Happy New Year, fam! We’ve got a whole lotta climbers to report this month. Fifteen keywords in December’s Top 20 that weren’t in November’s, eight of them “screamers.” That’s our pet name for shopper searches that seem to scream into the Top 20 out of nowhere. These failed to crack your last Top 1000.
Before we get to this month’s, here’s how one of your November screamers looks now.

As we said then, we’re pretty sure this one stemmed from a homepage Etsy promo. They may entice lots of shoppers to click through lots of listings. But frequently, these keywords wind up like this: one and done.
Of your current batch of screamers, half are likely Etsy’s idea. The US, UK and Canada have the same four. But there are others that might show promise. Let’s get to them!
Top 20 keywords climbing highest fastest
In order by current rank, followed by their rank (if any) in November.
Ranked 2nd, “gift,” screamer (but “gifts” was #21)
4th: “jewellery gift,” screamer (but its plural was #63)
6th: “elden ring,” up from #119 in November
7th: “taylor swift,” up from #48
8th: “posters,” up from #336 (but “poster” was #29)
11th: “home decor,” up from #138
12th: “stranger things,” screamer
13th: “last minute gifts,” screamer
14th: “rugs,” up from #304
15th: “ring,” up from #349 (but “rings” was #28)
16th: “sticker,” screamer (but “stickers” was #3)
17th: “habit tracker,” screamer
18th: “lamp,” screamer
19th: “poster,” up from #29
20th: “personalised portrait,” screamer
The screamers all four countries have are #2 gift, #4 jewellery gift, #13 last minute gifts and #20 personalised portrait. All but “gift” have dismal click-through rates for December. Australian shopper purchase intent is just not there. (Sometimes, Etsy can lead horses to water but can’t make them drink.)
As for the rest of the 15, several that appear to have climbed really high really fast didn’t actually. Either the singular or plural form had ranked high in November. And three others are protected intellectual property; we’ll skip those. Which leaves us with four to check out.
Ranked 11th: “home decor,” up from #138

Improving! And it’s got eRank’s gold badge showing it continues to trend now, through the second week in January. As you can see, “home decor” had kept above 2,000 searches/mo right up until November. Its search count has recovered nicely this past month.
Even better is its click-through rate for December: it has 150%. Now, that is absolutely stratospheric purchase intent.
Tip: top Etsy searches and purchase intent
Any of you new to selling online? This will be a useful tip.
On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of ‘purchase intent.’ These are people more likely searching with the intention to buy, as opposed to those just browsing.
You’ll want to keep up with the top Etsy searches, yes. But for insight into which are the top-selling items on Etsy, look to their click-through rates. It’s why we end these trend reports with a Monthly CTR Roundup. You’ll see which of the current Top 250 keywords have had the highest CTRs most recently. And you have a bumper crop again this month! First though, the rest of these climbers that show the most promise.
Ranked 14th: “rugs,” up from #304

Holy Toledo! Year on Year, “rugs” is up 4,650%! And these stats don’t include those for “rug” singular. Both are currently trending in search now. And “rugs” has a ton of current purchase intent: for December, it has a monthly CTR of 149%.
Are you here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy? Maybe discover which are Etsy top sellers? We’d say rugs are worth your while.
In your last Roundup, we featured “custom rug.” We mentioned that in online craft communities this year, we’d been seeing more and more custom rugs. It led us to wonder whether there might be some type of new tech making them easier to produce. So we did some digging and sure enough, turns out there is!
And see that Competition stat for rugs? It’s green for go! Get in on this while it’s still low; this opening is unlikely to last much longer.
Ranked 17th: “habit tracker,” screamer

And this one is up Year on Year by 9,000%! It’s also got even lower Competition, even higher Avg. CTR, and a monthly CTR to match rugs’: 149%. Wow.
Everyone says Etsy’s too saturated. That it’s no longer possible to find a niche with high demand and low competition. Yet here are two unicorns in a row. Can we make it three?
Ranked 18th: “lamp,” screamer

Sure does appear so! And “lamp” is our third unicorn in a row with a CTR for December of 149%. Now, let’s go see what else is selling well Down Under these days, shall we?
Roundup! Australia’s top Etsy keywords with 125%+ CTRs now
Here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy AU? Insight into which are your Etsy top sellers? Then this is for you! Your insider access to which of all 250 top Etsy searches this month show the most purchase intent.
Keep in mind, we base these calculations exclusively on our most recent full month of data. Which means, regardless of their 12-mo CTRs, these should be your top-selling items on Etsy now. As for any Christmas-related searches, add them to a Keyword List. That way, you’ll be a step ahead on product research for 2026 holiday shoppers.
Ranking #1-50
In November’s Roundup, there were seven keywords with qualifying CTRs in the Top 20. You have double that for December, and the top three have 149%+ CTRs for the month: christmas, wall art, stickers. Elden ring has less; still, its 130% more than qualifies for the Roundup. The rest all have 142%+, beginning with taylor swift, posters, womens clothing, pokemon, home decor, stranger things. Skip one and there’s rugs; skip one again and there’s sticker, habit tracker and lamp.
Moving on to the rest of the Top 50, at #22-23 there’s a pair of high flyers: hetalia and keychain. Let’s take a closer look at the latter.
#23 “keychain” – December CTR: 149%

For a high-ranking product with such a low barrier to entry, that Competition figure is surprisingly accessible. Is anyone here new to selling? “Low barrier to entry” means minimal obstacles (cost, skills, regs) prevent new people from entering a niche. In most cases, the lower the barrier, the higher will competition be. Keychains appear to be the rare exception – and only on Etsy Australia! That is not likely to last: get in while the getting is good!
Returning to the Roundup, next are two more high flyers: 3d printed and personalised gift. Then there’s qualifier #29 gifts for kids. Skip one for a quartet of high flyers: fabric, digital products, twitch panels, gifts. Then nothing until qualifier #41 christmas clipart. But that one’s followed by a pair with 148%: fursuit and fursuit head.
We featured the furry gear niche in your October Roundup. (To read more, scroll down there to #241 “furry hoodie” for our market analysis.) We said then that we expected furry-related searches to rise Down Under. Welp, here are two more, now ranking in your Top 50, both with wildly-high CTRs. Unicorn Alert!
The final five here, all with 145%+: gold ring, cosplay, mug, my hero academia, graphic tees. And speaking of unicorns…
#46 “cosplay” – December CTR: 148%

We talked about “cosplay” in our annual Etsy trend report’s Roundup for 2025. Then it came up again in this month’s UK Roundup. For them, “cosplay” ranked #237 with a current CTR of 142%. As we said there, in both the US and UK, cosplay is huge on Etsy. Not so much in Canada, but (quote): “wow, is it GIANT in Australia!” And it is, both ranking far higher and selling.
This report is going to be way too long if we keep finding unicorns. But how can we not tell you about the ones this good? Some of these are really quite extraordinary. So, just jump on some and make us proud!
Ranked from #51-100
Every one of the qualifiers from #52 to #83 are high flyers. They start with gift for yourself, but be wary of this one. The other countries have it as well; smells like Etsy promo to us. Holiday gift shoppers may have clicked out of curiosity just to see what Etsy would show them. We’ve observed this behavior before with certain novel keywords. Shoppers could circle back later to buy – or they may not. Best practice: add it to a Keyword List; see where it goes from here.
At #53-56 are gold necklace, silver ring, y2k, yarn. Then a pair, #58-59 phone case, plushie. Skip one and there are 14 straight! The first six: bracelet, deltarune, cookie run, digital planner, custom vinyl and tufted rug. (Another high-ranking rug search with a ton of purchase intent!)
Continuing with these 14 high flyers: tshirts, tote bag, t shirt, wedding planner, wedding dress and horse. Note that the US December Roundup also has “horse.” We investigated; its sudden popularity appears to be due to 2026 being the Year of the Horse. Here’s your data.
#72 “horse” – December CTR: 147%

Year on Year, your “horse” is up 5,000%! And your Competition stat is the opposite of theirs: US listings exceed a half million (yikes). Yours barely exceed 14,000. For the US report, we did a quickie demo on how to niche down a high-competition keyword. If you could use a refresher, here is that report. Scroll down nearly to the end or search “#208 horse.” (Yes, your horse also ranks much higher than theirs.)
The final two of the 14: #73-74 journal and kpop. Then some singletons, also high flyers: #77 tshirt, #80 music box, #83 godzilla, #85 keycaps. At #97 is qualifier 2026 calendar, followed by #100 2026 wall calendar. The latter has a 149% CTR for December, notably higher than the 138% “2026 calendar” has; interesting.
Next, ranking #101-150
And the high CTRs keep on coming! The next are #101-102 boho wedding dress and silver earrings. Also #104-107 stocking stuffers, smiley face beads, steal a brainrot, stationary [sic] and #110 squarespace template.
Skip just one and the next nine have 146%+ CTRs for the month. The first four: fivem gang mlo, furry (another high-flying furry entry, folks!), engraved kada, engraved ring. The rest: graphic tee, fighting kada, fonts, gift for mum, gift for men.
The next qualifier, #121 gift for him, has less. But then the CTRs bounce right back up! All with 146%+: fossil, leather journal, leather bag, jackalope, handbag, iphone 16e case, khalsa books, hololive and kada.
Did you notice there are three high flyers here related to “kada”? They are #114 “engraved kada,” #117 “fighting kada,” and #130 “kada,” all with 146% December CTRs. They are metal bracelets traditionally worn by Sikhs, and definitely trending in Australia. Here is “kada.”
#130 “kada” – December CTR: 146%

Given that Jewelry is among Etsy’s most competitive categories, we’d be tempted to have a flutter. Certainly one to watch.
Back on the Roundup, the run continues with #131 kaftan; skip one and there are 10! The first of these are patterns svg, patterns, pattern amigurumi, mousepad. Then from #137: max verstappen shirt, mugs, moss agate ring, nails, and luthier tools. Skip one again and there’s #143 locket, then back to earth for qualifier notebook.
The final five here: underground streetwear hoodie, uma musume, sunglasses, ultimate life planner and twitch overlays, all high flyers.
Ranked from #151-200
And the hits keep coming! All with 146%+ December CTRs: #152 svg cut file gift box, #154 travel and #156 toys. Skip one and there’s a quartet: toothless, vivienne westwood, wall decor, tartan. Then at #163, a quintet: tegh singh bahadur, birthday card, birthstone bracelet, chappell roan, charles oliveira. Again skip one for the last of this run, #169 charms.
At #170 is qualifier christmas gift, followed by four with 146%+: brawlhalla, christmas svg, chiikawa, bonney playmat. Another qualifier is next: candy cane holder. Then the 146%+ CTRs resume at #176: book lover gift, dark souls, dog, crystal necklace, daily planner notion, conan gray. And more! Deltarune badge, custom long bar mat, edc, crochet patterns, desk mats, earrings, digital, digital art, aboriginal.
Skip ahead to #192 for ayn thor; then skip three and there’s a pair: amigurumi patterns and amigurumi pattern.
#196 “amigurumi patterns” – December CTR: 147%

Australia has over 16% of the global shopper pie for this keyword; that’s a lot for you guys. And it doesn’t include another 4% for
“amigurumi pattern” singular. Nor do the stats above include all the searches and clicks for “amigurumi pattern.” Its CTR is 148% for December.
All things cute have been trending globally for years and show no sign of stopping. Six searches with the word “cute” made your December Top 1000, beginning with #340 cute crochet patterns. (Which is what “amigurumi patterns” are: patterns for cute crocheted creatures, and they rank higher.)
Back on the Roundup, there’s just one more in your Top 200: it’s #199 altoid tin with 146%.
Finally, ranking 201-250
Straight out of the gate, another four with 146%+! First, the trio at #201-203: 3d print, binder ring d ring and mens lingerie.
Skip one and there’s giftsforher (yep, one word). The next qualifier is #211 letter from santa; skip one and we’re back on the 146%+ train with a trio. 18mm crocodile longines, patons and baldwin knitwear for baby and personalized duffle bags. Skip two and there’s #218 chelsea, then two more: jewelry and annies keepers floss drops.
Next is qualifier #224 personalised christmas stocking. Then right back to more high flyers: oversized wideleg jeans, overwatch, personalised name tag. Skip one for #230 mens clothing; skip one again for a trio: daily mood tracker simple, custom sticker, car stickers. Another qualifier is next: #236 bag charm.
And then all the rest have 146%! First, the quartet at #238-242: aesthetic stickers, ielts, lana del rey, sushi ceramic set. Skip one and there’s a pair: budget, bouldering. And the last for this month: signet ring, skateboard wall art and custom art.
