NOTE: In order to get you this report as soon as possible, search-volume figures are based on eRank’s best early estimates. Search counts get confirmed mid-month; some ranks may change a bit but not by much.
This past March, Etsy UK set an all-time, all-country record. They had 17 climbers – Top 20 keywords not on their Top 20 the month before. And six of those were “screamers,” searches which hadn’t ranked in their previous month’s Top 1000 at all. An absolutely unprecedented amount of Month on Month turnover… that in April, you matched!
For May, you have 16 climbers. Only one of them is a screamer, but that’s still a ton of upheaval in your Top 20 Etsy keywords. (Keep in mind that up until about 18 months ago, your former high was 12 new Month on Month.) And by the way, that turbulence was well underway a year ago in May; we checked.
Your Top 20 in May 2024 had only one Mother’s Day-related search and only one for dad. Instead, your No. 1 search was “laser engraving bundle.” We remember thinking what the heck?! Here’s how “laser engraving bundle” looks now.

A year on, we’re happy to report that at least none of your top 20 keywords this May are head-scratchers.

Such a feast for us data geeks: can’t wait to get to them! But we know you’re busy. And we want to leave room here at the end for your Monthly CTR Roundup. See if we can figure out which of the 250 products in Canada’s top Etsy keywords are selling now. Which means we’ll need to whittle this list of 16 climbers down somehow.
Of these, how about we focus on your top Etsy searches that shot up from lowest down? And let’s also analyze the climbers with extra-high May CTRs since they show the most purchase intent. “Earrings” is the first of these.
Ranked 4th: “earrings,” up from #25
In the US, “earrings” has never left any of their Top 20s since we began reporting in 2018. That used to be true of yours, too. Canada’s top Etsy searches once conformed closely to the US lists. But a couple years back, that began to change. Here’s your “earrings.”

Year on Year, “earrings” is up over 30% for May. It’s also got a lovely Average CTR with Canada’s Etsy shoppers: 106%. And when we calculated its CTR for May? It’s 143%: a significant signal of purchase intent.
Time out for a quick tip: Top Etsy searches and purchase intent
For those of you new to selling online, here’s a useful tip.
On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of “purchase intent.” That is, a shopper more likely searching with the intention to purchase (as opposed to one who’s just browsing).
So yes, finding out what Canada’s top Etsy keywords are now is helpful. But for insight into which of these trending products might be selling best, look to their click-through rates.
Ranked 5th: “furniture,” up from #216
“Furniture” just hit a new 15-mo high, and Year on Year, it’s up 154%.

Back in 2020, we were surprised when “furniture” first appeared on Etsy Top 20 lists. Especially in the largest countries like Canada and Australia: we assumed high shipping would have a dampening effect. Yet search volume demonstrated how substantial the demand is for what’s unavailable locally. Especially for the kinds of unique pieces offered on Etsy.
Five years on, Canadian shoppers are still flocking to Etsy to shop for furniture. And judging by May’s CTR, they are liking what they see: “furniture” has 134% for the month.
Ranked 8th: “gift for him,” up from #858
We’re looking at this one because of how high it climbed from so low in just a month. And it wasn’t because the plural form had taken over the lead that month, either. We checked: “gifts for him” ranked even lower than “gift for him” in April.

Backstory: when we first began doing Etsy trend reports, “gift for him” and “gift for her” were Top 20 constants. Then about three years ago, these two began to drop in rank. Eventually, in every top Etsy country their search history resembled the first half of your line chart above. So when we data geeks saw them both pop back up this past winter? Lol, we were almost near tears, like seeing dear old friends.
The US “gift for him” didn’t see the same drop yours had this year in March and April 2025. As we see above right, after Valentine’s Day, Canadian shoppers were done buying gifts for him. But now with Father’s Day coming up, “gift for him” is climbing again: it got 10,550 searches in May.
Ranked 12th: “dog” (screamer)
For any country’s Top 20, seeing either “cat” or “dog” isn’t common. Yet, as we discussed in last month’s report, “cat” climbed from #87 to place 15th your April Top 20. Meanwhile, poor old “dog” toppled from 12th place in March all the way down and out of April’s Top 1000. And while six dog-related searches made the list, the broad keyword “dog” did not.

Then in May, as if to make up for it, “dog” raced all the way back up to your Top 20! Also, twice as many as April’s dog-related searches made your May Top 1000. One, #442 “banana dog collar,” has a May CTR of 146%!
(As for “cat”? Update: it’s fallen back down to #79. Have to say, we could watch them do this every month.)
Ranked 13th: “personalised,” up from #995
This one barely made April’s Top 1000. “Personalized” (spelled with a “z”) did even worse: it ranked #997. Here’s how “personalised” looks now.

Well, the good news: “personalised” is way up Year on Year. The bad news? Its May 2025 CTR is just 43%, the worst by far of your May Top 20 Etsy keywords. Overall, no big deal, though. Keep in mind that due to having two (Brit. and Amer.) spellings in use, search volume is divided.
Indeed, both “personalised gift” and “personalized gift” made your May Top 20. But only because in trend reports, we show you the keyword as entered by your shoppers in Etsy search. So when you’re assessing demand for personalised products, just remember to also account for “personalized.”
But there’s no need to use both in your listing SEO. Whichever spelling is entered in Etsy search will display the same listings to Canadian shoppers.
That also goes for the singular and plural forms of keywords. While in these trend reports we consider them separately, in Etsy search they perform the same. For a case in point, read on.
Canada’s top Etsy keywords “ring” and “rings”
Our next strong performer is 16th-ranked “ring.” Yes, it’s way up from #205 in April, and it also has a promising 130% CTR for May. But “rings” plural ranks even higher now and wasn’t as low in April; it climbed from 89th to 9th place. Still, using either one in your SEO will show the same listings to ring shoppers.
And that’s why Keyword Tool’s default is to show their data merged. This makes it much easier for you to analyze product demand.

As you can see, the only news here was made back in April: ring/s hit were at a 15-mo low. But they’ve rebounded nicely!
Your final May Top 20 super climber is “personalized gift,” up from #942. But we’ve covered the subject in our “personalised” discussion. Which means we’re done with these! Next, let’s see what your Top 250 trending keywords tell us about what’s selling best on Etsy Canada now.
Roundup! Canada’s top Etsy keywords with 125%+ CTRs now
Of the top ecommerce sites, Etsy has the most keywords with high CTRs. That said, even on Etsy, CTRs of 125%+ are rare, as you’ll see. Note too, these calculations are based exclusively on our most recent full month of data. Therefore, regardless of their 12-mo CTRs, out of your 250 highest-trending products, these show the most purchase intent now.
Just a word of caution before we begin. Some of these shopper searches could absolutely cause an Etsy seller problems. Whether they be protected by intellectual property rights or prohibited by Etsy, please look before you leap!
Ranked from #1-50
(For readability, we’ll only shout out individual CTRs above 140% – wildly high. But all qualifiers will have at least 125%.)
And just as you did back in March, you have five qualifiers in your Top 20! So far, having that many is unique to Canada’s Roundups. May’s five begin with the pair ranked #4-5: earrings (143%) and furniture. And then the trio at #15-17: jewelry (150%!), ring, and personalized gift, which has 144%.
Moving on to the rest in the Top 50, the first is #25 pizza with a perfect 150%, and #31 digital art. Next up, three pairs in a row, and all have May CTRs of 145%+! These are #34-35 cutting board and canada; #37-38 bbq and watch; and #40-41 wallet and incense. Then the last Top 50 qualifier is #47 best gift for mom.
Ranking #51 through #100
Straight out of the gate are three in a row with 149% May CTRs: #51 pendant; #56 bandana; and #58 music. At #70-71 you have cross stitch pattern, and minimalist; the latter has 148%. And then you have seven in a row, all with 148%+! First the trio at #75-77: stl, scrunchies, and pin. The rest are #80 furina; #82 elden ring; #84 pearl; and #87 flag. But those are the last for this Top 100.
Next, from #101 through #150
Again, right out of the gate, a high flyer: it’s #101 godfather, with 148%. Then there’s a pair at #103-104: fish and clay; clay has 148% for May. After those, we need to skip a bunch for the next qualifier; it’s #122 pendant lights.
Ranked #124-126 is a trio: cross necklace, expense tracker, and tennis bracelet; it has 148%. The next is a singleton at #130 macrame wall hanging. And right after is a quartet, all high flyers with 148%+! Ranked #133-136: lighters, labubu, kindle accessories, and ita bag. Next are a couple of singletons, both with 147%+: #139 romantic alphabates; and #143 phone charm.
And then, ranked from #146 straight through #157, you have one big group of a dozen qualifiers. And all but two of them have 147%+! From #146-150: furry, dagger, epic the musical, expedition 33, and grimoire.
Ranked #151 through #200
And from #151-157, here are the rest of that dozen. Beads (with 148%), cats (with less: 128%), chopsticks, arcane, clown, black (all with 147%+), and corset. (It has 131% – which is still really high!)
After them, we skip ahead for two pairs of qualifiers. First, #167-168 car decals and cape (the latter has 148%). The second pair: #171-172 pokedex (with 148%) and pokeball. Up next is the trio at #184-186: owl, tea (both with 147%) and wood. Then the last qualifier in May’s Top 200 is #190 diabetes with 147%.
And finally, from #201-250
This final group starts out strong: #203 lavender has 147%. But then there are no more qualifiers until #239 bridal shower games. And then we finish with an octet! Ranked #242-249, the first two are custom shirt and evil eye necklace. Then next five in this octet all have 146%+: pedro pascal, long sleeve wedding dress, t shirt, wedding gloves, shirts. And the last is birthstone necklace.
We hope some of these prove to be profitable leads for you!
