchants sell Amazon gift cards. And we doubt many of you are selling creatine or TP, either.
So, that leaves us with three climbers. We’ll be quick. Because the actionable insights for Handmakers, Amazon Custom sellers and small businesses will be in the Roundup.
Ranking 8th: “backpack,” up from #21
Just a note about these screenshots. Due to Prime Day, search volumes for Amazon’s most popular products soar in July. “Backpack” couldn’t quite crack July’s Top 20, yet it had nearly as many searches as it does for August.

And both July and August are well up Year on Year. As we noted last month, tons of Back to School / Off to College buying on Amazon this year. Oh, and speaking of buying, a note about this stat for Average CTR (click through rate). If you’re new to Amazon, 67% might seem awfully low. Especially if you only sell on Etsy and are used to Etsy CTRs.
What we’ve discovered is that of the top marketplaces, Etsy has the most high CTRs. And eBay’s are (by far) the lowest, right across the board. Amazon’s range is between the two. For instance, of its August Top 20 keywords, the average CTR works out to be 72%. Which means purchase intent for “backpack” is about average.
Tip! Amazon’s top searches and purchase intent
For those of you new to selling online, this will be a useful tip.
On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of ‘purchase intent.’ These are people more likely searching with the intention to buy, as opposed to those just browsing.
So yes, it’s always good to keep up with Amazon’s top keywords. But for insight into what’s selling best on Amazon now, look to their click-through rates. It’s why we end our trend reports with a Monthly CTR Roundup. You’ll see which Amazon trending products have had the highest CTRs most recently.
First though, let’s finish our short list of August climbers.
Ranked 10th: “office chair,” up from #31
We can’t imagine many of you are selling these on Amazon either, but just in case, here it is.

See what we mean about the overall surge of searches during July / Prime Day? “Office chair” didn’t make July’s Top 20 – yet it had more searches then than it does now, ranked 10th.
As you can see, “desk chair” is among Amazon’s most popular products. Over the past 15 months, it hasn’t once dropped below 400,000 searches/mo. It’s also got a solid 78% 12-mo CTR. And that climbed in July; calculated for the month, it rose to 81%. Makes sense; more shoppers were taking advantage of Prime Day discounts to buy.
Ranking 12th: “mouse pad,” up from #30
This is the only Top 20 product we could imagine any of us selling on Amazon. You can sell these in Amazon Custom.

“Mouse pad” got well over 780,000 searches in July and nevertheless only ranked 30th. (As mentioned, Prime Day lifts all ships.) Its monthly CTR for July was decent: 85%; it’s 84% now. Even its Average CTR is well above average for Amazon.
These clearly sell well. But to see what’s selling best on Amazon now, we need the Roundup. Let’s see what all 500 of Amazon’s top keywords tell us about what else is selling best now. Anyone here for ideas of what to sell on Amazon, this is for you!
Roundup! Amazon’s top searches with 100%+ CTRs now
Here’s your insider access to which of Amazon’s most popular products have the highest CTRs now. Remember, high click-through rates are the best indicator of purchase intent. Now, for Amazon’s Roundups, we use a monthly CTR threshold minimum of 100%. (On Amazon, CTRs even that high are exceptional.) Note too, these calculations are based exclusively on our most recent full month of data. Therefore, regardless of their 12-mo Average CTRs, these are the products Amazon shoppers are most interested in buying now.
Some of us here at eRank sell on Amazon. We know how hard it can be for small sellers to identify items you can do well with. That’s why we root through twice as many of Amazon’s top keywords as we do for Etsy. Every month, we hope we’ll find something that even Handmade sellers can get in on.
[Spoiler! We did again this month!]
Before we begin, our usual word to the wise. A good number of these are either trademarked, prohibited by Amazon, or otherwise tricky to sell there. Please look before you leap!
Ranking #1-100
For readability, we’ll only shout out individual CTRs of 125% and up. (Wildly high for Amazon!) But all qualifiers will have at least 100% for August.
Same as last month, the Top 20 has two qualifiers. They are #3 the summer i turned pretty with 128% and #5 desk. Moving on, at #24 is this month’s first perfect 150% CTR (they get no higher): it’s protein powder. Then we have to leapfrog a bunch for the next qualifiers, #40 owala and #43 shower curtain. Since shower curtains could be handmade and people also sell them in Amazon Custom, let’s have a look.
#43: “shower curtain;” August CTR 112%
Seems like “shower curtain” always makes these Amazon Roundups.

Wow, in 15 months, searches haven’t dropped below a quarter million! And that 100% Average CTR is compelling. If you’re looking for what to sell on Amazon, this product is worth researching.
Meanwhile, back to the Roundup. The next two qualifiers are also products a Handmade artisan could offer, #55 shoe rack and #72 standing desk. We took a closer look at “standing desk” in last month’s Roundup; here’s that report. So this month, let’s take a minute for “shoe rack.”
#55: “shoe rack;” August CTR 122%
Like “shower curtain,” this product has been a regular on Amazon Roundups. Not last month though; at 99.54, its July CTR was just short of our threshold.

On the other hand, “shoe rack” did get 467,000+ searches in July, a 15-mo high. And its monthly CTR has recovered nicely. Coupled with that commendable 109% Average CTR, we see opportunity here.
And now back to the Roundup for the last qualifier in the Top 100: it’s #98 couch.
From #101 through #200
The next are #113 tv stand and #116 desk lamp – both products we could see artisans making. Same goes for three of the four in the quartet at #139-142: bookshelf, usb hub, wallet and rug. Let’s check out “wallet” next; it’s got an impressive current CTR.
#141: “wallet;” August CTR 138%
Year on Year, “wallet” searches are up 78%. And every year they really zoom up in November for Christmas gifts, then again ahead of Father’s Day.

Be sure to check out wallet’s Keyword Ideas table; “slim wallet” has an Average CTR of 133%.
Next, the Roundup goes quiet until #179 sofa, followed by high flyer #181 queen bed frame. That has a 134% CTR for August, and it’s another regular on Amazon Roundups. But we can’t imagine many of you are selling them. Same goes for qualifiers #188 trash bags; #190 monitor arm (maybe 3D printed?); or #194 bidet. How about qualifiers #195 floor lamp or #198 coffee table?
Next, ranked #201-300
The first here is #214 protein bars; we doubt many of you are selling those either. But the pair at #221-222, possibly: blanket and computer desk, the latter with a perfect 150% CTR for August. Here’s “blanket.”
#221: “blanket;” August CTR 111%
This one’s also well up Year on Year, just as we’re heading into the season blankets sell best.

Given how high searches are already, the 2025 blanket season looks bright.
Next up is #231 night stand; it has an August CTR of 125%. And while artisans and custom sellers could be offering those, this next one we know does well on Handmade. We mention it every month because it seems to make every Amazon Roundup. It’s #252 cutting board.
(By the way, “pumpkin cutting board” got 5,500 searches in August and has a monthly CTR of 150%! So far though, it’s just a single-month spike. Best practice would be to add it to a Keyword List before acting on it.)
Next, there’s a pair at #259-260: superman and sunglasses, followed by another: #276-277 south park and invincible. The latter has 134%. Then we skip ahead to the trio at #285-287 tissues, gum, and tweezers. Skip just two and there’s #290 mop.
Ranked from #301-400
We know lots of our members sell planners on Etsy. How about Amazon?
#311: “planner;” August CTR 110%
“Planner” is at a 15-mo high now.

The next Roundup qualifiers are #315 surge protector power strip and #328 label maker (it’s got 132%). Then two health supplements, #330 omega 3 and #333 fish oil; “fish oil” has 148%. Then at #341, dexter’s CTR is even higher: 150%.
We typed “dexter” into Amazon search, expecting to see that Prime Video is streaming the TV show. It may be but the top two search auto suggestions were “dexter book” and “dexter knife.” We checked: Keyword Tool stats for “dexter knife” are underwhelming. And “dexter resurrection” currently ranks #414 in Amazon’s Top 1000 with an August CTR of 150%. So #341 “dexter” is probably that Dexter.
But #342 book shelf is clearly something in the Handmade-Custom-small seller realm. So is #344 iphone 16 case, but if you’re looking for what to sell on Amazon, beware! So many new Amazon sellers lose their shirts trying (failing) to sell phone cases. Before you jump, do a thorough search of the main Amazon seller forum first.
Next up is #346 shower shoes with 124.54% for August; just under threshold. We’ll let it through, though. “Shower shoes” ranked lower last month (#470), but it had a 150% CTR. And Year on Year, searches are currently up 88%.
Thereafter, there’s a lull until the pair at #363-364 drone (with 125%) and garlic. Skip ahead to #376-377 for another pair, desk mat and robux. “Desk mat” is another lead for you artists and Custom sellers. We noticed that Amazon shoppers are searching for desk mats that don’t use AI art. That could be a niche to explore.
Finally, ranked #401-500
The first qualifier here is a product we know some of you sell on Etsy.
#410: “journal;” August CTR 124%
On Amazon, searches are up 102% Year on Year.

And beginning in March, searches have stayed above 150,000/mo every month. Those of you looking for what to sell on Amazon, add this to your list! We noticed lots of promising niches to research in its Keyword Ideas table.
Next up, one we’ve already mentioned: #414 dexter resurrection and its 150% for August. Then there’s #419 massage gun; #427 blue light glasses; and #433 water flosser. The latter has 129%. And then at #453-454 there’s a pair, #453 l shaped desk with 125%, and curtain rods; those are both popular products for customizing.
Up next is #469 cologne. We know there are tiny niche perfumers selling on Amazon. It’s well worth researching; wearing fragrance is popular again, especially with Gen Z! Year on Year, “cologne” searches are up 87% on Amazon. And the final five for this month’s Roundup: #473 baby wipes; #479 folder; #483 dog food; #486 steamer.
Hope some of these prove to be profitable leads for you!
