Warning: Beware of trademarked terms. This report may contain keywords that are trademarked. USPTO Trademark Database. NOTE: In order to get you this report as soon as possible, search-volume figures are based on eRank’s best early estimates. By mid-month, keyword search counts get confirmed and some ranks change but usually not a lot.
We love you guys! Always marching to your own Down Under beat. And your monthly Top 20 lists reflect that. (We confess: seeing “fathers day” on your list brought us up short for a second there.) And your four screamers this month are also all your own. We can’t wait to look them up in Keyword Tool!
First though, let’s check in with one of the seven screamers you had last month.
Ranking #552 now: “vintage gift,” down from No. 3 in July
See that sad little bump of searches it had in March? Well, that’s how many it has for August: barely above a thousand.

Calculated for August, vintage gift’s click-through rate (CTR) is a woeful 32% now. That’s down from the 58% it had in July at the pinnacle of its search volume. Pretty pitiful purchase intent.
As we said last month, this screamer was likely Etsy’s doing. Via one of the homepage promos they do so well. Those are so enticing, even shoppers who came to Etsy that day for something else entirely will click. Out of sheer curiosity, many of them; hence the low click-through rate. Meaning, they clicked on the “vintage gift” promo but didn’t click many individual listings in the results.
It’s like a twist on that old proverb. Etsy can lead a shopper to click a promo, but they can’t make them click through. Now, if you’re new, you may be wondering why we care so much about click-through rates. Here’s why.
Tip: top Etsy searches and purchase intent
For those of you new to selling online, this will be a useful tip.
On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of ‘purchase intent.’ These are people more likely searching with the intention to buy, as opposed to those just browsing.
So yes, it’s always good to keep up with the top Etsy searches. But for insight into what’s selling best on Etsy now, look to their click-through rates. It’s why we end our trend reports with a Monthly CTR Roundup. You’ll see which of Australia’s top Etsy searches have had the highest CTRs most recently.
But first, your August climbers!
Australia’s top Etsy keywords climbing highest fastest
We like to start with these because they’re your hottest trends now. Here are this month’s, listed in current rank order, their rank in July (if any) last.
Ranked 1st: “furniture,” up from #183
3rd: “home decor,” up from #24
6th: “arcane,” up from #33
12th: “fathers day,” up from #88
13th: “grow a garden,” up from #74
14th: “picture book” (screamer; didn’t make July’s Top 1000)
15th: “bullet journal” (screamer)
17th: “earrings,” up from #42
18th: “room decor” (screamer)
19th: “keyring” (screamer)
Including the four screamers, you have ten climbers. Big improvement over last month! You had sixteen climbers, seven of which were screamers. We didn’t know where to start!
Ten climbers is nicely within the typical range of Etsy Top 20 turnover Month on Month. Still too many to discuss each one though; we know you’re busy. And we need to leave time for your Roundup. So, let’s see about whittling this list down a little.
Two are protected Intellectual Property you’d need a license to even mention in a listing. So we’ll steer well clear of “arcane” and “grow a garden.” And two more are frequent flyers on your Top 20 lists, “home decor” and “earrings.” We can skip those. That leaves us with six; doable if we’re quick!
Ranked 1st: “furniture,” up from #183
We’ve seen this on recent Top 20 lists, but not yours.

Lovely! “Furniture” has got a worthy 103% Average CTR. And when calculated for August, its CTR is 128%. That’s enough to qualify for this month’s Roundup: plenty of purchase intent! And accessible Etsy Competition, too.
However, if you’re here scouting ideas of what to sell on Etsy, we’d say hold off for now. Although “furniture” has had five months of decent search volume before this, an abrupt spike always makes us wary. Given that furniture occasionally makes other countries’ Top 20s, Etsy might be behind this sudden burst of enthusiasm.
So, before investing, add “furniture” to a Keyword List first. Let that report on it for you for awhile. And when we do the Roundup, we’ll shout out any furniture-related keywords. That will help determine how popular furniture (and in particular, which furniture) is with buyers now.
Ranked 12th: “fathers day,” up from #88
Nice! Looks like you Aussies get two bites of the Father’s Day apple.

“Fathers day” rises in June (for dads in the Northern Hemisphere?), and then really soars in Jul-Aug. And while this July was down a little Year on Year, August made up for it and then some. Happy for you gift sellers!
Ranked 14th: “picture book” (screamer)
This is one we’ve been eager to look up. We’ve never seen it make any Top 20 before.

We smell Etsy, lol. Because we checked: the US, UK, and Canada all have the same single-month spike. It’s just that theirs weren’t as high; none even made their Top 100s this month. Since picture books are hardly a new thing, it’s likely Etsy flinging spaghetti at the wall, erm: testing shopper demand.
And in this case, it appears they were not wrong (after all, Etsy does have ALL the data). Check out that 148% Average CTR; your shoppers were clicking lots and lots of listings!
Ranked 15th: “bullet journal” (screamer)
Will it be the same for this screamer? We’ve never seen “bullet journal” make a Top 20 before either.

Well, hey, look at that. If “bullet journal” is an Etsy plant, it sure hit fertile soil. We checked; that first big spike in April ranked it 40th, and it had a 148% CTR that month. It’s got 149% for August.
Just as promising: only 9,504 of your fellow Aussie sellers’ listings have this keyword. So, those of you wondering what to sell on Etsy, here’s a prospect. Of course, given the spikes, best practice suggests adding it to a Keyword List before acting on it. But we see potential!
Ranked 18th: “room decor” (screamer)
Yet another we’ve never seen make any Top 20 before. “Home decor,” yes. That one’s a staple in all the top Etsy countries. But “room decor” is making its Top 20 debut.

If you’re not using this keyword, looks like you should be! Despite that daunting Competition figure. For one thing, how many of those Etsy shops have their listings optimized as well as you do? (If you’re reading this, we’re sure your SEO is worlds better.) And remember, a good many Etsy shops have never sold a thing, so they’re no competition.
Ranked 19th: “keyring” (screamer)
Now, “keychain,” which ranks 16th this month, is a fairly frequent flyer on your Top 20 lists. For the US, “keychain” is a regular; it ranked 16th overall on their Annual Etsy Top 20 last year. But “keyring” is another matter. We believe this one too is making its All-Etsy Top 20 debut.

Okay, so that’s “keyring.” For comparison, here’s “keychain.”

“Keychain” is quite a bit better in all respects – except for that pesky Etsy Competition stat. Both keyrings and keychains have what’s called a “low barrier to entry.” Etsy jewelry sellers refer to this as “charm on a chain.” Meaning just about anyone with a pair of pliers can make these out of inexpensive materials. And that’s a significant factor in competition.
Popular products on Etsy with low barriers to entry always have high competition. Note that Etsy Competition for keychains in the US is about a million listings. But for keyrings, it’s under 85,000. Your Competition stats are nowhere near that stiff! So, there might be opportunity here. And for August, “keyring” has a 149% CTR: sky high!
Speaking of sky high CTRs, it’s time for your insider’s peek at what else is selling well Down Under. Here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy? Then this is for you!
Roundup! Australia’s top Etsy keywords with 125%+ CTRs now
Of the leading online marketplaces, Etsy has the most keywords with high CTRs. That said, even for Etsy, CTRs this high are exceptionally high. Note too, these calculations are based on our most recent full month of data. So, regardless of their 12-mo CTRs, these products should be what’s selling best on Etsy now in Australia.
Most notably: there’s an exorbitant number of high CTRs this month! The first time we’d ever seen this phenomenon was in the UK’s Top 1000 back in June. But this month, all four of our top Etsy countries have it. Now that first time, the UK’s returned to normal in a month. Meanwhile, for the sake of readability, for this month’s Roundups we won’t shout out individual CTRs. We’ll just list all the shopper searches with CTRs of 125% and higher.
Our usual word of caution before we begin. Some of these shopper searches could cause an Etsy seller problems. Whether protected by intellectual property rights or prohibited by Etsy, please look before you leap!
Ranking #1-50
To illustrate just how many high CTRs you’ve got this month, there are fourteen qualifiers in your Top 20. In our last report, we were exclaiming over your having nine; that was a record for you. Whatever’s going on, hope it yields more sales, whether shoppers are buying now or shopping for the holidays. Are you seeing more favoriting?
Without further ado, your Top 20 high flyers. Right at the top you’ve got a qualifier: #1 furniture. Skip just one for #3-4 home decor and poster. Skip one again for #6 arcane. Next, the quartet at #9-12: ring, phone case, posters and fathers day. Then at #14-19, you have a sextet, all high flyers. Picture book, bullet journal, keychain, earrings, room decor and keyring.
Moving on to the rest of your Top 50, we jump ahead to #27 for an octet, all sky high! Mugs, vtuber, lamp, mid century modern, journal, jewelry, italian charm bracelet, and butterfly. Hey, now: that “mid century modern” brought us up short. Haven’t seen it ranking so high in quite a while. So, given that “furniture” is in your Top 20, we took a look.
#30 “mid century modern” – August CTR: 148%
Indeed, it is well up, both Month on Month and Year on Year. In August 2024 it got just over 1,000 searches; this August, it got 3,550, so it’s up more than 200%.

And as you can see, “mid century modern” is at its 15-mo high for you guys. It’s also up this month for the US and UK. This style trend held sway for years. No other has taken its place yet.
And now, back to your Roundup. There are just two more qualifiers in your Top 50: #40 overlay and #50 chair. We said earlier we’d keep an eye out for any furniture in the Roundup; here’s a quick look at “chair.”
#50 “chair” – August CTR: 148%
Huh. We also checked to see if ticking that “Include Near Matches” option made a difference. Not much. Besides, “chair” singular has a higher CTR, and quite a nice one: 135%.

Given that one-month spike though, our advice is to hold off; see how it develops.
Ranking #51-100
“Chair” was actually the first of a trio; the other two are #51-52 chrome hearts and bullett [sic] journal. Skip one and starting at #54 there’s a quintet, all high flyers. These are pokemon, phone charm, necklace, project sekai and personalized portrait gifts. Next up, a trio: #61-63 fnaf keycap, fnaf resin, and gift for him.
At #66 is avatar, then at #68-70, another trio: astarion, sewing pattern, and runescape. Next, three singleton qualifiers: #72 watch; #74 warhammer wound; #76 twitch overlay horror tv. And then this month’s first septet, every one a high flyer! From #79-85: lingerie, kpop demon hunters, journal pouch, jewellery, iphone case, lego and cufflinks.
And the run of high flyers continues through the rest in your Top 100. At #87-88: travelers notebook passport bag and art. Skip one and there’s another pair: 3d printed and league of legends miss fortune keycaps. And another pair at #93-94: messenger bag and pencil case. And finally, #99 travel.
Next, from #101 through #150
Here we begin with a trio ranked #107-109: grunge, orange, and personalized gift. After those, there isn’t another qualifier until #132, but they’re worth the wait. First, at #132-133 there’s a pair, chess board and coffee table. The latter ranked in the UK’s Top 20 this month. And since it’s furniture, let’s see yours.
#133 “coffee table” – August CTR: 149%
Interesting!

Now this is what we like to see in a trending keyword. “Coffee table” is clearly among your most popular products on Etsy this days. And that’s a new development. Which means competition is still low.
Quite a nice Average CTR rate too: 107%. And it’s got that stellar 149% for the month. If you’re here to find out what’s selling best on Etsy now, add this one to your list.
Returning to our run of high flyers, next up is a quintet, all with 146%+ CTRs for the month. Picture books, oneshot, opalite, pirate and playing cards. Skip just one and then you have eleven, and all these also have 146%+. Ranked #141-151: percy jackson, nikon coolpix, nightwing, pedal stand, moonknight, phoebe bridgers, necklace heart charm, portrait, pc accessories, pet memorial and my hero academia.
Ranking #151-200
As just mentioned, “my hero academia” is #151. The next thirteen in a row all have 145%+ CTRs for August. The first of these is the pair at #153-154 abstract wall art and alien stage. Skip one and there’s a trio: anvilrage, yellowjackets, yellow tops. Skip two and you have another trio: #164-166 walnut monitor stand, trinkets, and van cleef necklace dupe silver.
Let’s check out “walnut monitor stand.” It counts as furniture, right?
#164 “walnut monitor stand” – August CTR: 148%
Hmm. Like “chair,” its Average Searches are in the red. Red as in: “Wait; better add it to a Keyword List first.”

If you’re researching what to sell on Etsy, definitely scroll down the page to the related-searches table. “Monitor stand,” for example, has a more established search history. And there are other prospects, including #194 “desk shelf wood,” which has an August CTR of 147% CTR.
What we do like about “walnut monitor stand” is that 122% Average CTR stat. Not to mention its Etsy Competition is fewer than 20 listings! And we must say, based on a Google search, these are handsome. (We’d love to have one!)
Returning to our Roundup and run of 145%+ CTRs…
A singleton is next: #168 umbreon poster. Then a pair, #170-171 gloves and dog tag. Skip one and the high-CTR spell is broken by #172 grow a garden card but who cares? Video game “Grow a Garden” is a phenom, but you’ll need a license from Roblox to use it in a listing.
Next up, #175-176 fodmap and heart charm. (Incidentally, it appears hearts and heart pendants are trending. Not counting brand entries, five made your Top 1000 in August. Only one did in July.)
Then starting at #178, you have a quartet: halloweentown, edc, bracelets, champion jersey hoodie. Skip one and there’s a pair: daily planner and cauldron. Then two singleton qualifiers: #187 dark academia and chrome hearts bracelet.
Up next, a sextet! Ranked #192-197: denim and diamonds birthday invitation, desk clock, desk shelf wood, call of cthulhu the game, calico critters, custom plush. And the last qualifier in this month’s Top 200 is #199 byzantium.
Finally, ranked from #200-250
Straight out of the gate at #201-203, a trio: raygun, the last of us, soda pop. Skip two and there’s a quintet: techwear, somali, scifi, team fortress, tarot. Skip just one and at #212-215, a quartet: star wars, sword, talisman, tactical.
Next, a pair of pairs: #217-218 leoz and limbus company; and #220-221 horns and littlest pet shop. After these, a couple of singletons, #223 httyd and #226 key holder. Skip one and there’s another quintet: march 7th, japan, labubu invitation card, tekken, and tamagotchi. Skip one again and there’s a trio, all three with 146% August CTRs: chopper, carabiner, custom soccer jersey.
A couple of singletons are next, #238 wallet and #241 neighbours tv. Then at #243-245 a trio: author brand, the new yorker poster, skull. And we close with a couple of singletons: #247 taylor swift cardigan and #250 spiderman mask.
We hope some of these prove to be profitable leads for you!
