Warning: Beware of trademarked terms. This report may contain keywords that are trademarked: USPTO Trademark Database. NOTE: In order to get you this report as soon as possible, search-volume figures are based on eRank’s best early estimates. Keyword search counts and rankings get confirmed by mid-month; some may change a bit but not by much.
Don’t tell the others but, of the four top Etsy countries, Australia’s trend report is our favorite to do. One reason is novelty. Being in the Southern Hemisphere, your seasons are opposite. So some months, one or two of your Top 20 Etsy keywords might be flipped. We also get a kick out of how cheeky some of your top Etsy searches can be. And some trends, you’re just marching to the beat of your own drum.
Last month, we were exclaiming over the Month-on-Month turnover of your Top 20. You had 13 climbers, two of them screamers. (That’s our pet name for Top 20 searches that didn’t even make the previous month’s Top 1000. Because they seem to have screamed to the top out of nowhere.)
This month? You have sixteen climbers, including seven screamers! A couple are Etsy’s doing. In all four countries we cover here, Etsy does the same thing. Especially since 2022, when they promised sellers they would do more promoting, starting with its own homepages. That’s how we wind up with screamers like July’s “vintage gift.” Let’s take a quick look at that one so you can see what we mean.
Ranked 3rd: “vintage gift;” screamer
It got just over 1,000 searches in March. Bet that was Etsy, too. Because every other month except that one and July have either zero searches (as June had), or under 50.

It’s not just the sus search volume that suggests Etsy’s behind this, though. Look at that Average CTR (click-through rate) stat: 57%. And for July, the month it spiked to the skies? Its monthly CTR is 58%; that’s decidedly low for Etsy.
We find that Etsy’s homepage promos are exceptionally effective at enticing shoppers to click. Even if they’re on Etsy that day to buy something completely different. But once shown the listings, they don’t “click through.” Because they lack purchase intent.
Tip: top Etsy searches and purchase intent
For those of you new to selling online, this will be a highly useful tip.
On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of ‘purchase intent.’ These are people more likely searching with the intention to buy, as opposed to those just browsing.
So yes, keeping up with Australia’s top Etsy keywords is necessary. But for insight into which of these products are selling best, look to their click-through rates. It’s why we’ve begun ending all our trend reports with a Monthly CTR Roundup. It’s your insider access to which of your current 250 top Etsy keywords have the highest CTRs now.
But first, we have to get through these climbers. We can skip your Top 20 frequent flyers: gift, prints, wall art, crochet, keychain. And it would be prudent to skip “kpop demon hunters.” It’s a popular Netflix film released in June, and bound to be protected intellectual property. Same goes for #4 taylor swift and #15 south park.
Beyond the (possibly record-setting) screamer count, you’ve got another Top 20 surprise this month. Out of 20, nine have sky-high monthly CTRs; seven of those nine are 149%+! Indeed, four are perfect 150%ers; that’s as high as CTRs go. So this month, let’s concentrate on those – that is, except #4 taylor swift and #18 f1. She has a perfect 150% CTR for July; F1 has 149%. But their legal teams are known for filing takedowns on Etsy; nothing’s worth risking your shop.
July’s Top 20 Etsy keywords with sky-high CTRs
Here then is our short list for this month.
Ranked 7th: “poster,” up from 12th in June
9th: “engagement ring,” up from #102
10th: “vtuber,” up from #108
17th: “christmas,” screamer; didn’t make June’s Top 1000
19th: “digital camera,” up from #677
Let’s get to them!
Ranked 7th: “poster,” up from 12th in June
“Poster” is the only one among these five that isn’t a climber – but its monthly CTR sure is! Back in June, it had a worthy 97%. For July, it’s got a stratospheric 149%! Let’s go see what we can see in Keyword Tool.

We already knew how popular “poster” is Down Under. In recent years, you’ve often had both “poster” and “posters” make the same Top 20 list. On your Top 20 list for Q2 (second quarter, Mar-May), they ranked 8th and 9th.
For whatever reason though, while “posters” often ranks higher, its monthly CTRs run lower. This month, “posters” has just 84%. No idea what drove CTRs for “poster” so high in July, but we’re happy for you. Hope you’re making heaps of sales!
Ranked 9th: “engagement ring,” up from #102
Like “poster” and “posters,” you often have both “ring” and “rings” make the same month’s Top 20 list. But we don’t recall ever seeing “engagement ring” make any country’s Top 20.

By jingo, “engagement ring” is up 11,200% over this month last year! And all around, those are some spectacular stats: its 12-mo Average CTR is 117%. Best of all, competition from your fellow Aussie sellers is in the green: under 20,000 listings use this term. And of course, not all are optimized to sell.
For those of you brand new to ecommerce, here’s what “optimizing a product listing” means. It refers to Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The process of tailoring your listing’s title, description, tags and images to make it more appealing to shoppers. In turn, this boosts your product’s rank in search, drives more traffic to your listing, ultimately increasing your sales.
Given that you’re here reading this report, we bet you’re already ahead of many of your competitors. And remember, lots of Etsy shops haven’t ever made a sale! So, whenever you evaluate Competition stats, keep that in mind: you likely already have an edge 😉
Ranked 10th: “vtuber,” up from #108
Another with a perfect 150% monthly CTR for July: piles of purchase intent!

We talked about “vtuber” in your May trend report. Interestingly, it lacked the Trending Now banner then, too. But as you can see, its monthly search-volume performance is erratic. So far, its four highest peaks have been July and October 2024, soaring even higher this May and July. Last July, it ranked #39, with a monthly CTR of 143%.
In May, “vtuber” had a monthly CTR of just 89%. For Etsy, that’s pretty lackluster. Then in October, it ranked even lower, #54, but its CTR was much improved: 110% for the month. And this year in May, it made your Top 20, ranked 15th, up from #34 the month before. And had a CTR of 143%.
If you’re here researching what to sell on Etsy, we’re convinced this is a niche worth researching. As we said in May’s report, where better than Etsy for VTubers to get their gear? And heartening as this climb in CTRs is, that Competition stat (just 854 listings!) is all the more so.
Ranked 17th: “christmas,” screamer
Lest you think June was too soon for Etsy customers to be shopping for Christmas, it clearly was not. There were 34 searches with the word “christmas” in June. They just weren’t using the broad keyword.

So, why did they in July? Could be they didn’t; maybe Etsy’s Australian homepage featured a promo, its clicks recorded simply as “christmas.” If so, Etsy got that one right; Australia’s Etsy shoppers are clicking Christmas-tagged listings at a rate of 149%!
A year ago in July, the one-word search “christmas” didn’t crack your Top 1000. (All the more reason to think an Etsy promo drove this July’s so high). Are your sales picking up? Given that 149% CTR, it appears this might be a banner year for Christmas shopping on Etsy Down Under. Fingers crossed!
Ranked 19th: “digital camera,” up from #677
Last one before we do your Roundup! And it’s a bit of an odd one. We don’t recall ever seeing this make an Etsy Top 20 before.

Wow, “digital camera” is way up! Its former 15-mo high was this past January when it got 2,500 searches and ranked #74. And its monthly CTR was high then too: 127%. But for July, it’s now as high as they go: 150%.
And some of these may be “Etsy legal” to sell. The first consumer digital camera came out in 1990. That means plenty out there make Etsy’s 20-year minimum to qualify as vintage.
That said, we’d have thought eBay would be the platform for flogging digital cameras. And indeed, “digital camera” got over twice as many Australian shopper searches on eBay this July. Here is its eBay data.

Ah, but that Average CTR stat: just 41%. When calculated for July, it’s still only 44%. Now, across the board, eBay’s CTRs are far lower than Etsy’s. (While Amazon’s are roughly in the middle.) That said, it’s possible digital cameras sell more readily on Etsy.
Got any to sell? In fact, as long as it’s old enough for Etsy, there’s no reason not to list it on both platforms. Just be quick to deactivate the other listing once it sells.
Speaking of which, it’s time for your insider’s peek at what else is selling well on Etsy Australia these days. Here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy? Then this is for you!
Roundup! Australia’s top Etsy keywords with 125%+ CTRs now
As we just mentioned, of the leading online marketplaces, Etsy has the most keywords with high CTRs. That said, even on Etsy, CTRs of 125% and above are rare. These calculations are based exclusively on their search volume and clicks in our most recent full month of data. So, regardless of their 12-mo CTRs, of your Top 250 products these have the most purchase intent now.
Just a word of caution before we begin. Some of these shopper searches could cause an Etsy seller problems. Whether they be prohibited by Etsy or protected by intellectual property rights, please look before you leap!
Ranked from #1-50
Here are your record-breaking nine top sellers in your Top 20 searches. These four in a row have 149%+ July CTRs: #4 taylor swift, #7 poster, #9 engagement ring, #10 vtuber. Then a couple with a little less (but still stellar!): #14 stickers (141%) and #16 keychain (128%). Then we’re back on the 149%+ train for the rest: #17 christmas, #18 f1 and #19 digital camera.
Moving on to the rest of your Top 50, next is a quintet. Ranked #26-30: rugs (142%), death stranding (127%), deltarune (143%), grow a garden (150%!), and nfc has 148%. The next three all have 149%: singleton #32 custom, and the pair at #34-35 pokemon and witch.
Then there are two more singletons: #37 seamless pattern with 128% and #48 art prints; it has 148%. The final one here is actually the start of a sextet, all with 147%+! It’s #50 gift for her.
Ranking #51-100
The rest of that 147%+ sextet: fursuit, fat yoshi, goth, alien stage, taylor swift cardigan. Here, let’s take a quick time out for #51 “fursuit.” The UK and Canada also had furry-related searches in their Roundups this month. Let’s look at yours.
#51 “fursuit” – July CTR: 148%
We see opportunity here.

“Fursuit” ranked 34th back in October last year, and this year hit 26th in March! As we talked about in the UK’s and Canada’s trend reports, furries have gone mainstream (and global). Since 2019, we’ve watched “fursuit” climb the Top 100 lists of a handful of the marketplaces we cover. As we said about VTuber gear, we think Etsy’s the ideal go-to for equipping furries, particularly anything customized.
So: are you here to find ideas for what to sell on Etsy? Seeking a niche with low competition? Can you sew? If so, this one’s hard to beat.
Just feast your eyes on those stats! Average CTR is 137%; twice now, monthly search ranks have made your Top 50. And best of all is that Etsy Competition stat: just 347 Australian Etsy listings have it. Get in before it skyrockets!
And now back to our regularly-scheduled Roundup, lol. Next up, ranked #59-66, an octet! And all but one have July CTRs of 147%+! All these do: yoshi plush, xenomorph, elden ring, baldurs gate map, beaded bracelet. The sixth, #64 tote bag, has 140%, then travel planner has 148% and pikmin has 147%.
Skip just one and there’s a quartet and these too all have 147%+ CTRs. Ranked #68-71: clown, cufflink, bookmark, and journal charms. Again skip just one and there’s a pair, both with 148%: kids lover bodysuit (we looked it up! It’s a reference to Taylor Swift, phew!) and bones. Then skip ahead three places for a trio, and these too all have 148%. Ranked #78-80, these are taylor swift shelfs, south park goth kids, and alternative clothing.
Next, a couple of singletons: #83 sewing pattern (141%), and #86 star trek wrist communicator has 148%. Skip a few again for the trio at #91-93: hosting decor (135%); both crochet patterns and kaws have 148%. The final three in July’s Top 100: #95 planner, also with 148%, and #97-98 photo album and taylorswift [uh-huh, one word] costume have 147%.
Next, from #101 through #150
Off with a bang here with three singletons, each with 147% July CTRs: #105 persona 5 poster; #109 lugia plush; and #115 legend mask. Then a big jump before #139-142’s quartet: acotar, lingerie see through, linen curtains all have 146%+; pendant lights has 125%. And just one more in this section: it’s #148 holly clipart with 146%.
That “linen curtains” search caught our eye. Let’s pause to take a closer look.
#141 “linen curtains” – July CTR: 149%
Hey, look at that: Year on Year, it’s way up!

In fact, compared to July a year ago, “linen curtains” is up 3,200%! Even better, it’s another prospect with surprisingly low competition from your fellow Aussie sellers. For those reading along on a small screen, that Etsy Competition stat is 109. Just 109 listings! We can hardly believe it. No need to niche further down with this one. And yet industry experts pronounce them one of 2025’s top interior design trends: huh!
Given the growing trend of sustainability in home decor – linen’s much more eco-friendly than cotton or synthetics are to produce – we’d say linen curtains are here to stay. Jump on this before your fellow Aussie sellers drive that Competition stat up!
Ranking #151-200
Straight out of the gate, there’s a high-flying pair: #151-152 habit tracker and guestbook, both with 146% July CTRs. As has #154 google pixel watch 2 band. Next, a septet, and all have 145%+! Ranked #156-157: lace clipart fills, lace scallop clipart, labubu invitation, iu photocard, latvia tote, jorts, and oil painting.
Skip just one and there’s #164 3d printed; it has 146%. Skip one again and at #166-167 there’s a trio: aviation (138%), babymilestonewooden (yep, all one word) and porsche poster. Both of the latter have 146%. Skip one again and up next is a nonet, all with 146%+ CTRs for July! Ranked #170-178: plave, picky pad, pick fidget, flourish svg, fnaf, gabbys dollhouse invitation, fidget, gojo clothing honoured one, and svg elements.
Anyone else notice that fidget items are trending more and more? Here’s the broad keyword.
#176 “fidget” – July CTR: 146%
This one ranked 23rd in January, with a CTR for the month of 149%.

Not counting related searches like #171 “picky pad,” there’s three searches with the word “fidget” in your current Top 1000. The two just mentioned above, #172 “pick fidget” and #176 “fidget,” plus #599 “fidget spider.”
Sensing opportunity, we scrolled down fidget’s Keyword Tool page to its Keyword Ideas table. For Keyword Match type, we chose “Broad.” This shows us all searches with the word “fidget.” For sort, we stuck with the default, which is by Average Searches count.

When assessing results yourself, remember to hover over the bars of those little Search Trend graphs. For instance, 2nd-ranked “fidget ring” has only 558 for Average Searches. Easy to dismiss! However, checking its 15-mo trend graph, you’d see it had eight months of dead low search volume in 2024. But March through June this year were all 1,200+/mo. Indeed, this June, “fidget ring” ranked #146 with a matching CTR of 146%.
Conversely, when you see single-month spikes on those Search Trend graphs, don’t pounce immediately. Best practice is to add them a Keyword List first, see if they develop. They may turn out to be the leading edge of an oncoming trend.
Plenty do fizzle out after just a month, but July’s #176 “pick fidget” might be worth watching. With a 147% Average CTR and Competition too low to estimate accurately– Well, are you looking for a product to sell on Etsy that’s in a niche you could dominate? Here’s a prospect.
And now back to the Roundup…
Unlike the previous skimpy section, this one still has a bunch more to go. Next you have two pairs in a row, beginning with #181-182 slot machine (146%) and shiva kavacha; it has 141%. And at #184-185, both with 146%, are christmas coloring and christmas baubles ornaments png. Skip just one and there’s a trio, and all these also have 146% for July. Ranked #187-189: chiikawa, cardigan folklore, and candles.
Carrying on this run of 146%ers are the pair at #192-193: dragon puppet and dark knight rises bane, and singleton #195 edc. Then, bridging this section into next, an octet, all with 146%+ July CTRs! The first of these eight, ranked #197-200: wall poster, miyoo mini plus, motif elements, and mothers day.
Finally, ranked from #200-250
The rest of that 146%+ octet: makeup bag, miku fumo, christmas elements, and christmas fireplace clipart. And crikey, this run of 146%+ers continues through #236! The next of them is the quartet ranked #210-213: cookie run, cyberpunk, colouring pages, cute car accessories. Then three singletons: #215 nba posters; #218 mtg final fantasy; and #221 bookkeeping. And the pair at #226-227 hanakokun poster and guitar hero.
Our 146%+ torch gets handed off next to the quintet at #230-234. These are pixar style cartoon portrait, realistic wolf mask, rapper poster, japan vintage shirt, and orthoptics. And the last of the 145%+ers is #236 necron. Then the next two are even higher! With 147% CTRs are #237-238 band merch and bauble clipart. Then we’re back to 146% for your final three for this month: #241 wool; #244 swirl seamless pattern, and #249 sadie christmas ball.
We hope some of these prove to be profitable leads!
