Twelve of these keywords weren’t in last month’s Top 20. Three of them didn’t even crack the Top 1000! Here at eRank, we refer to those as “screamers,” for screaming to the top, seemingly out of nowhere. But this month, we do know where they came from: Etsy homepage promos. Here’s one.

Ranked No. 1: “valentines day gift,” screamer

On the left, Etsy’s US keyword stats for “valentines day gift.” The line chart shows its Etsy search trend performance with US shoppers over the past 15 months. It has eRank’s gold “Trending in Search” badge indicating that it continues to be popular this week.

See that abrupt spike in search volume above right? Has to stem from an Etsy homepage promo. A year ago in January, “valentines day gift” ranked #73. And it’s not just that. Etsy UK, Canada and Australia all have it in their Top 20s too, and for the first time ever.

So, let’s move on to the rest of January’s climbers. We’ll have a quick look at those, then we’ll end with what our data indicates are selling best on Etsy these days.

Top 20 keywords climbing highest fastest

In current rank order, here are January’s climbers, followed by their rank (if any) in December.

Ranked No. 1: “valentines day gift,” screamer (didn’t rank in December’s Top 1000)

5th: “valentine,” up from #90

7th: “keycaps,” up from #39

11th: “wedding gifts,” up from #273

13th: “keychain,” up from #25

14th: “heated rivalry,” up from #199

15th: “phone case,” up from #26

16th: “ring,” up from #36 (but “rings” was 20th)

17th: “self care gift,” screamer

18th: “valentines,” up from #332

19th: “home decor,” up from #198

20th: “home gifts,” screamer

Twelve climbers is unsurprising for a month with such a tight pivot from one major gifting holiday to another. (Not to mention Black History Month, Mardi Gras, and early St. Paddy’s and Easter shoppers!) So we can skip the valentine searches. Apart from the first one, we see them every year in January.

Some of the others are Top 20 frequent flyers: keycaps; keychain; phone case. And given that “rings” plural ranked 20th last month, “ring” hardly counts as a climber at all. As for “heated rivalry,” a Canadian TV show based on a book, it’s protected intellectual property. So we’re not touching that one.

And since they aren’t organic shopper searches, we’ll skip the other two screamers derived from Etsy promos. Along with “valentines day gift,” these are #17 “self care gift” and #20 “home gifts.” While not a screamer, “wedding gifts” is almost certainly Etsy’s doing too. Canada and Australia both have it suddenly spiking into their Top 20s this month. So, let’s take just a quick look.

Ranked 11th: “wedding gifts,” up from #273

“Wedding gifts” does have the gold badge for trending this week. What’s telling though is that it has the lowest monthly click-through rate (CTR) in the Top 20. This is an example of a keyword with lots of searches (and competition!) but not much current purchase intent.

Top searches on Etsy and purchase intent

New to selling online? This will be a useful tip.

On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked listings in their search results. Therefore, CTRs are an indicator of ‘purchase intent.’ These are people more likely searching with the intention to buy, as opposed to those just browsing.

You’ll want to keep up with the top Etsy searches, yes. But for insight into which are selling best, look to their click-through rates. It’s why we end these trend reports with a Monthly CTR Roundup. You’ll see which of the current Top 250 keywords have had the highest CTRs most recently. First though, one more climber.

Ranked 19th: “home decor,” up from #198

We’ve been watching this one! Anyone else notice it’s been missing in recent months?

Left, Etsy US keyword stats for “home decor.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance with Etsy shoppers.

“Home decor” used to be a fixture on Etsy US Top 20 lists. Then in October, it began slipping. By December, it was down 68% Year on Year. Nevertheless, its former search volume was still enough to rank 16th overall for 2025, down from 11th in 2024.

We’re relieved to see “home decor” back in the Top 20, and sporting both gold badges too! It’s continuing to trend high in search this week, and it’s also got high conversion. That means many shoppers who used this keyword in the past 30 days added to carts and purchased. Yay! And speaking of purchasing, let’s go see what else has been selling well on Etsy lately.

Roundup! Top keywords on Etsy now with 135%+ CTRs

Here looking for ideas of what to sell on Etsy? Then this is for you! Your insider access to which of this month’s 250 top searches on Etsy show the most purchase intent.

Typically on ecommerce sites, a 100% CTR indicates buyers are highly engaged, clicking multiple listings in search result pages. Monthly CTRs of the top searches on Etsy run high; higher than Amazon’s and much, much higher than eBay’s. But even on Etsy, CTRs of 135% are exceptionally high.

For these Roundups, keep in mind we base these calculations exclusively on our most recent full month of data. So, regardless of their 12-mo CTRs, lots of these products should be what’s selling best on Etsy now. As for any Valentine-related searches, add them to a Keyword List. That way, you’ll be a step ahead on product research for next year’s Valentine’s Day shoppers.

Ranked from #1-50

There are lots of high CTR qualifiers this month! (We’ve heard that some Etsy sellers made way more sales this January than usual. Hope that included you!) So, to keep this easier to read, we won’t shout out individual CTRs. Just know that if products appear here, they have at least 135%, which is wildly high.

Of the Top 20, the majority are qualifiers. The first six: stickers, gift, shirt, valentine, jewelry, and keycaps. “Keycaps” has a monthly CTR of 150%! That’s as high as they go! We love this one, so let’s take a quick look.

#7 “keycaps” – January CTR: 150%

Left, Etsy US keyword stats for “keycaps.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. “Keycaps” has both badges. It’s had high conversion for the past 30 days and is continuing to trend in search this week.
Left, Etsy US keyword stats for “keycaps.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. “Keycaps” has both badges. It’s had high conversion for the past 30 days and is continuing to trend in search this week.

Look at that! For search volume, “keycaps” is currently at its 15-mo high. It’s also got both gold badges. Even better, check out that Competition stat: only 8,325 listings are using this keyword.

Here to find out what to sell on Etsy? Or to figure out which are Etsy top sellers? “Keycaps” also had 150% CTRs in December, November and October. That’s as far back as we checked; we do know they always make these Roundups.

Speaking of which, let’s get back to this month’s. Our next qualifiers are #8-10 earrings, necklace and tshirt. Skip one and there’s a quintet: pokemon, keychain, heated rivalry, phone case, ring. Skip one and there’s a trio: valentines, home decor, home gifts.

Moving on to the rest of the Top 50, at #21-24 is a quartet of high flyers: crochet, custom, 3d printed, sticker. Skip one and there’s another, art. Then skip another for #28 bracelet. Next, a trio: #30-32 planner, furniture, ita bag, followed by #34 candle.

Next up, a septet, every one a high flyer! From #36: valentine shirt, cat, blue, sweatshirt, calendar, digital, digital products. Skip two and the high CTRs continue with a trio, #45-47 crochet pattern, mug, personalized gift. And the last of the Top 50 is #50 jewelry box.

Ranking #51-100

At #52 we have mens clothing, followed by #54 fursuit. People, we have to talk about “fursuit.”

#54 “fursuit” – January CTR: 150%

Left, keyword stats for “fursuit.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. And like “keycaps,” this keyword has both badges: for high conversion and continuing to trend in search this week.
Left, keyword stats for “fursuit.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. And like “keycaps,” this keyword has both badges: for high conversion and continuing to trend in search this week.

We’ve mentioned “fursuit” and equipping furries before. Because furry gear has made every Etsy Roundup since we started including them.

Now, every month we data geeks review keywords for the Top 100 lists in our Monthly Trends tool. This month, we noticed so many furry searches! Here are just a few. In Accessories, the No. 1 search is “fursuit headbase,” No. 4 is “fursuit base,” and 12th is “premade fursuit.” In Clothing’s Top 100, “fursuit headbase” is No. 2; “fursuit base” is No. 5; “premade fursuit” ranks 11th. Even in the Bath category, the No. 1 search is “fursuit spray,” lol.

Consider fursuit’s data above. Searches haven’t dropped below 18,600 in 15 months. And that “low” was only twice; otherwise, they’ve been above 20,000/mo. Yet competition is still so accessible!

Here’s another factor to consider. For so many of the top keywords on Etsy now, either: A) competition is overwhelming. Or B) the products are off limits altogether due to intellectual property rights. Neither applies to furry gear. Yet.

Everywhere, we hear even expert sellers saying Etsy’s way too saturated now. That it’s no longer possible to find a niche with high demand and low competition. Well then, “fursuit” is a unicorn.

Resuming our Roundup…

At #56-58, we have a trio of high flyers: press on nails, furry, cosplay (“furry” has 150%; just saying). Then at #62-63 there’s a pair: stranger things and dice. Skip one and there’s ayn thor; skip one again and there’s a sextet. From #67: candles, painting, lamp, posters, ceramic, bookmark. Drop down three and at #76-77 there’s another pair: tshirts and svg.

Next, we skip one for a quartet: rug, riftbound, hoodie, bts. Then at #84-88 are minimalist, mugs, dragon, green, purple. Skip two and we have a septet of high flyers! Starting at #91: housewarming gift, dnd dice, gachiakuta, disney, crochet blanket pattern, pngtuber, twitch emotes. And hang on: we have another unicorn!

#96 “pngtuber” – January CTR: 150%

Left, keyword stats for “pngtuber.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. And it has the badge for high conversion for the past 30 days.
Left, keyword stats for “pngtuber.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. And it has the badge for high conversion for the past 30 days.

Yessiree, it’s another of the top keywords on Etsy now with high search volume + low competition! In fact, “pngtuber” also made our fourth-quarter (Oct/Nov/Dec 2025) Etsy Roundup.

We also featured vtuber model in that Roundup. For Q4, vtuber stats were even better than pngtuber’s. However, as explained in that report, PNGTubers use simpler images that are in 2D. So if you’re new to the niche, maybe start with making stuff for PNGTubers.

And finishing up this month’s Top 100, just two more: #99-100 patches and homestuck.

Next, ranking #101-150

Here, we open with a pair, #101-102 fnaf and trump. Skip one and there’s a trio: png, tote bag, trending shirt; skip another and there’s tapestry. Drop past two more for a quartet, all high flyers; the first of these is y2k.

#111 “y2k” – January CTR: 150%

Left, keyword stats for “y2k.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. This keyword has both badges: for high conversion and continuing to trend in search this week.

Another with both gold badges! We like “y2k” for lots of reasons. It hasn’t dropped below 5,000 searches/mo in the past 15 months. It’s a frequent flyer on Roundups, which means its Average CTR is exceptionally high, too. There’s just that dratted Competition stat that’s in the red. What to do?

Scroll down the page in Keyword Tool to y2k’s related searches table and behold!

Keyword Tool table showing related searches and their data for the keyword “y2k.”

Even without filtering or sorting, here are the results, ranked by Average Searches count. And already, fourth from the top, there’s “y2k stickers” with a Competition stat in the green! The fifth, “y2k clothing” has higher competition, but the sixth (and virtually identical search) is “y2k clothes.” It also got way more searches this past month (3,540), with just over 15,000 listings using it. Not bad!

The next one has even less competition; it’s “y2k bracelet” with fewer than 7,000 listings using it. And there are two more worth researching: “y2k dress” and “y2k nails.” We especially like that last one. It got 1,510 searches this month and has an average CTR of 149%: yowzah!!! And yet fewer than 12,000 listings are using it. Unicorn alert!

Returning to our Roundup…

The rest of that quartet of high flyers are #112-114 custom plush, fivem, fabric. Skip one and there’s a pair: anime and suncatcher. Then at #119-123, a quintet: car accessories, silver, black, carabiner, room decor. Skip one and there’s tarot cards; skip one again and it’s another quintet! Starting at #127: personalized, one piece, cyberpunk, amethyst, collar.

At #133-135, there’s a trio: christmas, bracelets, home gift. (Wondering why “christmas” ranks so high in January? While doing that Category keywords review we mentioned, we noticed that too. We gathered it was lots of shoppers searching for discounts on Christmas-related items. Good to know for next January.)

Next, another quintet of qualifiers: #137-141 book, kpop birthday invitation, silksong, pins, crochet patterns. Skip just one and we wind up this group of 50 with a septet, all high flyers! From #143-149: beads, desk mat, st patricks day shirt, gold, bag, white, and charm.

Ranked from #151-200

Off like a shot at #151 with a quartet: keycap, elden ring, phone charm, carfax, car. Skip one and there’s valentine png; skip another for funny shirt and once more for pendant and pdf. Next we have #165 keychains; then starting at #168, there are nine! Jacket, hat, flower, arc raiders, star, miffy, limbus company, photocard holder, sword.

At #180-181, there’s a pair: lord of the rings and high flyer stream overlay. From there we drop down to #188-189 for another pair, embroidered sweatshirt and locket. Then at #191, another high flyer: dice tray, followed by the trio at #193-195: crystal, easter, taylor swift. And the final three here are birthday, coffee and cardigan.

Finally, ranking #201-250

Straight out of the gate we have lighter and it looks like a winner!

#201 “lighter” – January CTR: 150%

Left, keyword stats for “lighter.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. This keyword has the badge indicating it continues to trend this week.

We love a lot about this one too, especially that 144% Avg. CTR stat. So we scrolled down to see lighter’s related searches. There, competition drops like a rock immediately after lighter’s, which itself isn’t too terrible. Ranked third-highest by average search volume is “lighter case.” Another unicorn, mayhaps?

Left, Etsy US keyword stats for related search “lighter case.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance.

Years ago as states began legalizing marijuana, we expected both lighters and ashtrays would start to trend. Vintage sellers, have you been seeing that with ashtrays? Certainly, it’s helping to fuel searches and purchase intent here.

Another thing we love about the “lighter” niche is that so many of you can get in on it. Artisans should be able to get a piece of “lighter case.” Of course, 3D printers too. And those of you selling kits and patterns. Anyone here who’s looking for ideas of what to sell on Etsy, check out lighter’s related searches table. At a glance there looked to be several good leads!

Winding up our Roundup…

There’s a pair at #205-206: chrome hearts and snoopy. Then a trio at #210-212: frieren, sanrio, tamagotchi. If this report weren’t already too long, we’d zoom in on “tamagotchi.” It’s got a 150% CTR for January and for the past year, its Avg. CTR is 141%! These are hot! And the vintage ones are Etsy-legal.

Speaking of hot, so is #214 goth; it’s got a CTR for the month of 150%. Next we have hoodies, then there’s a pair at #217-218: benito bowl and dnd. Slide past five and there’s high flyer custom stickers. Then at #226, a sextet of qualifiers: svg files, blanket, license plate frame, lego, roblox, sewing patterns.

Skip just one and an octet follows, all high flyers! From #233: flowers, godzilla, terrarium, magic the gathering, box, pink, tarot, heart. Skip two and we have Roundup regular nails, followed by #245 ffxiv. And then we end with just four more, but they are all high flyers. From #247-250: stl, 520 coffee svg, dispatch, and finally, teddy bear crochet pattern amigurumi.

Phew! That was a lot, eh? Hope some of these prove to be profitable leads for you!
