See what Amazon’s most popular products were yesterday, as well as what’s hot on dozens of other marketplaces like EtsyeBay, and Google Shopping.

Typical turnover for Amazon’s Top 20 list is five or six “climbers” – keywords not on the previous month’s Top 20. But as we reported here last month, back in March Amazon had only two climbers. That was a first!

The list is back to normal this month. Even on the high side: seven climbers, two of which are “screamers.” (As we fondly call current Top 20 searches that hadn’t managed to crack the previous month’s Top 1000.) Which means that of this month’s Top 20 Amazon searches, these seven are the hottest.

So first, we’ll look at each of them. Then at the end, we’ll analyze the Top 500 of Amazon’s most popular products this past month. See what these trending shopper searches tell us about what’s selling best on Amazon now.

Amazon’s top searches climbing highest fastest

These seven are Amazon’s most popular products with its shoppers. We’ve listed them in current rank order, their former rank (if any) last.

In 1st place: “nintendo switch 2” (screamer; didn’t make the March Top 1000)

8th: “switch 2” (screamer)

10th: “electronics,” up from #128 in March

17th: “iphone,” up from #21

18th: “ps5,” up from #24

19th: “creatine,” up from #32

20th: “gaming laptop,” up from #26

The first two will come as no surprise to anyone familiar with Amazon trends. The very latest and hottest electronics are always screamers on Amazon when they first appear. And you don’t even need to be into video gaming to know this. Any screamer that makes the Top 20 Amazon searches list is the latest “game changer.”

Most recent was March’s 14th-ranked screamer “9070xt.” Short for “AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT,” it’s a mid-range graphics card for high-performance gaming. It launched in March.

The one before that was “9800x3d” (AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D), heralded as the world’s fastest gaming processor. It ranked 17th in November’s Top 20, having launched Nov. 7. And just like this month’s No. 1, minutes after it became available for pre-order, it sold out.

However, if we’re comparing like-to-like? The most recent game console releases (Sony’s PS5 and Microsoft’s Xbox S/X) were back in Nov. 2020. And the one before was the March 2017 launch of the Nintendo Switch.

Ranked 1st: “nintendo switch 2”

Retail pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 began on April 24, 2025. Here’s how that looks in Amazon’s data.

Those pre-orders quickly sold out. And it’s projected that on launch day, June 5th, even major retailers like Amazon will have limited stock. Therefore, eager fans will find getting their hands on one challenging. All of which is normal and expected for the very latest and hottest tech, which in turn means this. The month they launch (or become available to pre-order), they always scream into the Top 20 Amazon trends list.

What does surprise us? The 1,510 shopper searches that “nintendo switch 2” got a year ago in April 2024. Jeepers, it wasn’t even revealed until mid-January of 2025! And promptly (as indicated by that little bump we circled in orange in the chart above) shot to 113,720. And then got 12 times as many as that this April: 1,405,010 searches. How can it not go absolutely galactic from here, right?

And that’s without counting the search volume its nickname “switch 2” is getting: 787,390 for April. Let’s look at that next.

Ranked 8th: “switch 2”

This one too had over a thousand searches a year ago in April, nine months before its initial reveal.

Seeing two April 2025 screamers – for the same product! – charting that far back is wild! Anyone else seeing this product being bigger than any other electronics-related launch this decade? Even bigger than any of the past five iPhone releases? For our post-launch June report, we’ll have to compare numbers.

Ranked 10th: “electronics,” up from #128

We were pretty sure we’d never seen this climber make a Top 20 Amazon searches list before.

On the left, a bar chart depicting US keyword stats for the search term “electronics” on Amazon. The line chart shows its trend performance with shoppers on Amazon over the past 15 months.

Looks like we were right. And compared with April 2024, “electronics” is up 928%. Just Month on Month, it’s up 170%.

Still, we rank this keyword a meh. We already know electronic products are perennially among Amazon’s top keywords. So what if more Amazon customers are using this absurdly-broad broad search? It’s unhelpful – for us sellers and for customers.

Here’s further proof. For April, its 15-mo apex, “electronics” has a disappointing CTR: just 37%. Even for Amazon, that indicates pretty dismal shopper engagement – which does make sense! Yes, vast numbers of buyers do come to Amazon to purchase electronics… but! The listings they click derive from searches that were more specific.

And it’s not just electronics. The same goes for Mother’s Day searches on Amazon. Now over on Etsy, three+ versions of “gift for mom” and “mothers day” make their April Top 20 lists. Whereas Amazon? The first mom-related keyword on Amazon this April, “mothers day gifts,” ranked 71st. The only other, “mothers day gifts for mom,” was all the way down in 926th place.

Does this mean no one shops for Mom on Amazon? Of course not; buyers just begin with a less broad search. Same as when they shop for electronics.

In fact, three of the four remaining climbers are electronics. And the first two have double the April CTR – current purchase intent – that “electronics” has. But first, while we’re on the subject of purchase intent, here’s a quick explainer.

Amazon’s top searches and purchase intent

Are any of you new to selling online? Here’s a super useful tip.

On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of “purchase intent.” That is, customers more likely to buy as opposed to people just browsing.

So yes, knowing what Amazon’s most popular products are now is necessary. But for insight into which show signs of selling best, look to their click-through rates.

Ranked 17th: “iphone,” up from #21

This one is far from a niche search, lol. But compared to “electronics,” it is. And popular: in 15 months, “iphone” has made the list of Top 20 Amazon searches six times. (Which isn’t easy: on Amazon, just to rank 20th takes over half a million searches; some months, way more.)

On the left, a bar chart depicting US keyword stats for the search term “iphone” on Amazon. The line chart shows its trend performance with shoppers on Amazon over the past 15 months.
On the left, a bar chart depicting US keyword stats for the search term “iphone” on Amazon. The line chart shows its trend performance with shoppers on Amazon over the past 15 months.

Both the 12-mo CTR and April’s monthly CTR for “iphone” are 70%. Now, to those of you used to Etsy’s click-through rates, 70% may seem underwhelming. But of all the top ecommerce sites, Etsy has the most high CTRs. Compared with Etsy, Amazon’s are consistently fewer and lower. And eBay’s are even lower.

We data geeks here at eRank love to theorize why. But suffice to say, a 70% CTR on Amazon is above average. And “iphone” searches are up Year on Year by 79% now. Overall, it had a very good year last year; “iphone” ranked 19th in Amazon’s annual 2024 Top 20.

Ranked 18th: “ps5,” up from #24

But “ps5” had an even better year last year than “iphone” did. With 1.2 million more searches than “iphone” got, “ps5” ranked 11th in Amazon’s Annual Top 20.

On the left, a bar chart depicting US keyword stats for the search term “ps5” on Amazon. The line chart shows its trend performance with shoppers on Amazon over the past 15 months.
On the left, a bar chart depicting US keyword stats for the search term “ps5” on Amazon. The line chart shows its trend performance with shoppers on Amazon over the past 15 months.

And “ps5” also has a better Average CTR than “iphone:” 78%. Of course, that could be due to “ps5” having fewer versions (five) than “iphone” (too many to count). And consider this too: four “ps5”-related searches made April’s Top 1000: ps5; ps5 controller; ps5 pro; ps5 games. By contrast, there were 27 related searches for “iphone:” way too many to list here.

Ranked 19th: “creatine,” up from #32

And now for something completely different, here is “creatine,” a nutritional supplement. And of Amazon’s top keywords in April, this search has the highest monthly CTR in the Top 20: 99%. Does that surprise you?

On the left, a bar chart depicting US keyword stats for the search term “creatine” on Amazon. The line chart shows its trend performance with shoppers on Amazon over the past 15 months.

We were surprised to learn the wellness industry is twice the size of the sports industry and “big pharma” combined. And its growth is projected to keep soaring. We did know that supplements have been among Amazon’s most popular products for years now. “Protein powder” is another of Amazon’s top searches, often making its Top 20. Indeed, on Amazon’s Annual 2024 Top 1000 list, “protein powder” ranks 24th while “creatine” is in 29th-place.

If you’re not already in the supplements niche though, be warned: it’s tricky! Luckily, lots of other products not subject to (justifiably) stringent regulations also fit under that “Wellness” umbrella. So if you’re here doing product research for Amazon, watch for prospects in our Monthly CTR Roundups. Add them to an Amazon Wellness Keyword List; let that tool mind them for you for awhile.

[Spoiler:] Found one! Up Year on Year by 36%, in April “food scale” garnered 127,730 searches and a 110% CTR. (We’ll do this month’s Roundup right after this last climber.)

Ranked 20th: “gaming laptop,” up from #26

Back to electronics! Fair enough: three-quarters of April’s Top 20 Amazon searches are electronics. (And eBay’s percentage is even higher: 18 out of 20.) And that’s typical. Here is “gaming laptop” on Amazon.

On the left, a bar chart depicting US keyword stats for the search term “gaming laptop” on Amazon. The line chart shows its trend performance with shoppers on Amazon over the past 15 months.
On the left, a bar chart depicting US keyword stats for the search term “gaming laptop” on Amazon. The line chart shows its trend performance with shoppers on Amazon over the past 15 months.

“Gaming laptop” searches are well up Year on Year: 102% up! And it ranked 35th on Amazon’s top keywords list for 2024. But see that caution-yellow 58% Average CTR stat? That suggests many of these searches may be more aspirational, especially this time of year. For April, gaming laptop’s monthly CTR is just 52%. And that indicates purchase intent is a little lacking, at least for now.

Next, what the Top 500 of Amazon’s most popular products tell us about what is selling best now.

Roundup! Amazon’s top keywords with 100%+ CTRs now

We know it’s hard for small sellers to identify products they can do well with on Amazon. So, rather than the Top 250 we review for Etsy Roundups, we’ve rooted through Amazon’s Top 500! We drew our calculations exclusively from our most recent full month of search and click data. Therefore, regardless of their 12-mo Average CTRs, these are the products Amazon shoppers are most interested in buying now.

And we’re raring to share them with you! But before we begin, a word to the wise. A good number of these are trademarked, prohibited by Amazon, some brands, or otherwise problematic to sell there. Please look before you leap!

Ranking #1-100

Note: for better readability, we’ll only shout out CTRs that are 125% and up. But all qualifiers will have at least 100% for the month. And as we mentioned, on Amazon 100% CTRs are very much the exception. For instance, it’s not unusual for Amazon Roundups to have no qualifiers in the Top 20. And that is the case for April.

Moving on to the rest of the Top 100, the first qualifier we have is #46 reacher. (Who’s dropped out of the Top 20 after two months running, but he’s held onto his 100%+ CTR.) And there are just two others in April’s Top 100: #52 magnesium glycinate and #72 crocs.

Ranked #101-#200

A stronger start here with #103 electric scooter; it has an April CTR of 125%. The next is even higher: HBO’s the last of us ranks #116 with 129%. Next are #119 standing desk; #132 iphone 13; and #139 iphone 15. And at #143 is wheel of time with 127%; (Amazon Prime shows tend to have high CTRs.) The final four: #184 desk chair; #193 shower head; #195 apple pencil; and #197 fallout.

Next, ranked #201-300

Slim pickings! The first qualifier here is #217 luggage. Then nothing until #250 monitor arm. At #258 the boys step up with 128% but are quickly surpassed by #270 prime deals on amazon. That one’s the first to have a perfect 150% this month. And only three more qualifiers in this group. At #282 is stanley and at #297-298 there’s a pair: packing tape and dish soap.

From #301-400

The first here is #303 yellowjackets. Next: #317 floss; #321 bidet; #325 blanket; #336 gundam; #348 umbrella; and #254 iphone 15 pro. Then this group’s first high flyer: #360 computer desk with 132% for the month.

Next up, at #364-365 there’s a pair: white lotus and dishwasher pods; the latter has 139%. Winding up the Top 400, just two more qualifiers: #394 mop; and at #398 is desk lamp. It has an April CTR of 142%.

And finally, #401-500

First, a pair: #410-411 food scale and ps4 controller. Then there’s #417 the chosen; #423 dog food; #449 robux; #478 fish oil; and #494 omega 3. That has 129% for April. And the last is #500 nike socks.

We hope some prove to be profitable leads for you.

Note: While doing this, we noticed Amazon’s March Roundup had about 20% more qualifiers than either February or April. We wonder if it was Amazon’s March “Big Spring Sale” event. More motivated buyers = more purchase intent = higher CTRs? It’s a theory! In case you’d like to check that list for prospects, here’s the March trend report.
