Super interesting! We data geeks absolutely live for these quarterly Top 1000 lists. The monthly Top 20s always have at least a couple fast-passing fads that disappear in a month or two. The searches that stay on top for three months reflect most accurately what’s trending on Etsy now. And this one does not disappoint!

Over the years, we’ve found quarterly keywords most closely match the same quarter of the previous year. It’s because on Etsy, each quarter has its own unique focus. For instance, in Q2 it is Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and graduations. In Q3, it is Halloween, fall decor, and (sometimes) Christmas. So first, let’s compare the current Q3 Top 20 with the Top 20 of Q3 last year.

Ranked 3rd, “tshirt,” up from #24 in Q3 2025

5th, “digital products,” up from #84

7th, “crochet pattern,” up from #123

8th, “halloween shirt,” up from #21

9th, “christmas,” up from #41

12th, “crochet,” up from #23

16th, “png,” up from #133

17th, “poster,” up from #51

18th, “womens clothing,” up from #27

20th, “ring,” up from #53

Of these trends though, only three were not already on this year’s Q2 Top 20. “Halloween shirt,” of course, although it did rank #349. And “christmas” already ranked #63 in Q2. The third, “crochet pattern,” barely missed; it ranked #24 last quarter.

Year on Year though, “crochet pattern” is this Q3’s keyword that climbed highest from the farthest down. And it didn’t make either of this year’s quarterly Top 20 lists. So, that makes it the newest Etsy trend; let’s have a look.

Ranked 7th: “crochet pattern,” up from #123 in Q3 2025

On the left, US keyword stats for Etsy search “crochet pattern.” The line chart shows its search trend performance with Etsy’s US shoppers over the past 15 months.

Did you notice that on the Top 20 list above, “crochet pattern” ranks higher than “crochet” now? That too is new, both Year on Year and Quarter on Quarter. To us, that is actually what is most interesting here. It appears more of Etsy’s US customers are doing their own crochet these days than are buying crocheted products.

We had already noticed something odd when we were researching our monthly trend report. Every search for “amigurumi” in this month’s Top 1000 was for a pattern. So, we checked it in Keyword Tool and got a shock. Year on Year, searches for “amigurumi” are down 99.9%! There were only ten searches in September!

Anyone who’s been going to local crafts shows knows how popular these cute little crocheted animals are. Seems like every third booth is selling them– Or are they? Selling, that is. Based on these Etsy searches, shoppers aren’t buying; instead, they are wanting to make these themselves. Good to know.

Looking for ideas of what to sell on Etsy?

So, next we checked how many “crochet” searches made Q3’s Top 1000. There are 36, with two in the Top 20. And out of the 36, only four were not for crochet patterns! The four: #12 crochet; #329 crochet gifts; #463 crochet flowers; and #876 crochet bag. Wow; only four.

TL;DR: If you’re here for ideas of what to sell on Etsy, crocheted items are not looking good. On the other hand, there is tons of demand for crochet patterns. And while Competition for “crochet pattern” may seem daunting, just niche down. (For anyone new, we’ll show you how in a few minutes.)

And look for better CTRs (click-through rates) too. The 12-mo average we see above for “crochet pattern” isn’t bad: 85%. For Q3, it’s much better: 119%. And for #117 “crochet patterns” [plural] it is 143%! Which means yessiree, these are selling like hotcakes!

And you know what else is? Our other two Q3 climbers, “halloween shirt” and “christmas.” Especially “christmas:” for Q3, it has a CTR of 141%.

Ranked 9th: “christmas,” up from #41 in Q3 2025

Last year, we were a bit taken aback when “christmas” didn’t make that Q3’s Top 20. And at #41, it wasn’t a close miss either; the year before, it had ranked 5th for the quarter. But boy, was it selling! Last year, its Q3 CTR was 150%, which is as high as these go. And while that stat is down a little now, just feast your eyes on its 12-mo average: 142%. That is fantastically high for an Average CTR, which means a ton of purchase intent.

Tip: Top Etsy searches and purchase intent

For any of you who are new to selling online, this will be a useful tip.

On ecommerce sites, click-through rates (CTRs) reflect how many times shoppers clicked individual listings in their search results. Clicking through many listings on every page is behavior associated with the intention to buy. It shows this customer is not just scrolling for eye candy or browsing to get ideas. This is why CTRs have proven to be an indicator of purchase intent.

Yes, it’s important to keep up with the top Etsy searches. It’s how you find out about the newest Etsy trends. But for insight into what’s selling best on Etsy, look to their click-through rates. It’s why we end these trend reports with a Quarterly CTR Roundup. It’s your insider access to which of the Top 250 Etsy trending searches have the highest CTRs this quarter. Let’s get to it!

Roundup! Q3’s top Etsy keywords with 125%+ CTRs

Here, we’re looking for Etsy trending searches that show the most purchase intent now. We’ll whiz through Q3’s Top 250 keywords to identify which have third-quarter CTRs of 125%+. Researching what to sell on Etsy? Wondering what’s selling best on Etsy these days? This lightning round is for you!

Note that these calculations are drawn exclusively from Q3 2026 click data. So, regardless of their 12-mo CTRs, these searches showed the most purchase intent in July through September. Many should still be selling well now. Any of interest, you could check whether they also made this month‘s Roundup.

Tip! Add any seasonal searches – e.g., for Back to School, fall decor, Halloween – to specific Keyword Lists. That way, you’ll have them ready for updating your SEO well ahead for next year’s buyers. (And thereby get the jump on some of your competitors!)

Ranked from #1-50

Note: For the sake of readability, we’ll only shout out a handful of individual CTRs. Just know all qualifiers listed have CTRs of 125% or higher, so all are signaling exceptional purchase intent. Especially given that these are quarterly; Quarterly Roundups always have fewer high CTRs.

In the Top 20, there are seven qualifiers: halloween, tshirt, digital products, christmas, pokemon, jewelry, and ring. Moving on to the rest of the Top 50, at #31-32 are halloween png and sonic birthday invitation. And just two more: #36 ita bag and #38 keycaps. Both are unicorns (so named because everyone on Etsy claims they don’t exist).

Unicorns are items in the Top 200 that have:

  • 125%+ CTRs for the current period
  • 100%+ Average CTRs
  • 5+ out of 15 months with 1,000+/mo searches
  • Low competition (green in Keyword Tool)

Since we featured “keycaps” in this month’s trend report, let’s have a look at “ita bag.”

#36 “ita bag” – Q3 2026 CTR: 137%

Left, keyword stats for “ita bag.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance with Etsy’s US shoppers.

Now, this is the very picture of a unicorn! We can’t believe that Competition isn’t already through the roof. Because “ita bag” has been trending on Etsy for years now! And since it’s been a Roundup regular high flyer, we’ve featured it several times. If you’re looking for something to sell in a niche you could make you own, look no further.

Ranking #51-100

At #52 is spiderman, then #56 blanket, and #60-61 watches and tshirts. Skip just one and there’s a quartet: embroidery, pokmon [sic] birthday invitation, hat, and burnout recovery workbook. (The latter was a giant one-month spike; ignore it.) Skip one again and there’s #68 bookmark; it’s got a 149% CTR for the quarter.

#68 “bookmark” – Q3 2026 CTR: 149%

Left, US keyword stats for “bookmark.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. It also has the gold badge that indicates “bookmark” is among the top Etsy searches this week.

Looks fantastic – all except that pesky Competition stat. Over a quarter million Etsy US listings use this keyword. But don’t let that hold you back! You just need to niche down.

Demo: How to use Keyword Tool to niche down

For any of you who are new, let’s do a quick tutorial. “Niching down” is how you whittle down a high-competition broad term like “bookmark” to a long-tail keyword. That is, one that has both less competition and more purchase intent! Just what you want, right? And Keyword Tool makes it easy. Here’s how.

First, we enter “bookmark” into Keyword Tool. Then we scroll down the page in Keyword Tool to its related-searches table. For Match type, we select “Phrase” (circled in lilac below right; for a one-word search, “Broad” works too). This shows us all search phrases with the word “bookmark.” Next, for Sort type, we click on the “Search Trend” column header, circled in goldenrod.

Now, this table’s default sort is by Average Searches count. Most of the time, that is what you want to know. It shows you a high-level overview of demand. But if you were looking for long-tail keywords, you might have missed one strong candidate shown here: “acrylic bookmark.” Its Average Searches are 993.

And that’s why we love sorting by “Search Trend;” it shows us which keywords are trending highest most recently. This month, “acrylic bookmark” got 1,170 searches; last November, it had double that. And if you mouse over its trend graph, you can see it had 1,000+ searches in 11 of the past 15 months. Not bad for a bookmark-related keyword with such accessible competition! Have a look.

And going by current search counts, this long-tail keyword ranks sixth from the top! Not bad at all.

Now, let’s get back to our Roundup, shall we? The next qualifiers in Q3’s Top 100: #82 lighting, #85 wallet, and #87 back to school shirt. And just three more: #90 twitch emotes, #97 dice, and #100 ayn thor.

Next, ranked #101-150

First off here we have #113 dog, then #115 wedding website (a new unicorn! We featured it in the current monthly trend report; here‘s that link again.) Skip one and there’s crochet patterns, then at #122 custom plush and a pair: #124-125 jewelry box and thanksgiving. And there’s another pair at #130-131: snoopy and wedding planner. At #133 we have book, followed by #136-137 resident evil and backpack. And just two more for this group: #143-144 dress and anime.

Finally, ranking #151-200

Leading this final set is #155 leather, followed by #157 butterfly. Huh: we didn’t recall seeing “butterfly” in recent Roundups. So we checked: it ranked too low in Q2; same for this past month. Same for Q3 2025 (although it had a stellar 150% CTR). So we flitted off to Keyword Tool.

#157 “butterfly” – Q3 2026 CTR: 141%

Left, keyword stats for “butterfly.” The line chart shows its 15-mo search trend performance. It also has the gold badge that indicates "butterfly" is trending on Etsy with US shoppers this week.

Aha! It made August 2025’s Roundup: it ranked #149 and had 150% for the month. It didn’t rank high enough in November and December. Then in May it did, but didn’t meet the CTR threshold. This is all academic, anyway: given that Competition stat, you’ll need to niche down. And now you all know how, yay.

Resuming Q3’s Roundup once more, there’s a pair next: #163-164 christmas shirt and christmas png. Then we have #167 nails, #172 yumeship, and a trio: #175-177 handmade, bag, and notebook. At #179 is trending shirt, followed by #185-186 homestuck and mirror. We’ve got just three more for this report: #189 art print, #193 suncatcher, and at #200: black.

And that’s a wrap. We hope some of these prove to be profitable leads for you!
